People talk about bouldergeist because he is a better boss in most people's eyes but this theme fits Kingfin so much better. This theme is trying very hard to be Jaws-like and it's working really well. And the fact that both the boss and the planet you fight him on are HUGE, you can lose track of him if he goes far enough away which adds to the suspense of the theme.
Are you sure this is a live orchestra? The overall abundance of consistencies in the various notes makes it sound like this was simply a MIDI file that had orchestral instruments assigned to its various parts in a sound generator or in software such as Ableton or GarageBand. Though if someone got a live orchestra to play the soundtrack to “Undertale”, I would not be surprised to see someone try to do this with the music from “Super Mario Galaxy”.
@@aycc-nbh7289 not necessarily live, I was just talking about the use of the instruments. I know they used a live orchestra for some of the songs though
@@monkeyanimationsofficial Koji Kondo himself apparently has done an orchestral arrangement of the Gusty Garden Galaxy music and there is a video of a studio orchestra playing it on TH-cam. Though I don’t know where exactly one can get this arrangement or those for other pieces in the soundtrack.
A few years after I played the game my memory had mixed up the two galaxies, I remembered Kingfin appearing after I defeated the eels, it would've been better
This song may be called Kingfin. But it should be called Bouldergeist because we fought HIM first. We didn't even meet Kingfin until after we got the Engine Room Dome unlocked. So in all fairness this song belongs to Bouldergeist WAY more then it belongs to Kingfin. Just pointing that out. Plus if you want to get really technical. The critical version of this song was more suited for Kingfin anyways. Like you weren't anxious enough let's add the swirling drum solo and insanity of that song and it fits Kingfin way more then this theme does.

I can't hear this song without remembering that horrifying sound of those homing bonefish
they really took full advantage of the live orchestra for some of these songs.

This is honestly the perfect theme for the Minecraft Warden when he is just walking around without spotting you
ehhhh Minecraft's worst part is their boss fights
The warden is less of a boss and more of a big threat

while I agree Bouldergeist's use of this song is more iconic, it seems to be based on the Jaws theme so it's probably meant for Kingfin
That is true, but this song definitely fits fighting a giant shark creature more than a boulder monster.
@BigGreen945 Then they should of gave Bouldergeist a new song and kept Kingfin with his own tune.
