When you arrive at the Galaxy, you land on an empty Starshroom so I always figured he ate or captured the Toads that belonged in that ship and thus justified fighting him
Let’s just take a moment and confess that this thing just terrified us as kids. I mean, if I ever see a shark’s skeleton in a museum, I’d probably just thing about Kingfin and walk away as fast as I can.
big chungus is that the name for the torpedo fish? I would’ve never known. Yeah, seeing those things charge right at the camera is extremely unsettling to say the least.
I'm not scared of anything when playing a video game! However, one thing from a kid-friendly game scared me for 10 years: Lotus Focus from the Wii Fit games. To be exact, it's the thing that happens when you lose focus if you move even the slightest while sitting on the Wii Balance Board: a Zainab appears and your hear "CUT!!", which appear out of NOWHERE. I'm not so scared of it anymore, though it still makes me jump sometimes.
he looks actually TERRIFYING and he actually makes you feel really stressed because well you're fighting underwater which provides the risk of drowning with the difficult to learn swimming controls (honestly ima say it Galaxy has the best swimming controls because it's not easy)
I was actually never scared of this boss as a kid, and actually thought it was quite badass. The gringills (creepy eels things) were what scared me, though. Something about their bulging eyes and pointy teeth made me afraid to swim underwater in this game.
This boss actually looks quite complex from the hard mechanics of swimming, grabbing throwing shells and maintaining an air source. For a grown adult it's easy How tf did we beat this when we were around 7
Kingfin is one of the coolest bosses in a video game that I've played. I was never actually scared by it, strangely, though. Also, this is one of the few bosses that did the unthinkable. It took more than three hits to kill.
I was terrified of this fight as a kid, I fought carefully and extremely passively/cowardly, but holy shit the feeling of accomplishment and triumph from the finale. I felt I overcame a fear watching the bastard crumble
Kingfin is my second favorite boss in the Galaxy series! The reason I ranked it so high is because Nintendo did the unthinkable: They changed the mood of a water level from "Yawn... This is boring..." to "HOLY CRAP!! A SKELETAL SHARK INSPIRED BY JAWS!! LET'S BERAK HIS BONES!!" I love this boss to death!
Fighting this boss had my heart pounding like crazy and my face sweating like crazy because I was so scared of KingFin when I play this game in 6th grade.
Even though I have never met this boss before on SMG I can imagine having to deal with a giant skeleton shark. *however i have dealt with boldergeist, a giant insect, bowser jr's airship, bowser soon, a giant robot, a child piranha thing, and much more*
@@jacobvanantwerp2001 there were plenty other bosses in the game that requires you to damage it more than three times, like kamella (deep dark which was 4), bouldergeist (technically 8 times), bowser jr's airship which was also 5 times, and fiery dino piranha which i believe was 4 times too.
Ignoring how cool the fight is for a second, there’s something so inherently lonely about this place ngl It’s just a single planet in the void, the starshroom orbiting it empty. Once Kingfin and his robo sharks are gone, what exactly is left for this desolate planet? Its only inhabitants were already ghosts when we came, and those volcanic seas sure don’t seem sustainable for life. Hell, the skybox from Ghostly Galaxy and the Drip Drop music make it seem as if this place was doomed from the start, and we’re here to simply finish the job by laying Kingfin to rest permanently. That, or it’s just a neat bossfight without too much thought out into these things and simply wanted to create an interesting atmosphere which it sure did

While sharks don’t possess a skeletal structure, they do have an equivalent in the form of a skull like structure around the brain, and more importantly, their jaws. The cartilage in their jaws are much more dense and stiff.
Kingfin scared the shit out of me when I was younger, I already hated being underwater in the game and now there's a giant skeleton shark in the same water I'm in. Yeah no thanks
