Hey all! There are some mistakes in this video, due to some of the settings I used during recording (There are some tiny rips in the skybox of World 1 and 5). I wanted to fix these, so I remade the video with the right settings and some better shots this time! I also removed the seagulls from the Skybox of World 2 and added the version of World 1 after the Green Stars have appeared. I’m just realizing it now, but each new world makes the perspective zoom out further away, you go from a planet, to a solar system, to the middle of a galaxy, to an outer view of a galaxy, a big cluster of galaxies, a supermassive black hole, and finally, one of those reality spheres which contain “everything”
@@ashermack2543 Maby they tried to get out of the galaxy but the galaxys supermassiv black hole was to strong and drove them in agian. That would explain the dramatic music.

It's simply incredible to me that in 2007 and 2010, when they were creating the new title for the Super Mario franchise, they decided to create such magnificent soundtracks (FOR A MARIO GAME). The previous games also have good music, but for the Galaxy games they did something completely different and unique for the series. For some reason, I forget how beautiful they are, and from time to time I stumble upon them by chance, leaving me once again in awe.
World 3 ambiance will always be my favorite one. The nostalgia is strong here ahah. Quite sad that Nintendo didn't added Mario Galaxy 2 in Super Mario 3D All-Star.

@@nikolap490 I actually dont see Bowser's own star creating a black hole destroy the universr, for this it needs to contain enough mass to influence the entire Universe with its gravity - which doesnt seem be the case because the universe is HUGE and the influence of gravity decreases the further you are away.
So yes but no. We're talking about a game where literally everyone can breathe in space, or where certain planets have the properties of floating islands (in the sense that if you leave the planet, you fall, attracted by a gravitational force that doesn't seem to exist), not to mention that the black holes found in the levels should attract any nearby planets. We cannot apply the rules of our universe in a fictional universe. And the creation of Bowers, who created the famous black hole at the end of the game, had as a source of energy, one of the great stars 🌟 which has great power, I remind you.@@Chris-gx1ei
When I was a kid i used to think Galaxy 2 was unoriginal, or a ripoff of the first game because of all the similar/reused ideas. It made sense to me when I understood the universe got remixed at the end of Galaxy 1 though, and now I just appreciate the cool level designs & incredible music for what they are
I prefer galaxy one because it genuinely makes you feel like you're in space. Nothing stems that further than the literal first galaxy you're on. The music being slow and calm as you traverse the unfamiliar place. Galaxy 2 lacks any of that, instead replacing it with the typical silly fun mario feel that all other mario games have. Galaxy 1 just felt...different
@@donaldtrumpling2016 hard agree on that, galaxy 1's atmosphere (technically lack of an atmosphere?) is the best in any mario game that I can think of. Galaxy 2 definitely has a couple similar moments though (world 5/6 & space storm galaxy come to mind)

I would come home from primary school, late 2010, the day would’ve probably been rough, so I’d hop on Mario Galaxy 2 for a bit, to be reunited with my friends Lubba, the Hungry Luma, Captain Toad and the rest. All these songs would be playing and it would be incredibly calming, the game would be telling me that all is ok, and you’re always welcome to play with your friends in Mario Galaxy. At the end of the game, when I finished it, I cried. This game meant so much to me, I will forever love it, thank you SMG2 for being part of my childhood ❤️

As a reminder of the big stars 🌟 recovering at the end of each world opens a glass hole which allows you to go to the next world. So Mario shouldn't take much time to travel that far.
I don't think World 3 is the Oort cloud, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the center of the Milky Way as seen from the solar system. Besides, wasn't the Oort Cloud discovered a few years after Mario Galaxy 2 was even made?

There’s something really funny about a plumber who once worked a business on earth is now a protector of the universe. I mean technically the world was reset in the first game but still lol. Not sure if Mario is on Kirby levels of powerful though 😅.

World 3 immediately enchanted me with the gorgeous piano movement, and World 5 had my jaw on the floor as it depicted an unfathomably immense astronomical superstructure.

I know World S is meant to be throwbacks to past Mario games, but I still really wish we could've had a final level where we get to visit that planet in the background. Getting to visit paradise itself would've been the perfect way to send off the game after the gruelling challenge that was The Perfect Run

I love how the background tells a story about how far you've gone. World 1s Cloudy blue sky's, this is your home. World 2 is at the edge of the solar system. World 3 is so far away your star blends into the cosmic sea of stars World 4 is so far away you can see your entire home galaxy. World 5 has the, "sky" dotted with galaxies. Which was yours? World 6 shows you nothing of what you once had. The distance so great it can't be seen. Sometimes is scary just how small we really are.
This is such a lovely video! At first I was expecting them to be still images but I was pleasantly surprised by them being animated. These are really nice shots of each world's atmosphere.
for those who genuinely love these and have wallpaper engine, they exist, and they have almost the same exact backdrop, save for the resolution (source: i was the one who made them back during quarantine or something)

Same, I 100% the first Super Mario Galaxy and would gladly do the same to this one if brought to the switch, tho with the new console coming eventually, hope the new switch will bring this in.
When I first played this game, I had limited time to play, so I couldn't afford to stay on the world map for too long. That's why I love this video, it made me feel that same feeling when I discovered something new in this game.

What setting did you change to fix it? I played SMG2 on Dolphin about a year or two ago and had the same problem

Good catch, although aren't galaxies usually composed of supermassive black holes? so i guess 5 and 6 switched

World 3 is not middle of galaxy. It is the outer shell of our solar system. It is called the Oort Cloud.

the fear i felt and still feel about black holes is very real and _very_ intense
