I had to pause the video to comment on a point you made, "I fell in love with living in Black countries"!!! I wish more African Americans would experience this, it's has a psychological and spiritual effect that is had to put in words.
I have been following your Chanel for the first 3 weeks, I love what you do, and I have to say congratulations for your achievements. And I have to say , i think your husband was meant to be yours. Well done.
Her husband was my best English teacher, while she was my Life skills teacher( very kind and soft)Grade 11 (2011).🤗They are beautiful souls inside and out😍
I had a similar experience. Working in corporate America as a Black man is almost one of the worst things you can experience. I had to get out..you know you aren't being yourself and just conforming yourself to whatever they want you to be. As you said about being in a Black country, the energy is just different. I experienced this the first time I went to Africa. My spirit felt like I belonged there.

I too am a native New Yorker, turned 50 last October I'm I've been long fed up with life here and would like to leave. I hope you continue to experience greater things.
@@AfroAmericaninAfrica Yes, I wanted to pick up on that 'perception' sentence. Speak your truth, Sis. A lot of the time we are conditioned to step around, be polite or minimise what a situation actually is. Racism. Perception leaves it open for someone else to say 'You may have viewed it like that but that might not have been the reality of the situation.' That puts the accountability on you and your mental state and removes it from them taking ownership for THEIR racist actions. We offer them the perfect excuse to grab on to when we start talking about 'my perception'. So happy you left and you are thriving in Namibia. I am seriously thinking of leaving London, UK for the very same reasons that made you leave. I worked with White, left wing 'progressives', in the Human Rights field, who claimed to be fighting for minority rights but were as racist as in any other setting. It came as a shock, Black wake-up call and a turning point for me. Sis, it is not just happening in corporate America/the private, cut throat, commercial arena. The Charity/Human rights setting produces some of the worst exploiters/abusers of human rights/perpetrators of racial discrimination. What a strong, smart and beautiful lady your mother raised!! Faith is everything and you took a leap and look at you now!! Many heartfelt blessings to you and your adorable son and husband!! I love your story and love your heart and soul.
I subscribed to your channel a few years ago when I saw you on CNN and you mentioned how you went to Howard (my Alma Mater as well) and now lived in Namibia. I was like, Wait she moved to Africa??? It had never occurred to me as an option until you. Now I'm married and still living in the US, but my husband and I have come up with a plan on how we will move to the continent as well. Sick of this place.
Ha ha..isnt life interesting. I worked my butt off to move to the USA from kenya 14 years ago. Someone else worked their butt off to run from the USA to Namibia. I know i have a deep infatuation for Namibia and Botswana. Cant wait to do a long desert road trip. I visited South Africa 2 years ago. I am very very happy for you. I was a volunteer in Senegal in 2009. I just returned to Senegal this past January for the 7th time with my husband of 10 years and my four year old. Love what you're doing, planning to retire in my 40s and move there for good.
I wish I had the foresight to move to Africa years ago, but I'm making my plans now and hope to be there very soon. Your mother was a wonderful Pan-African.
Beautiful sister I am proud to see a Black American had the courage to return home out of the hells of the America. Lovely son. From an African American in Atlanta. Best wishes.
Ha ha I remember your marriage videos. The first video I saw was when you lived in your apartment. You have always been great at responding to my questions. Thanks so much...Darn I have been following you for sometime now.
I really love and respect your journey. Many of us cant stand the racism and injustices in NA but we just complain and carry on. Bless you and your wonderful mother!
I have been watching your channel for years...I have been to Ghana twice now, I finish my BA History degree next year, moving there shortly after to begin life in Africa. Your sun ☀️ Is really growing!! I’m still here, and will watch for any future videos. Peace,Love, and African Powers ✊🏿
Our stories somewhat similar. As I lost my mum and went on 1 year hiatus of doing what I want and visited Barbados. We have much in common. God Bless Your Journey our Journey. ✊❤
Way to go my sister. Am Zimbabwean and as I started to work 20 years ago I realised I couldn't work for a white corporate. Each time I was employed by a white corporate I would be fired within a year. So I started my own company making furniture . Been at it for 16 years straight. We need to look within for emancipation. Robert Mugabe used to say look within black people.
I understand your hesiabout Rwanda back then cause although I’m Pan African but we all consume same the western media propaganda about other African countries and it’s not till recently that I realized how wrong my perception about current Rwanda situation has been ) and the irony is that a white co- worker went to Rwanda and lived there for a year and loved it and it’s partly her feedback was that made me research and find out how wrong these begat perceptions were . I honestly think we as black people need to take western media with a grain of salt cause it has us looking at each other from a white lens . I realize this too when my South African niece said she’s scared of crime in Brooklyn cause she watches the YS program crime watch . I assured her that Brooklyn is not how the show portrays it and that I’ve been living here for 8 years and love it . My point is I don’t trust mainstream narrative to objectively promote black or brown countries / cities / experiences/ cultures like it does western ones.
Exactly Brooklyn isn't so bad but it's been given alot of bad exposure but everybody there isn't prostituting or selling drugs or addicted to them bcuz it's expensive to live there so many are to busy trying to stay employed
I'm planning a trip to Rwanda in May! I was hesitant but my neighbor went and said she loved it more than Kenya, her sister lives there and has invited me. I'm from Inglewood CA and I was 10 when the Rodney King riots happened and the streets were a war zone it now 25+ years it's a totally different place so I realized that any city or country can be unsafe but we take precautions and survive nonetheless
Thats so Beautiful, sis! I too moved to Afrika from amurdikkka...(Kenya!) I have come back to the divided states for a few years, but will be returning very soon to the Motherland! I wish you all the success in the world and Blessings to you and your Beautiful family!❤🖤💚
😂🤣😂 I was listening to your video on my iPad via AirPods & when the flies were buzzing about I thought there was one in my house so I swatted in the direction of my left ear!
The corporate America part of the story got me emotional.I'm sure most of the Africans paint America all colorful not knowing that life is no where 100%!

Wow I can't believe it has been 10 yrs already. You are a native at this point. Loved this video and it's always a joy when your son inserts himself into your videos. Lol.
I loved this reminder of the initial video of how, why and what motivated you to make the move. You are truly an inspiring gem. I just recently returned from Morocco visiting with my future wife again. We too are making plans and globe hopping is definitely in our future as well. Salutes to you sister.
I'm glad I'm first.. Been watching your videos.. I'm still listening to get to know you... Your videos are soo wonderful not just because you live in my home town.. But how bold and interesting you are👌👌👌👌👌👌.... Keep it up.. You are omuwambo now from New York to owambo girl.. I love that
I am sorry about loss of your mom and grandma. Nothing is like home sis! Enjoy life in africa your son is cute mashallah. New subscribe, love your personality
I wonder if there aren't more AA women like yourself in the USA. But it's hard for them to leave their extended family and their follow-the-crowd conditioning runs deeper. Also I'm sure you know there's millions of us who grow up in majority Afro-descended countries (Caribbean) and unfortunately go the opposite way to migrate to the USA for economic reasons.
Brother there are alot of us that have made the return back to the continent & for good & it was done such as for me myself prior to the year of the welcome back return & for some of us it had to happen you know we weren't all born w/ silver 🥄 in our mouths so we had to start from somewhere so the poor folks such as me & my family had to go through their vocational programs(my mom Lpn my aunt Lpn ect nothing higher no doctors no specialist no dentist or any other practice in the field apart from nurse not even in paperwork) to go to college to try to rise above minimum wage dead end employment but to no avail 😔 bcuz it wasn't long afterwards that they brought in cheap labor to underbid us(cna's phased out lpn's in hospitals in a major way meanwhile they couldn't mix medicine nor dispense it nor inject it) which bought them enough time to outsource(paperwork fields outsourced or automated) & the famous cliché became "you have to be re-educated" by going back to school not realizing that it wasn't free back in the late 90's & it still ain't free now we gotta break the cycle of service end jobs that continues to build bridges to nowhere bcuz working poor in the states is still the same as no employment bcuz they know in some way form or fashion that their still assisting you entrepreneurship even though it's still hated on for some might really work in an area where competition from those even poorer then us aren't steady rushing in mopping up all the little entry level no work experience to minimum experience positions that's left we must give Africa a chance I mean apart from droughts in some areas the power supply & the heat we can rest on the notion that our forefathers made it work so we should attempt the same ✊🏿
I am am older woman who is an Army veteran and definitely have the desire to relocate to Africa. Can u tell me if there are any retired expats in ur area or any organizations that i can contact for information for people like me who is retired? Thx

She will be probably coming to Namibia also' ancestors of many of you is DRC which is the same people in Namibia' Angola and SA. Many want to come back home.
I love what you have done . I am too old to make the move . If I were younger I would move to Africa. l heard one brother say it was the first time that he felt real freedom . Thanks
It's a joy to see you and little Nance thriving in Africa. Thank you for sharing this inspiring update and lots of love to you, your husband and adorable Lance.
Beautiful story! So glad I watched this! I recently moved FROM Namibia to cold windy winter parts of the world :P I wish you all the best in my homeland!
Good morning from Kansas! New subscriber to your channel. Approximately 2 weeks however I love your channel. I visited Ghana in 2015 & 2016. Was there with a mission team with COGIC. And I must say, “I loved it”. Nevertheless I’m looking to travel to Kenya in October yet would love to visit Namibia as well one day. Blessings to you and yours!
You are blessing so many people by these vlogs than you probably know. Thank you for your courage, your modesty, your sincerity and everything else you are and do. Max respect and many blessings on your journey.
Thank god we only have one hater so far. Shame on you for disliking this informative vlog. She is actually living the American dream in Africa. Her own house and family.
I have watched you blossom over the years since your move to Namibia at such a young age. Much success to you and your new family. I just saw a picture of your mom in your video, you are just as beautiful and you have a very handsome son. I remember watching your wedding video and also when you were expecting your son. Your ancestors are watching over you.
The energy and the vibe of all black countries is ELECTRIC! I grew up in that and I miss it alot. Got a taste of it in the Bahamas and cannot wait to experience it again. I have been away for almost 16 years and cannot wait to return. Planning for the grand return. Bringing my wife and daughters to see Africa for the first time in their lives.
I’m thinking of relocating to The French West Indies, or the French speaking islands in Africa. I’m not happy in the states. I would go back to Haiti(where my mom’s from) but the political instability scares me a bit.
Greetings from Tanzania. This video just popped up in my TH-cam feed off of my AppleTV. Thanks for sharing your experiences in Namibia as well as elsewhere. Many years ago I had some mostly wonderful 10 years in your home country. I often wondered what it would be like for my African-American friends to come see my part of the world. You and others are the living answers to all those questions I had then. Best wishes.
I feel you on that cold weather in New York , I'm from Texas and hate some of the cold weather hear. You know we black folks cain't get use to this cold winter weather in the US. Enjoy some of that warm weather for me to would you please! Lucky man you have , hope I can find me a beautiful black woman like yourself. Keep it black.
The positivity in your personal journey makes me feel as though I know you and am grateful that you are sharing your experience with us. You are living the dream your mother intended you to live, full and happy. It should remind us the importance of our family and our self worth as a people. Wondering if you've ever thought about establishing a media company in Africa or a media school? Your writing and communication talents are evident and really needed on the continent.
Always interesting as usual. The story about your late mother, is the absolute highlight and you have to know that you are now an African and a proud Namibian. I hope that your inspiring story will bring more of our people back to their mother continent and as a Namibian myself, of cause especially to Namibia. Keep growing.
Very insightful. Very profound. I feel somewhat ashamed that you had more courage than I did in my twenties. You are something special. Keep up the good work.
Shalom sista! I am the Bronx native who commented previously. BRAVO to you! Thank You for this video..it explains a lot and gives excellent info although I think at this point I'm only willing to visit (in Namibia's summer of course) it will be good to leave the cold east coast for warm sun! And yes, I really want to see what it will be like to be in an All Brown environment. Thank you again and may the love of Almighty Yahuah shine upon you and your family always!
Dear sister I know that you aren't doing it on purpose but would you please stop devaluing yourself by still calling yourself degrading slave terms to define who you are as a person such as the term "African American" for instance which originates from a group of formerly enslaved individuals who had no idea who they were genetically nor where their African ancestors were taken from before slavery happened it's very important for you to realize that you made it fam finally you have escaped the plantation thus you're now free to fully identity yourself as a Namibian women besides from how I see it if you would've asked me that's a dang great achievement for any Africans whose ancestors were deported during the transatlantic Maafa as a matter of fact I was inspired by you to try to emulate the same journey with my own family hopefully sooner rather than later... 😅
Greetings from the Motherland! The name of the organization I moved to Namibia with is Worldteach (www.worldteach.org).
Hey kaylan this was all part of Gods plan for you. I am so glad you filmed this. It's really helpful to our new followers, welcome ya'll.

Beautiful story! So glad I watched this! I recently moved FROM Namibia to cold windy winter parts of the world :P I wish you all the best in my homeland!
As a long time subscriber, I just love to see you doing so well and happy! Just glowing - you had the courage and made the right decision
Hi, I'm in Kenya and have a brother in Kansas "Karibu" (welcome) to Kenya

Thank god we only have one hater so far. Shame on you for disliking this informative vlog. She is actually living the American dream in Africa. Her own house and family.
Lance is growing up so well! He’s a nice mix of you and your husband.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Wonderful
Amazing video and story! I love this and thanks for making this video and will be following your journey!

Great inspiration you are!! Love the person you are!!
I’m thinking of relocating to The French West Indies, or the French speaking islands in Africa. I’m not happy in the states. I would go back to Haiti(where my mom’s from) but the political instability scares me a bit.
Go to Ghana
Come to South Africa
Oh, my sister. I am from Barbados as well. Your mum gave you an excellent foundation. May God rest her soul.
I want to see the sossuvlei one day. It looks so cool in pictures.
Oh yes very inspirational fearlessness and proudness of your foundation we'll follow suit
Thank you for sharing sis! You are inspiring, uplifting and beautiful! Blessings
Great story. Well executed approach. ✊🏿

Enjoy some of that warm weather for me to would you please! Lucky man you have , hope I can find me a beautiful black woman like yourself. Keep it black.
Eddie abc I know, the winters are tough! ❄️
Pray for the Most High to send one your way and live upright meantime.
Grand Rising My Sister, Keep the video coming.
You and your family are an inspiration!
What a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing and may the blessings of the Lord always be with you.
ReplyMNO thank you ♥️
AfroAmericaninAfrica
You are welcome and I can already see the blessing that you are in that community.
Very insightful. Very profound. I feel somewhat ashamed that you had more courage than I did in my twenties. You are something special. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for your perspectives. S
Good morning from my end new York city thanks for sharing
Shalom sista! I am the Bronx native who commented previously.
BRAVO to you! Thank You for this video..it explains a lot and gives excellent info although I think at this point I'm only willing to visit (in Namibia's summer of course) it will be good to leave the cold east coast for warm sun! And yes, I really want to see what it will be like to be in an All Brown environment. Thank you again and may the love of Almighty Yahuah shine upon you and your family always!
Dear sister I know that you aren't doing it on purpose but would you please stop devaluing yourself by still calling yourself degrading slave terms to define who you are as a person such as the term "African American" for instance which originates from a group of formerly enslaved individuals who had no idea who they were genetically nor where their African ancestors were taken from before slavery happened
it's very important for you to realize that you made it fam finally you have escaped the plantation thus you're now free to fully identity yourself as a Namibian women besides from how I see it if you would've asked me that's a dang great achievement for any Africans whose ancestors were deported during the transatlantic Maafa as a matter of fact I was inspired by you to try to emulate the same journey with my own family hopefully sooner rather than later... 😅
Come home bro
