    I think Brian hit the nail on the head about your professionalism. These videos are so helpful, you recently gave me some advice on getting my forks back together easily, as I was having trouble with the damper rods, all sorted thanks to you. Appreciate the time you take to upload your work. Always look forward to the next job 😀

    I think the spring puts tension on the cutting bit, so it doesn't dig in too deep.

    Can this kit be used on a gtr1000...as the valves are really close to the spark plug hole.. and i was thinking it would cut into the valve sitting...

    when you blew all the swarf out the cylinder with the air gun, i could see the piston was not top dead center so some of the valves would still be open, do you think you may have blown swarf in them ???

      Engine is half way up the compression stroke, if it's got an open valve at that point a stripped Spark Plug Thread is the least of it's problems!

      @@SEANO1810put your finger over the hole. On compression you can feel the air pressure. Then insert a zip tie or screwdriver in the hole & rotate the wheel in 6th gear to find the bottom & top of the stroke.

    I think the odd remaining metal chips in the cylinder will get blown out through the exhaust port when you start up the engine, maybe even if they had grease on them too.

    • @SuperbikeSurgeryTV
      @SuperbikeSurgeryTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately they find their way under the valve seat in most cases then it's cylinder head off. Up to you though. I'm not the one having to remove the head 😁

    Isn't the spring for holding the cutter in place on the tool. So you don't drop it. ?
    Shit, just got to the part where you told what it was for.

    that's the difference between a real expert and a self=anointed youtube expert, the real expert knows using grease when you cut the new threads in a cylinder head is one of the dumbest things you can do because it can trap metal shavings inside the cylinder and take out a valve or worse......

    I'm confused...you say the FJR is a 10mm plug and the XJR is a 12mm yet Colin supplied you with a 10mm...are you talking about the length of the 'sert? (12mm being long reach, so the 'sert was 12mm x 10mm x 1.25?)

    He’ll notice a difference running that, presume a dodgy plug thread would have given poor compression while running before it gave out.

      on an old 4cyl bike i bet you could drive it for years like that thinking it was a carburetor problem and not wanting to fix it.

    • @tykendrick800
      @tykendrick800 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sixstringsbent if I remember right I don't think I used a countersink. But either way you can just get a drill bit set and use that. But I just used what was in the kit. And slowly carefully screw that thing in making sure it's straight. Seem complicated but it was super easy. I used grease to help keep shavings from falling in. But honestly they will just blow out when u start the bike. Good luck
