It seems to me every woman Captain Kirk fell in love with died, or was left behind on some planet. Again thanks for the upload love this behind-the-scenes stuff!
There was a formula for TV back in the 60s 70s and 80s. And at the end of every episode that formula had to stay intact. Even if the stories connected the audience has to be able to walk in in the middle of the show and know exactly what's going on. That is why the lead character could never have a permanent long-term relationship. So the solution was always to end any deep relationship with a serious tragedy. This happened on all the drama shows of the time. The only time long-term relationships were created on TV where on sitcoms and even then it was always between two leading characters that were there from the start.
Miramanee was the hottest of Kirk's girls, I think BTW...I love your avatar..I was a big fan of STARZ back in the day . I had all their albums and even saw them live at The Starwood in Los Angeles.
Miramanee and her baby's fate is revisited in Star Trek Continues. I'm a huge Trek fan, and I absolutely loved STC. The first episode wraps up "Who Mourns for Adonais?" and is actually extremely good.
The only weak point of this episode is they don't demonstrate why her injury was so severe they were untreatable, she was a good character and a good story nonetheless
@@purefoldnz3070 You probably mean episodes like Spock's Brain or even worse the last episode where a woman switched bodies with Kirk to get command of the Enterprise. That was so bad 🤢. But there were also episodes like the Paradise Syndrome or the Enterprise Incident. They were really cool.🖖😃
@@harvey2906 not only was Turnabout Intruder one of the worst episodes of Trek (the one where kirk becomes a woman) it was the last one of TOS. Thank god it was cancelled before Star Trek become pure cheesy, low budget schlock.
@@purefoldnz3070 That's true. NBC did everything it could to get rid of Star Trek. Ironically, Star Trek was actually what they were looking for most: a series that appealed to the desired target audience. But they didn't see it. And after it was cancelled, Star Trek was shown by other local channels at better times and reached more viewers than before. A great comeback.🖖😀
@@harvey2906 its funny that what happened with TOS was the opposite with TNG. TOS started off great and kept getting worse and worse and with less of budget until it was canned. While TNG started off bad and got better and better until it got its own feature films
I honestly believe KIRK would've never looked back at the bridge and would've been happy to spend his days there raising his child had it ended up that way. The ONLY SPACE CHICK TO LASSO KIRK!!! 👌😁👍
One thing I have not heard anyone mention in this episode The Starfleet notices an asteroid is going to strike a planet they send the Enterprise to determine whether there is intelligent life on the planet and if so try to divert the asteroid even though it's a big strain on the ship of course the mission goes all kinds of sideways but eventually they succeed in the next generation there is an episode where the Enterprise knows a planet is going to be destroyed and they have to have a big debate on whether it's a violation of the prime directive to stop people from being annihilated even if the people won't know they did it ! and people say the original series was less civilized?

True of course and the universal translator plot device doesn't work for this episode, however realism does not always make good story telling and months of learning new language at every new group of aliens encountered would slow the story down a bit
@@johntabler349 why not - always had the understanding the Universal translator was always with them - in some form or fashion - on them/ or with them -- otherwise they'd be spending time studying language and the show would have said so at some point some where at the beginning of the series. But they spoke English everywhere in Star Trek, and they explained it several times during the series, in fact during this episode as well, as to why that happened.

WOW . . . . That is some powerful dialog !!!! It would have been amazing to keep that in the episode. Thank you for sharing these awesome scenes.
It just doesn't fit the story.
They should have that last "I'm a man " scene in. Classic Kirk oratory. Might have made this episode a little more watchable.

Lots of Shatnerian acting going on there.

Some great Shatner dialog here. "I'm a man!" This would have been a classic Kirk quote.
Absolutely. I love these deleted scenes
Yes, I agree with you. This dialog would have certainly made the episode stronger.
He knew he was a man even with most of his memories erased and he knew what a woman was

Bet you seen Matt Walsh's " What is a Woman"
At least they knew back in the day what the heck what a Man and a Woman were.

Star Trek is still a Masterpiece. ✌️
not the later episodes
