Enjoyed watching and nice to hear an honest review, music to loud and made it harder to listen to what you was saying but guess you know that now others have said the same, can you recommend a camera for £500-£1000 that would beat this iPhone 15 pro max as looking 🤓
I could guess all 4 photos from the iphone just by looking at the sharpening. but without them being side by side it would not be possible to see those differences
Im a photographer as well. ive been using sony a7iii for years. Like you too, i came to iphone 15 pro from iphone 11 - base model, and holyyyyy I brought my camera and the iphone 15 pro to vegas, utah and grand canyon last month. I basically took the same shots on the alpha and the iphone one after another, and only the iphone when i know i cant take on alpha (pitch black, no tripod available) And the results…. My god…the phone produces the same 24MP of a photo. And many photos were ok to use straight out of the phone, which cuts lightroom time. and the night mode? Omfg, the phone captured things i couldnt even see with my eyes. Like i was at a bridge somewhere and i barely could see my fingers but the phone produced a picture that’s absolutely stunning…. I have to say. Given the convenience of not having to carry, or edit much, this is a game changer…. Either i have to spend thousands of dollars on a new camera - a7iv? Or i just need to only worry about composition… this is nuts…
it honestly is so handy to have. I used to be stressed about having the right gear or two bodies on any social media commercial gigs I had. Now I just bring one camera body and am not at all stressed cause I know i have the phone in my pocket. Definitely impressed like you.
I have an a7siii and I usually shoot content on my camera and phone, but my clients like the colors and look of iPhone footage better- which is wild to me.
Haha this is the modern videographers daily struggle 😂 So… you want to pay me my normal rates…. But you want me to NOT use my professional camera…. Why again?
The hair in the shot in the mountains definitely displays what you said. If the hair wasn’t flicking around in the wind, I think I’d have a hard time telling
I'm a professional videographer so I'm used to color grading and distinguishing camera image production. I guessed all of them correctly. Thanks for the comparison! Although the images captured by iPhone are so good, I think professionals can still distinguish them from mirrorless camera.
I think for trained people it’s easy to distinguish the iPhone pictures. But sometimes I was like « wow okay ». On the Log footage, for example, Matty did a video on it and with the speed of the editing, sometimes it’s just like almost indistinguishable. Since I bought the Pro, that’s why I started using a mobile rig to do video. Always wanted to do video, didn’t had the money for a proper rig. So yeah. Game changer!
I got them all right, but tbh I guessed the last one and I took ages working them out. Incredible that this is how close the iPhone is to mirrorless...
I guessed all correct on the basis of the “fake shallow depth of field” effect that can be seen in the hairs. Sometimes hair gets blurred at the outer section even though the hair doesn’t optically move away from the lens (and therefore should remain sharp). But… we are at that stage of tech where I need to pay attention to point out the iPhone one 😅
It won’t happen, but as a photographer, my wishlist for the 16 Pro Max is that they put in 5 dedicated lenses all with 48 mp sensors!…an ultra wide(13mm), a 1x(24mm) a 3x(77mm), a 5x(120mm) & a 10x(240mm). 👍🏼 😉
@@calincharles what I’d really is a Apple dedicated camera, I’d love to see how Apple does it. I love the iPhone pro series the fact I can shoot, edit, distribute & watch the final product on TH-cam is badass.
I got all of them except the last one. Crazy where the iPhone camera has come to! I have a 15 Pro Max and many times when using the camera using it for filming. And for that, it’s really awesome! Greeting from Switzerland!
@@calincharles It’s excellent for a phone and for what I need it I don’t need any camera else. But every needs is different and sure a Sony or Canon might still be better. But for a phone, it is hard to be beaten!
Thanks Brett. I honestly was pretty rushed with this one due to all the projects so was worried about the end result. Glad you liked it. Haha foggy Calgary days make for epic backdrops downtown
I guess all 4, because iPhone tend to give warmer skin tone compared to proper camera. Besides that, everything looks about the same for my eyes which is mind blowing 🤯 Btw, thank you for the preset!!
Blackmagic HEVC + Apple log is almost indistinguishable from ProRes log. I wish the 120mm was also 48mpix, but it's still much better than extreme zooming with the main sensor. Shooting 48mp RAW still has too much processing (Can turn it down somewhat in LR). The 24mp is good enough, but I still shoot RAW often, just in case.
Definitely impressed by the quality of them! I think the everyday person won’t be able to tell the difference. I had photographers messing up when I asked on my IG
I could guess all the 4(with great difficulty!). Edge detection of 15 pro max was weak compared to the dslr. And also the contrast was a bit high in 15 pro max too.
I think if the wind wasn’t blowing the girls hair in the mountains, that edge detection would have been way less noticeable, but I agree. Once you get into the low aperture settings, it becomes dicey
Yeah sorry about that. It was trying to finish it up at 2am between chaotic commercial video & photo production projects and “done was better than perfect”
Really good demonstration of this camera - oops, I just can't think of it as a phone any more! I could tell that you're a professional by the way you referred to the 5X lens as 5 TIMES- too many so-called reviewers insist of saying the 'X' as "ecks". which makes no sense and really shows that they just don't understand the terminology...
At 3:51, i'm looking at them side by side, in a 480p video quality in a picture-in-picture mode, the physical size of it on the screen is 2.5in by 6in and i can't really tell the difference other than the right one has a bit more blurry background.
I have a problem with the iPhone video camera; it is very good but I notice a downside, my dog shows it far too white, any idea how to solve that or is there little you can do about it? It kind of ruins my videos, way too white.
I would not call it ProwRaw. It's ProRes422, 10bit per channel. And its HUGE in filesize. 1.4GBit/sec compared to 50MBit/sec in HVEC. With the 24mm lens and it's sensor... it captures 13.8 stops of dynamic range. To compare it to the original bmpcc... and stop down the noise floor a bit... The 15ProMax gives just clean and ready to use 12 stops finest 4k 50p or 60p in ProRes 422 LOG. This footage look close to the C300 , FS7/F55 or original Arri Alexa, just in proper 4k UHD. Of course, if there is no light, there is no reason to shoot with the 15ProMax. But Arri, Canon and Sony give just the same result in NO LIGHT condition. Put a lightweight LED Video light on your Ulanzi ST27 Ironman clamp and shoot at night finest ProRes, if you need. I can say, the jump up in quality of the footage coming from a EDC smartphone is unbelievable excellent. So now, I have a little arri alexa with a 13/24/120 cine prime set in my pocket. The difference to big film gear is'nt clear visible anymore if you know how to use it properly. IT IS NOT a RONIN Replacement! So if you shoot on the internal Stab... the quality falls apart with a loss of 30% or more picture quality. But as really any cine camera sit on a tripod with heavy fluid head, do not expect a small iPhone do the magic without a proper tripod. :)

I think the model lost focus in her hair in the last shot too which gave it away.
But yeah totally agree, just seeing it alone, I’m super impressed

4 out of 4. Depth of field fallout and sharpening are dead giveaways. Other than that, it's amazing how far smartphone photography has progressed.
