Diogenes treatment of Plato’s rug reminds me of Cappelle as Rick James and his disrespectful treatment of Eddie Murphy’s expensive couch😂. Also the narrator leaves out the best part of the story of Diogenes on the slaves block where he was asked what were his skills and he answered “I’m a leader of men anyone who needs a good master should buy me!” And so someone did! The buyer put Diogenes in charge of he two young children, a boy and girl, they later became leading citizens of their cities.
Love this channel and always glad to see a new upload. Videos like these always make me think of the ancient world in a way I dont usually. Really interesting to see how ideas could spread from region to region
The richest most powerful man in the world ask the poorest most lowly "Do you want anything I'll give you whatever you ask for." The poor man answered. " I do have a request. If you could just step two pases to the left your blocking my sunlight."
Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist, who wore camel hair cloak and ate wild honey. Sounds like a cynical character to me. This is a great video. I think it would be improved by a discussion of the nature and influence of John the Baptist.
This is an amazing example of what Jesus actually was . . And where is style came from , . Still the question is , was the bible partly false in not the way to live life but did Moses actually talk to God himself, and what happened to jesus body in the tomb . . Spiritually speaking do some beings as jesus and some saint hood types etc never become part of the universes energy but stays within a spiritual world full of God like beings ?
The scene with the plucked chicken between Plato and Diogenes likely never happened. If you read Plato's dialogue Statesman, where that exact definition of "featherless biped" was lifted, you'd see in context that Plato was heavily critical of such sterile definitions as having anything to do with the essence of a being. It sounds like somebody read Plato's dialogue poorly, didn't understand the irony, and then came up with their own headcanon with Diogenes. I hate that apocryphal story for that reason, and I hate Diogenes for becoming the vehicle of many other kinds of frivolous nonsense.
Love looking up “cynic jesus” every once in a while on the ol utubez and this popped up from a day ago. Cheers to the cynical, impoverished, virtuous Gzus.
Sorry this one took so long! Editing in After Effects is a b*tch when you only have 8 gb of ram 😅Hopefully the visual upgrade was worth the wait. 😋
Diogenes washing veggies in the river was the first meme
He was also the first troll, trolling Plato and Alexander. ;)
@@lievenyperman9363 he came from a long line of trolls.
Great video. Good info and very well edited. Thank you!

I would posit that Hamashiach is a stoic with cynical predispositions.
John the Baptist though… That man was a cynic to the bone.
Interesting video!
