- Roller Coaster, often nicknamed the White Roller Coaster due to the previously white color, at Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah, United States, is the oldest roller coaster at the park. It is a wooden roller coaster owned by Lagoon. Built-in 1921 and operating ever since the Roller Coaster is the seventh oldest roller coaster in the world and the fourth oldest in the United States.
The Roller Coaster was designed by John A. Miller and opened in 1921. In 1953, a fire damaged the coaster and burnt down the rest of the park, meaning the station and lift hill had to be rebuilt.[2] Over the years it has had computer upgrades and new trains installed. In 2005, it became an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark for being a classic coaster. In October 2012, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The ride has no real official name other than "Roller Coaster", so the locals often call it the White Roller Coaster. The park has recently stopped painting the ride, so it will gradually move from white to natural brown as Lagoon rebuilds a section of the ride per off-season, to help preserve the Roller Coaster. However, the nickname stuck, and people continue calling it the White Roller Coaster despite it now being brown.
In early 2018 the ride opened with new Great Coasters International trains, instead of the original 4x3x2 Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters trains. The entrance was moved to where the original exit was and has a wall explaining the history of the coaster. The ride experience was not changed.
The Roller Coaster starts with a turn out of the station and over to the lift hill where it rises 60 feet (18 m). The train then plunges down the first hill and up the next and down again around the west turn and into a several more series of hills gradually getting smaller around two more turns before returning to the station.
A number of accidents have occurred on the Roller Coaster since its opening, though all were related to the persons' own misconduct. In 1989, a 13-year-old girl stood up and fell 35 feet to her death. She died at the scene. At least two more deaths have occurred over the years. In 1934, Henry Howe, 20, of Ogden, Utah fell to his death as he attempted to stand up when the train was on its highest hill. Howe hit a number of support trestles on the way down. In 1946, James Young Hess was struck by the train as he was working on scaffolding on the ride. Hess suffered skull, leg and arm fractures and internal injuries before dying on September 1, 1946.

I love this one! This past summer I went to Lagoon and rode on roller coasters for the very first time. I was 11 then. I am 12 now. I went on the ride Bombora here at Lagoon. I wasn't expecting anything too crazy but I came off the ride crying. Later I went on this ride and the ride called the wild mouse and I loved both rides. The next day I went on this ride like 7 times in a row with my cousin.
Yes I love this ride
First rode this as an 8 year old in 1968, scared the dickens outa me! Now, @ 62, I ride it 2-3 times a week! Of all the rides @ Lagoon, this is my "go to"!
I remember when it use to be painted white, just rode is again after 20+ years and just as fun as ever.
Yeh it’s not painted white bc when it was white coaster it killed a little innocent 13 year old little girl bc restraint was shitry and when she went to get air and stand and raise arms she got ejected and died , HOW IS THIS RIDE ALLOWED TO OPERATE WHEN IT KILLED A 13 years old little girl !!!!!
@@valentinadallasbecause they replaced the cars with modern, safer ones, many coasters that have killed people in the past were kept in operation after the incident, albeit with safety improvements.
And that’s not why it isn’t white anymore. Maintaining the white paint was too expensive and took too much effort and time, so Lagoon just stopped. They let the existing paint peel away, and every time they replaced a piece of wood with a new one, they didn’t paint the replacement white.
looked this up after reading about the two deaths that occurred on this ride, makes the "do not stand up" sign somewhat haunting
Can you imagine what people thought about this ride 100 years ago let alone now! One of my favorite’s! ❤
This ride never gets old fav ride there!
Over cannable😂
U trippin
Km to much of a wimp to go on canable 🤣 🤣
I’m so scared I’m going tommrow and my sisters want me to go on this ride but I’m Jaír so sacred too
@@palomagutierrez7597 it may seem scary at first but trust me it's very fun you will have no regrets going on this!
Oh man, this video is bringing back so many good memories of back when I worked this ride in my ride op days at Lagoon....
That sounds so cool that you got to work there!! Was it easy to get the job! Every time my family goes to Lagoon my siblings and I talk about how cool it would be to work at Lagoon!! Is it cool? Is it fun? I might have just found my new model because it shows me I can get the job if I work hard enough. Also what do you even have to be educated in to get a job at Lagoon? As I said in my earlier comment I am only 12 so I don't know this kind of stuff.

My last ride on this coaster was 1975 and I’m actually moving to Idaho from San Antonio in two months and plan to visit lagoon on way.
Some of the track sections looks go have a wider top steel plate, similar to the track found on Gravity Group inversions.
With GCI "revitalized" trains this looks incredibly enjoyable. Definitely a bucket list park, everyone of course talks about Cannibal, Wicked, but Spider, Roller Coaster, the shwarzkopf...there's much new, old, and the 1990's-2000's era stuff here and is rounded out very well. Now they gotta get a B&M hyper, and a vekoma flying coaster and it'd be pretty 100%
This is my home park I don’t think they will get a B&M hyper sadly I wish that could happen but they do have a Vekoma inverted coaster The Bat. I hope they get a Vekoma fying coaster
What an old beauty! Looks like so much fun!
THE SIRENS I MISS THEM I ONLY WENT TWO WEEKS AGO
"Caution! Do Not Stand Up"
That's not paranoia on the part of the park, kids. 2 people did exactly that and lost their lives on Roller Coaster: a 20 year old man in 1934 and a 13 year old girl in 1989. Do not try to get out from the restraints.
i remeber i used to call it the white rollercoaster growing up it is amazing!!
Yeah that’s what everyone calls it
One of my favorites
Bit of a rougher ride, but definitely a ride I try and make if/when I go
I love this ride so much!!!!
I'm a tornado siren enthusiast and I was at lagoon today and I rode this roller coaster. I almost passed out on the end
But how
I'm going to lagoon today but I went 2 weeks ago it was fun! I rode this ride but the drop made my heart sink i almost peed myself because of speed I'm still trying to get over my fear of rollercoasters😅
Fun ride I Love The ride So fun...!
The intro 🙌💯
This looks like fun.
Only "Leap the Dips" at Lakemont Park (Altoona PA) is older.
that is FALSE lagoon wooden coaster IS NOT THE 2ND OLDEST COASTER IN THE WORLD , IF YOU DOUBT ME LOOK IT UP !!
WOODEN COASTER AT LAGOON IS 6TH OLDEST OPERATING COASTER IN THE WORLD , IF YOU DOUBT THAT LOOK IT UP DAMN I'M TIRED OF BEING RIGHT!!

This ride used to be a rough ride and always gave me a headache. Looks like they’ve improved it over the years. Also, they used to have sheep and other animals in there, it was weird. Glad they don’t anymore. Always felt bad for the animals.
Today is Lagoon Roller Coaster's 100th Anniversary! Yay!
YES! Happy be-lated BIRTHDAY Roller Coaster!
I've traveled all over the world to ride Rollercoasters
Honestly one of my favorite rides at Lagoon, can be a little nerve wracking at first cause of the wooden tracks but honestly its so much fun once you get used to it!
Can I ask how did you take your camera on the ride cause when i went on this ride, They wouldn't let me bring my camera nor anything else i had with me on the ride. I would like to make videos of the rides at lagoon as well so I'm curious on how you convinced them to let you bring the camera on the ride. Please let me know thanks
It use to be called old rickety until the gci trains came along
is this lagoon's wooden coaster
My great grandma was the same age as the roller coaster and born in 1921 until she passed away in 2019
cool!
WTF@@jtwoolley
If it wasn’t such a rickety ride it would have been amazing lol but still very fun
It’s still great fun considering how old it is
It’s an 101 year old roller coaster what do you expect.
@@JoeSmith-qg5ur this one was actually rebuilt several times. the only reason it’s rickety is bc it’s wooden
@@codyconspiracy it’s still 101 years old.
@@JoeSmith-qg5ur the concept is, but it’s been rebuilt entirely. so the actual structure is only about 20-30 years old. it’s not rickety because it’s old.. in fact i just rode a ride that was over 100 years old and it was 10x smoother. it doesn’t matter how old the ride is, it’s all about what went in to building it. in the roller coasters case, it’s because it’s wooden and large
Hey anyone: Is the song at the beginning of the video Grim Grinning Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion at the Disney Parks?
Yes
I never went roller coaster like this
This ride was so boring when i went on it i was so disapointed by the lack of airtime. EVERYBODY says it has the best airtime in the park but I could argue wildmouse has GREAT airtime.
i always feel like im gonna hit my head on this ride😭
This is my favorite ride ever so far on what I have gone on it’s so fun but I don’t like the BUNNRR BUNNRR at the beginning
It used to be called the "Lagoon Dipper".
Pretty weird to see modern magnetic brakes on a century old wood coaster.
101 years old ROLLER COASTER
why do rides like these don’t look jerky on camera but in person it’s very jerky..
I was gonna go on that but from where I was standing the first drop looked steep even though I went on cannibal I just chickened out
I rod this and it’s a little rough but it is OK
Lol I lost a hat on this ride a few years ago
ah, thats the worst! I hope you found it!
Is this the one a little girl was thrown out of? I can see why you're supposed to follow the rules
why does it sound like minecraft mine carts going up the rails 😭
Is this ride very Shakey
Extremely
It's less Shakey now
it’s really smooth for a wooden coaster actually
Yeah, but super fun!
I had to take the walk of shame on this ride. Everybody was laughing, it was embarrassing.
I don’t dare ride that thing anymore. It’s made almost entirely out of wood it’s pretty sketchy lol
Who’s here after the oh shiitake mushroom’s video
45 mph
I think that's wrong wood otherwise it might fall over!
go GCI
