    I believe one of Lagoon’s managers said that one of the coasters that inspired Primordial was Verbolten. They loved how the three different shows gave a rerideability aspect to that coaster & the screams of surprise the drop track always got from first time riders, so they wanted to do it even better.

    Built it for the locals, the ending is no downside - huge upside to keep things interesting. For us crazy people traveling all the way out there for one day to ride it then yeah, you may not get the option you want, but that's still wicked cool they did that. May need to spend a couple days there now for your visits.

    I've ridden this twice, the first time I got the drop track ending with the owl, and the second time I go the backwards slide, also with the owl. I hadn't had any spoilers at all about the ride, the only thing I knew about it was that it went into the mountain, so literally just what I could see from the outside. When I went on it the first time I thought that we were gonna go back out of that ending area and basically just backtrack on the ride, but then we suddenly dropped, It took me so off guard. The second time when I got the backwards slide I still didn't really know anything about the ride other than what I'd seen, so when we started tilting backwards I kinda thought the ride was breaking.

    Spent a few months in Utah earlier this year while we were between houses, but didn't get a chance to get to Lagoon because it was mostly offseason. Will definitely need to go there next time we're in the area.
    The last time I went I was able to ride Cannibal, and was impressed with that but didn't see that as the type of thing that would work as well in another park. This, on the other hand, I could see them being able to sell to other parks and do quite well with (although the cost would limit the number of potential customers to mostly the Disney/Universal/Sea World level operators.)

    • @sazw.1797
      @sazw.1797 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some corrections: the vertical drop track would need to be over 30ft in order to beat Guardian (the current record), and the "slide track" is present on the newly opened Mission Ferrari (Dynamic Attractions SFX Coaster at Ferrari World - delayed by 6 years)

As for the drop track itself, it may still very well be the world's tallest, but it's probably only 20-25 feet tall.

    Hello, Utahn here, I go to Lagoon every week just to ride Primordial. Just wanted to give some lore since he didn't do the best job of explaining and I know people wanna know. The Lynx animatronic is Queen Azdra, she tells us that there are two legendary creatures who bring them day and night, Dragnor the dragon who raises the sun, and Astradir the owl who raises the moon. Suddenly, armies of evil creatures, mostly skeletons and trolls, came out of the mountain and chained up Dragnor and Astradir, robbing the kingdom of day and night. Azdra asks you to help defeat the evil armies alongside her two guards Puntice the lizard, and Atecta the wolf. When he mentions the skeleton before the finale, thats the signal that you're freeing Dragnor. If its Astradir, its a troll standing there instead. The skeleton and troll have nothing to do with which drop you get. Also, as of writing this, the highest score of all time is about 8000, which is crazy high. Hope you enjoy the lore as much as I do 😊

      It was less uncommon in older days (as another commenter said, the Beast), but basically Lagoon was looking for a family coaster and then when they realized nobody would do exactly what they wanted, they did BomBora on their own. The nice thing about it all is they try to source as much local work as is conceivable. On Cannibal, a majority of the track was manufactured a few hours away, so they made much longer pieces, which with fewer well points makes it smoother and stronger. Plus, it doesn't take as long to get parts to fix.

    Okay a few points.
    First of all, I love the work that went into this video, and I absolutely love the ride; it’s the reason I got a season pass this year.
    The facts in the video, though, I’m not buying. “Tallest drop track in the world”? Ummm I doubt it. I think it’s only one, maybe two, stories (feel free to dispute with sources if I’m wrong). I don’t doubt the Lagoon employees told you that, but I’d bet a large sum of money that’s not true. If someone has a source to disprove me, that’s fair and I’ll take the L.
    My biggest gripe is suggesting this is on par with Disney. No. Absolutely no. Not even close. To even suggest that is pure ignorance. I agree with the point that this is incredible for a regional park, but anything more is just purely wrong.

    I hope you know that primordial is not developed for utah. It is also in Europe under a different name. The "r&d" you speak of was finished already before they committed to building the ride.

    Lagoon doesn’t engineer the rides in house. They are designed by Art engineering.

    • @dillanconrad
      @dillanconrad ปีที่แล้ว

      Is ART engineering not Lagoon's in-house engineering team?

    • @Bob-w2b8j
      @Bob-w2b8j ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dillanconradI don't think so, they are a German engineering firm that also builds roller coasters in general, including for other parks. I think Lagoon's director of engineering used to work for Arrow though, so they actually do a lot of the design/engineering in house. I think ART may manufacture the ride or at least the track but could be wrong about that

    • @IndyCoasterCreator
      @IndyCoasterCreator ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Art engineering was contracted out for the ride system, Lagoon still designed and manufactured all of their in house coasters

    • @friedrich_ast1292
      @friedrich_ast1292 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dillanconrad no, its a German ride manufacturer. They are mainly known for their family coasters (f.e. Snoopys racing railway at canadas wonderland) and their wild swing flat rides in Europe.

    • @Conman19
      @Conman19 ปีที่แล้ว

      @IndyCoasterCreator Lagoon Designed it but didn't manufacture it. Technically, Triotech did. That's who ART engineering contracted for the manufacturer of the ride.

    I wouldnt really say „disney comes to utah“. Theres a huge gap in the themeing in my opinion. Just look at the empty plot right in front of the mqountain, taking out all the magic of the scenic view. The ride itself is really great

    More like lagoon went to Anaheim, this theme park is so old. Probably the oldest wooden roller coaster (it’s been fixed and stuff) that exists is there.

    From what I’ve heard Lagoon will be building new coasters way less often then most other parks then they use I’m guessing because they don’t want to max out all of their land too fast and have to start removing rides just to build new ones like some parks do. I highly doubt this is the last coaster, I’m sure they will definitely be building another coaster sometime in the future.

    This is not comparable to Disney or Universal; it's very good for a regional park. Their station is a McMansion, the outdoor sections look like they ran out of budget. I am not denying it's a good ride, but making the comparison to rides which are 100M+ it's not even a remotely fair comparison given the theming of those parks versus the execution here at Lagoon.

    Looks like a contender for the world's best screen based dark ride. While that isn't my favourite ride genre this still looks pretty good. And hey I like Wonder Mountain's Guardian and I would like Escape From Greengotts if it were theamed to anything else (ie the IP is the issue for me there) so combine those concepts minus the transphobic IP of EfG and you've got a great dark ride.
