The guy who gave them the barn: "they sound like they are really enjoying that barn..." Also the guy that gave them the barn: *hears dixie horn* "AW SHIT I FORGOT MY GENERAL LEE IN THERE"
To any kid who grew up in a late 70s/early 80s, an orange charger was friggin magical. That these kids even know what The General is makes me a happy guy. There;s hope yet!
I’d be in heaven if I were to find a Charger under wraps. But to discover it’s a restored General Lee is just on another level. The General and KITT were the cars of my early teens and have always stayed with me as being 2 of the most iconic cars in TV history. But the General was always just that little bit more special. Anybody who watched the Duke boys race him around week after week will understand when I say that car had a soul of its own.
Sir you made 3 boys extreemely happy, my father did the same thing in 1980 with a "Smokey and the Bandit" firebird. Though he is long since passed away i still remember that moment as if it was yesterday. Good for you man your kids will remember this for the rest of their lives.
not every day you find a restored running 1969 charger. (Post statement: It's definitely a 69 look at the grill pillar and the thin strip tail lights lol. But good lord I didn't expect so many people to reply to this comment much less 4 years later, and much less still that so many of you were painfully wrong xD)
Awesome.... hearing how excited those boys were, is totally cool. I can still remember how that car made me feel when I was a little boy, I still get all gooey when I see one in person. I would love to build my own General Lee someday!!!
Nice stage job for the boys! When they touch the hood to pull the pins and one exclaims "it feels hot", and clearly the motor is spotless. I envy those boys if my parents had ever done anything so cool.
Come on now... everyone knows that the real General Lee's doors didn't open they were welded shut, but on the real... this is a home run in keeping dreams alive when kids are growing up. 100% awesome dad!!! One of the cooliest videos I've ever seen.👍👍👍
Brings back memories when I was a kid...that's what got me into American muscle. The General Lee, Starsky and Hutch, Bullit, Night Rider, and one of the rigs I loved was BJ Mackey.
You are absolutely right. Who cares if it was set up. That was a moment that those kids will remember for the rest of their lives. If I found the General Lee in our barn when I was 12, I would have peed myself!! Hell, I'm 45 now and if I found that in my barn today, I would probably still pee myself! Haha! That was AWESOME!!!!
Coz every car Ive ever pulled out of a barn and restored has a fully charged battery, pumped up tyres, non-stale-fuel, a non-seized carburetor, and no rats nest in the engine bay blocking the air intakes.
I Would love one not many of them over here in the UK you cant beat an old classic i still watch them call me sad but it reminds me of the good old days

I just don’t understand how people can’t enjoy life. Not talking about depressed people and all that but I mean there’s people who are always negative and have to find something to bitch about. They just can’t enjoy a cool video of a dad making his kids happy
Am I the only one who heard belt squeal. The car wasnt perfect. But I will say that 440 was healthy. Perhaps he was surprising his kids with a car he had just bought. I have 6 boys and that is how they act when they are excited. Leave it be. If it was fake so what.
Success SourcesBT I stand corrected, was not looking that close at the engine, but rater listening to the exhaust sing. The 440 has a unique exhaust ring (as does a Hemi).
Yep a car sitting in storage cover in a tarp isn't gonna be dusty the engine will work the horn will work and the wheels aren't dry rotted.... Seems legit...

Um. News flash. It was a setup for the kids. Yoy
it has new tx stikals

PURE JOY...from when I was 5 or 6 to now... 40 years later, the General Lee still gives me that same euphoric feeling.

I am not seeing where they said it was a 383. Ah well 383 440 same block. Go troll someone else.

Nope, not the same block, the 383 is a "B" engine, the 440 is an "RB" engine.

Hey parents, cute job with the kids! they will always remember that.. BUT, that was TOTALLY STAGED! I'm sure for the kids benefit.. and that's cool..
You should be a detective
Donald Oxner you should be a comedian.
Yes this was staged, yes it was a nice “surprise” for the kids that have no clue. Cool car. I have a 61 t-bird tho.
Night Assassin I’ve found barn finds with flawless interiors before, but the whole exterior is impossible.
Oh yeah it was staged. But I'll bet the kids spend more time in the garage learning something and less time sitting on video games
Adam Sears based off how they new what it was and it wasn’t an actual find I’d say the parents probably raised the kids with little to no video games.
This is so DOPE I wish I had a general lee. I love the dukes of hazzard its my favorite TV show.
