Congratulations when do you ship out to bootcamp! You don’t have to know anything about dental you will learn everything that you need to know in dental assisting school. And of course once you go to your first duty station you’ll learn a lot more since you’re actually working with dentists and seeing patients. I’m here to help in anyway that i can. And is there any way to advance quickly? Also can you rank up by just taking college classes?( I join as e2 because I am 3 credits away From the qualification for e3 🫠)
Mhm yes and no. To you it might seem slow but you have to put the work in to make rank, once you check into your first duty station you’ll see that there’s a lot that goes into making rank. Maybe in corpsman school or dental assistant school your instructors can go into detail what it is that you have to do on your part to make rank in the Navy. Yes, you can make rank by going to school but it gives you points on your annual evaluation when your being compared to your peers in your work area. What makes the difference is you actually getting the degree. Advancement from E1-E3 is automatic and that’s the only rank that is automatic advancement. From E-2 to E-3 nine months so you’ll make E-3 soon.
@@leijing5771 Hi! I don’t remember what i got on my ASVAB, it was a few weeks ago. You will be able to see what jobs you pick when you go to MEPS. If you are interested in HMDA you will have to tell your MEPS Liaison and your recruiter.
This might be stupid question but do we get deployed on just hospital ships as dental assistants or do we get deployed wherever they need us (etc destroyers or green side)? I only ask cause I know we have to go to A school and then do the dental course.
Hi! That’s not at all a stupid question, but to answer your question we can get deployed on any platform. It doesn’t matter what kind of ship it is it doesn’t necessarily have to be our hospital ships (USS COMFORT or USS MERCY) you can also deploy with a green side unit. Even if you are at a shore command and you are a deployable person they can pull you to go wherever you are needed !
Ok Hii, I hope you’re still replying to questions! I had a question about getting into HMDA. I know you can go to HM A-school and choose the option of what job you want to do and then you go to C-school. But you had said you signed a contract for HMDA at MEPS and that made me more confident in picking that because I knew I could for sure end up in dental and not general health because I can only work with teeth when it come to health 😭. I asked my recruiter and she said I could only go to A-school and pick DA but Isn’t mentioning signing a contract at MEPS for HMDA. Could you explain it a little more please I’m so confused. Also when you go to HM school isn’t there a possibility you won’t even make it in dental and end up getting whatever jobs are left based off of your GPA from A-school? Sorry for the super long question I need to understand lol
Hi!! Unfortunately your recruiter is wrong, DA is only contacted !! You don’t get to pick it in A-School because it’s something thats contracted from the get go. Before DA use to be ‘DT’ and it was a rate just by itself but this was many many many years ago. Now it’s been combined with the HM rate but it’s still a rate that’s contracted so they can guarantee the personnel to help with manning numbers straight out of MEPS. Thank you so much for this video, i got into the HM grouping and was so overwhelmed on what specific route to go into with the job but this seems really interesting and like something id actually enjoy a lot! Do you choose to specialize in dentist assistant and head to c-school near the end of A-school, how would specifically choosing this job go?
Hey!! Thanks for watching the video! So when it comes to a specific route that is known as a NEC you can research the ones you like now but you can only pick them at A-school when your class picks "orders", your class is told what specific C-school options are available and you pick from there, if you do not pick you may or may not be given a random one. I got the Dental Assistant specialty given to me at MEPS it was apart of my contract. It is the only NEC given to you with you contract. If you do not get a NEC after A-school you can head to the fleet and put in a package to ask to go to a NEC school I believe after two years. If this does happen you can ask your leadership and or peers to help you or you can always come back to this video and I will try my best to guide you and I can ask around for help..
