I served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman (‘64-‘68) w/the Marines in Nam in 1966. I don’t believe Amphib Recon Corpsman, or SEALS, was a thing in my time. Went through boot camp & Corpsman A School at the Lakes and agree the corpsman training was not that tough to pass. Pay attention in class, study at night & you’ll pass the exams w/o too much trouble. I’m a living example of that, only VERY old now.

Former Navy Corpsman. Served during the Storm in the Desert. Thank you gentlemen for your service as well as this TH-cam post. Especially, am grateful for the discussion surrounding coming home and being feed up with the system. Took me a few years to acclimate to civilian life and the VA was not helpful with that transition. Thank you again for this real conversation.

I was always impressed when I met a Recon Corpsmen definitely had their stuff together. Hey a few guest suggestions anyway you can get one of the Marines who served in Det One who was kicked out of Afghanistan by for a so called bad shooting or a Marine who served with Army Delta it would interesting to hear his experience as a Marine working with a tier one Army unit. Semper Fi

I served as a FMF Corpsman with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company Pathfinder platoon 73-76 after serving in 1/9 during the Get out of Town tour Vietnam 72. Though I'd found my home. Put ernest money down on a home in NC. I was gonna be a 25yr old single home owner as a HM2. Airborne, Combat Swimmer, Marine Reconnaissance, xtrained 0341 for fun, Ranger course, LRSD Ldrs course, Military Freefall.
The Navy decided I'd be better as a independent Corpsman on a fleet Auxiliary oiler (civilians) for my final year. 14 months, 71 days in port in a year, no leave cuz your the only medical professional on board.
Joined the Army to become a 18D, its a direct path into the PA Warrant Officer position. The Army SF board decided they needed 18E Communications more at the time. Became a Signal Intelligence Warrant, and commissioned in MI. Retired in 06 as a LTC.
If they had the complete SARC program back then I'd have done all I could to stay Navy.

Totally stoaked to see Will! I was in MSOC H with him (I was the Supply Chief and he was with Team 3). Totally great dude, mad chill, funny as hell.
I totally remember when you guys had to make the move to DIB. For the life of me, I can’t remember the name of the FOB y’all were on other than the Spanish Forces were there too. I had gone down to collect any gear that wasn’t going to DIB and bring it back to SOTF-HQ in Herat (Hotel HQ had its own portion of the camp that went from being called Camp Milam to Camp Lawton). As for them losing their Team Chief, he ended up coming down to us for a while and he was one of the and remains one of the best dudes I had ever met. I was going through a real nasty divorce following that deployment and he would always check up on me to see how I was doing. Hell, Dan New lived next door to me in the barracks and he too was a huge support during that time. Dan’s actually my son’s Godfather.
Best of luck in life to both of you guys!

Been using kratom for 5 years. It saved my job and let me live a normal life. I was managing a gym and power lifting at the time. I blew out 2 disc's and tore a hip labrum. Given my history, there was no way I was going down the pain pill road. Unfortunately, the physical dependence and withdrawal are very real and very terrible. I would strongly recommend being very careful with your dosage and try to take time off. I owe a lot to kratom though. I was able to avoid surgery and rehab my injuries and manage intense, debilitating pain without pain killers.

From what I know, they’re still called SARCs. They’re just qualified as SOIDCs. Kind of like how a 68W in the Regiment who’s been to the 18D is still a medic.

68Ws from the Regiment don't go to the full 18D course, they go to SOCM, which is just the first half of 18D.
There are no SARC billets in the Navy anymore. Just SOIDC.

Ended up being late to formation while in SOCM. I got chewed out for being late LOL. Never told instructors why I was late, they didn't give a shit anyway. Like yea sgt, I just helped save 2 peoples lives 10 minutes ago but fuck me for being late right? ended up being relieved from the program a few weeks before the end, and during my review board I explained that day, and one of the members was a Civil affairs NCO and all he said was "that's great, but were you being shot at?" I said, negative. And he said "then who fucking cares" ... bro... rgr that sgt I'll be sure to get shot at next time when using what yall taught us to help others in order for it to matter hahah.

In reference to timestamp 1:32:00 (Did Biden win): As a Marine Corps veteran and Independent, I feel it is CRITICAL to ensure ALL PEOPLE, regardless of political affiliation or country of origin, understand the that America didn't vote for Biden, they voted AGAINST Donald Trump, and the current radicalized RIGHT in positions of power (key distinction between the population of Conservatives vs the Elected Officials that operate using Fascist rulesets) now currently hold a record of trying to end democracy THREE TIMES in less than 100 years. What instances are these?
1.) The Business Plot/Wall Street Putsch (A fellow Devil Dog STOPPED this from happening...Semper Fi)
    2.) Watergate
3.) 1/6 "Peaceful Tourist Day" ensuring to hit every checkmark clearly defined in the Big Blue Book of Federal Law: Federal statute defines domestic terrorism as:
    Activities that--

    (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of
    the United States or of any State;
    (B) appear to be intended--

    (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or
    kidnapping; and
    (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
For those of us form STEM backgrounds that use math and statistics as a tool to do our jobs in both the public and private sector, seeing that the "Conservative Right of Elected Officials/Public Employees" hit the the "magic number THREE" regarding real attempts at taking it upon themselves to decide "what's best" for the people, instead of doing the job of REPRESENTING the people (Majority...a KEY component in Democracy...), I would hope ring the alarm bells in all of our (military veterans or active duty service members) heads. They started going off for ME the moment Draft Dodging, Tax Fraud Professional Trump (a NAME he EARNED based on FACTUAL information...not "fake news"...), made "predictions" that the only way he would lose the Primary election, is if it was RIGGED. A tried and true tactic of despicable fascist dictators of the past.
That being said, as an Independent, lets cross check those results with the "mythical" Radical Left and their attempts to DIRECTLY Undermine the US Constitution and The WILL OF THE People:
    1.)
    2.)
    3.)
    Zero...
If you understand the point I'm trying to make, then you'll fully understand WHY, "We The PEOPLE", voted AGAINST Trump and the current state of the Republican party (only referring to ELECTED officials, NOT Republican/Conservatives Citizens as a whole). Their behavior and repeat violation of the most sacred ruleset/framework of Democracy (The MAJORITY Rule...) is absolutely inexcusable and cheapens the "price" too many American men and women paid (with their lives...) to keep OUR Democracy alive.
The only two elected officials on the Right I'd gladly stand behind, are Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney.
Both of them were willing to end their political careers to put the US Constitution and The Will of the People ABOVE One person and ONE party; that act EARNS my respect as a Marine Corps veteran and US Citizen.
To be clear, this does NOT mean the "left" are "angels" or "Biden" is a good leader. But please realize that voting for Biden was a TACTICAL move, by THE PEOPLE (majority, as the Primary Election results, 3rd party election audit results, repeat failed attempts to produce REAL evidence proving otherwise are all public record now), to pick the "best of the worst" regarding the fate of OUR Democracy. He violated the most sacred rule/framework, of what OUR brothers and sisters in arms PAID the ultimate price for.
The time (most valuable asset all of us OWN) and energy I've spent cranking out this "off the cuff rant" is a continuation of MY oath to UPHOLD and DEFEND the US Constitution and the Will of the People, ABOVE ONE party and ONE person, against foreign AND Domestic enemies. Which is something I'm confident all of YOU fully understand!

“The United States Marine Corps, with its fiercely proud tradition of excellence in combat, its hallowed rituals, and its unbending code of honor, is part of the fabric of American myth.” - Thomas E. Ricks
“Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. They’re aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They’ve got really short hair and they always go for the throat.” - RAdm. “Jay” R. Stark

As someone who is known to make "eyes bleed' (figuratively and literally), this "reply" to my original post is very much REALTED to the topic above. Instead of being my own words, this is a relatively recent, well documented, verifiable, example of a the "Right" crossing a line they should have NEVER been allowed to cross in the first place. If this doesn't make YOUR blood boil, you FAILED the Democracy test and may be a verified fascist:
"South Dakota Republicans on Thursday repealed a historic anti-corruption law approved by voters in a statewide referendum on Election Day.
The measure, which passed with more than 51% backing in November, would have created an independent ethics commission, limited lobbyist gifts to lawmakers, banned officials from joining lobbying firms for two years after leaving office and created so-called "Democracy vouchers" for registered voters to steer toward their preferred candidates.
But state GOP lawmakers said they didn't think voters knew what they were doing."
Gov. Dennis Daugaard, a Republican, signed the repeal bill on Thursday night. In a budget address delivered after the November referendum, he claimed the public had been "hoodwinked by scam artists who grossly misrepresented these proposed measures."
Republican legislators pushed the bill using an "emergency" clause that allows for the reversal to take effect immediately and now prevents voters from initiating a new referendum campaign in response."

Ah. You do realize enlisted Marines voted in support of trump at the highest rate of all military services, even at a higher rate than their officers. The Marines enlist the greatest amount of 17 and 18 year olds of all services and have the youngest average age of enlisted troops of all services. Interesting.

Uf you don't know anyone who didn't vote for Trump, you have a problem.
Regardless of how you think the election went down, roughly half of all Americans didn't vote for Trump. How small is your world and how insular is your worldview if you don't know anyone personally who holds different political views from yours?
You have stopped challenging yourself. You are okay in your comfort zone and okay with not being challenged in your beliefs. That's fine. But then don't talk about politics when you just admitted that it's impossible for you to have put much thought into political issues by being challenged on them because everyone you know already has beliefs similar to your own.
