You should try the Hakkyu no Kiseki mode. It's the high school mode where the aim is to reach and win in the Koshien tournament. It's long and by far the most interesting and unique part of the game. The players you cultivate there can even be exported into other single player modes including Star Player (Road to the Show) and Season (Franchise) so you can actually take players you fall in love with there and play out their entire careers (or even get stuck facing them as opposition).
I was hoping and praying that you would eventually get to play this game, and now that you did I am so happy! As a guy who played a fair bit of that game and its more cartoony sibling Power Pros, I think I might be able to help in terms of some Japanese terminology!
I visited Koushien like 1 day right after the final for the Highschool Spring Tournament. My group don't know baseball so I'm the only one going, from Osaka to there. Sadly when I was there the stadium closed so I was only able to go around outside, but it was magnificent. There is a Babe Ruth plaque outside of the stadium too, memorial from the Babe visit. I think it is one of the 2 only active ball park that Ruth and Gerigh ever played in.
ahh thats a bummer you just missed it! Its a bucketlist thing for me to be able to visit and watch so hopefully we both can get that experience one day. Thank you so much for watching and for the support!
Something that i saw that was really really cool was if you hit a ball right in front of the plate on the dirt, the dirt got kicked up and it stayed messed up throughout your BPs i think also the chalk of the box got messed up overtime edit: and the infield had tracks from the players and the dirt got messed up from the slides, idk if the new mlb the show game has that, i think the box got messed up and the dirt around the bags got messed up but it was pre determined. Correct me if im wrong on that i havent played any of the new the show games since 17 lol
I’ve been playing this game since day 1 release. I literally created a Japanese PSN account just so I was able to get it. Best thing I’ve done, this game is absolutely fantastic. MLB the show needs to step up, I’ve been playing it since 2006, but it literally feels almost identical now as it did then. They need to update their game engine, it is so outdated and they need to start from scratch.
biggest problem is that they are consistently making MLB The Show on previous gen. As soon as they decide to make it current gen only (xbox s/x and ps5) i think we can get a better product...... but i dont know if we will get that in 2025. Fingers crossed.
If Konami would add more English to this game, it would probably sell well here is the States. As for the pitch clock, I like it because it keeps the game moving quicker. During night games, I can get home a lot quicker.
completely agree. if they made a "US" version with the ability to play against others in the US way more people would be playing it more often, including me
There are pros and cons to both games. The modes in Prospi are way more in depth, replayable and fun. The graphics in the show and Prospi are comparable. There are some animations in both that are better than the other for example hitting in Prospi and fielding in the show. I do personally like the Konami hitting and pitching engine better than the show. The show feels a bit too random and lacking precision.
When I switch from Professional Spirits to mlb the show, mlb the show is soooo easy lol, the bat pci helps my eye coordination in spirits and when I go to mlb the show the pitches seem slower even if its at 100mph lol
not to sound like that but i bet this game is 10 times better. dont even have to watch this video. The devs in Japan def took their time to make and develop this game, like they do for every game, unlike US devs who are forced to rush their products to make a specific deadline while Japanese devs who are definitely more advanced into this specific field and give the time are clearly better lmao.
L1 R1 repeatedly too run bases faster, to highlight a base runner you use the left analog stick then press square to advance the runner, too advance all runner you press triangle, to hold/stop runners you have to hold triangle and circle with runners running from first to second, if the runner is running 2nd to third to have to press/hold triangle and square to hold/stop the runner mid way is tough because you also need to use the left analog stick to highlight the baserunner you want to hold between bases ‘cat&mouse game’
Come on man, MVP 2005 is still the best baseball game ever made...It puts Slugfest to shame...If you have never played it you are missing out. Its widely regarded as one of the best if not the best baseball game ever. I actually was a top 100 player back in the days of PS2 (ya I am old lol) I am terrible now but I still play....There is a community out there for MVP 05 that still does current roster updates. If you arent familiar there are plenty of vids and mini-docs on the game right here on TH-cam
To be fair - I don’t fake or script anything my in my videos so I recorded that all in real time. You’re not wrong, MVP is probably the greatest of all time but the slugfest call out was more of a joke. Either way thank you for watching!!! Ironically enough, my next video will be about buying an original Xbox and playing MVP 06 NCAA Baseball!
I hate how people react to some of this. You CAN turn perfect ump on. You CAN change your hitting view to match that. Like everything you're praising is all because of a lack of exploring MLB24 ...which I actually hate as a game but you gotta give it a fair shot.
@@addictedtoJB changing the hitting view and perfect umpiring does NOT change the actual gameplay/feel of the overall game my dude. I am a bigger mlb the show fan than 99% of people out there. Playing the game literally changed my life. The praise is because Konami actually went out and did something different and unique. MLB the show has been copy/paste for 4+ years and refuses to put the franchise on next gen, which is why this game actually feels good, fun, fresh. That doesn’t make it “better” than the show, but it okay to say it does things better than mlb the show.
@ColePlaysTV no but everything I said before combats your awe of the game. You can just change your camera to allow you to see the entire field. Changing to perfect ump allows you to get true dotted pitches in the game. Also, you should know that pitches are never perfect; they usually land within the shade. So unless you get a perfect perfect pitch, even then, your pitch may not actually be perfect.
The only thing the show has on this game is fielding. This game has more game modes that are very deep. I really hope they will add more English to the game in the future because Japanese baseball is the sh!t
@@ColePlaysTV there are two types of koshien games first is the spring koshien its an invitational tournament and second is the best the summer koshien im not gonna spoil anymore lol i hope you do a reaction video of it
Love to see the Video Cole! I've been waiting for your take on this as it seems so fun. Great way to start the day! Keep up the hustle bro loving the content! theenemy99
I like how the pitching velocity looks more realistic in the Konami game. I wish MLB the show would speed up the velocity to have more of a major league feel. These guys are throwing gas in real life and it doesn’t seem like it in MLB the Show.
All this tells me is you made it to the end of the video, so thank you for that! In all honesty this game does a lot of things right. It is stunning, feels great, but it’s pretty one dimensional in regard to what you can play, in addition to it being very hard to hit/game play when the ball is put in play. This is an incredible game to pick up and have fun, but is not something that I feel can’t be played as long as the average person would play mlb the show for many reasons. Which is why I say if there was a way to combine the games, that would be the sweet spot. Thanks for watching!
heres a link to a video that shows you how to purchase it without a ps5. Hopefully this helps! th-cam.com/video/tIUOsFVDwbM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BH89pnU4dqNEU9KE
To answer the Pitch Clock question, I think the way to make games faster wasn't by implementing a pitch clock, but by shortening the games. I'm still on the side of having 5 inning games, and 7 in the playoffs, and MAYBE 9 for the World Series finals. But 9 innings for every single game is way too many
I've been playing this too, it's SO much fun. I almost wish Konami would take over the MLB license because it would be fantastic.
would love for them to work together on a project....would be INSANE!

It’s a solid option to play and have fun with. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching!
Gotta go shovel the front walkway, but I'm excited to come back and watch this. Let's go!
hopefully you enjoyed it!
The best Japanese baseball video game will forever be the N64 game "King of Pro Baseball" aka "Chokukan Night Pro Yakyu King".
This is a good video man 😊🎉

I purchased it on ebay and it was sent from Japan!
They need to bring this here and just swap out teams and players lol. I love the way it looks and the animations.
If you tap l1 and r1 while running the bases you go faster
Try power pro baseball series. Best baseball game in my opinion
ive never heard of it! will definitely have to try it. Thank you!

i need this in MLB The Show ASAP
Anyone know how to base run individually.
When i play this game , i forget about The show forever
It would nice if they made it in an English version! I'll cop it quick

Yes, yes it is. MLB the show feels like a cartoon after playing this
There’s a bat sensitivity level option in settings. Levels 1-2 is the sweet spot not to hard not to easy
They just need the MLB, licensing stadium creator and a way we go
Has anyone seen how the gameplay goes lightning fast for no reason?
game looks good and yes combine the 2 and that would be a great baseball game ever made because overall i love the show and this game looks great also
one of the coolest things in this game is when you are pitching and you press down on the dpad
And the fact it actually is a strike 😂😅
