At the end of the video I'm still confused as to what Jellyseerr actually does. I have just set up a Jellyfin server on my NAS, having ripped most of my movies, music CDs and now starting on my shows. So I was fascinated to see your video showing Jellyfin, for which thank you as it gave me a few very useful tips. I followed that one straight away with this one, and got nowhere as I don't know, never heard of, Overseer. Unfortunately at the end of this video I still didn't know why I should install and run Jellyseerr. Sorry!
Jellyseerr is a request management and media discovery tool. It's very convenient to use instead of manually searching all your torrent trackers and downloading manually, Instead you got to Jellyseerr, search for the movie or series you want, make a request by simply clicking the "request" button on the movie. Then Radarr takes the request and forwards it to qbittorrent, Radarr monitors the movie which means you can set up rules to download a higher quality if it is released in the future. Radarr also renames the file giving it a clean nice name so the right movie or series will be found very easily and indexed in Jellyfin. earlier I've had to manually search Jellyfin for the right movie or series and it's quite a pain. You can make requests for new movies or an ongoing series and it will get downloaded as soon as the movie or a new episode is released. Also a big benefit is that even my technologically illiterate parents can now download the movies and series they want. Tbf it would be cool if Jellyseerr and Jellyfin was bundled together as one software.
I am wondering the same. I think Jellyseer is for ppl who have Jellyfin and want to allow family to control Sonarr and Radarr so they can automatically fetch the shows they want added to your jellyfin. Jellyseer, ombi I think are the 2 competitiors that support jellyfin. What did you end up with?
Jellyseerr seems great, but what I'd really need in it is filtering. I loved that with Couchpotato back when it worked fine. I just put an imdb rating of 7,3 as a minimum and then it downloaded one movie a week. All good. There's so much trash out there that I have no interest in walking through.
hi is there anyway we can have jellyseerr work inside jellyfin this would be great if a user has access to media only through tv which most end users will so they can easily request for content which they would like to watch

You have single handedly helped me keep on top of my unraid server. I second all of those statements. I have ombi working, don't really see a reason to switch other than curiosity. Jellyfin looks nice, but doesn't have a samsung tv app yet :(
@@mrfailure93 you can run both Jellyfin and Plex on your server and point them both to the same data. That's what I do because I use local accounts for my kids on plex and they stop working once the internet goes out. Jellyfin is my backup. Ombi requests look at Plex but since Jellyfin sources the same data, it effectively works for both. I just have the *arr apps telling both Plex and jellyfin to update when a new media item is upgraded or available.
@@Earendur08 I didn't think about that, but that doesn't help with not having a Samsung TV app. When plex goes offline, how do you watch your jellyfin?
@@mrfailure93 I'm using a roku streaming stick with the plex and jellyfin apps. They work without internet. The only reason my plex stops working is because I'm using home accounts. If I wasn't using home accounts, the auth would be local and work when the internet goes out.

Great Video! I was wondering if it was possible to choose the language for the Media download? Jellyseer/Sonarr/Radarr all download my linux ISOs in english but I would like to watch in different languages as well.
I believe there is a lot of background work going on with the Petio app to rebuild it from the ground up. There’s a lot in the pipeline from what we have heard but you have to be patient with these open source projects, they are done on a voluntary basis in their own time.
@@IBRACORP Yeah, judging from what they've said on their discord they're going to be basically rebuilding the entire app; adding multi plex server support, lidarr support, etc. Then continuing down development. Looking forward to both of these teams putting out high quality applications for everyone.

How is there no Jellyfin support in jellyseer? Thats just weird. Only Plex and Emby. It def does not support opensource. Neither Plex nor Emby is opensource.
@@IBRACORP Absolutely positive. Within unRaid apps its the Jellyseerr from IBRACORP's Repository last update May 28 2024 - it no longer the option to login with jellyfin credentials only Plex and Emby. Additionally it has no Jellyfin menu option at the top for Jellyfin like in your video.
In the container settings where it says "Emby Support" remove the variable "emby." I replaced it with "Jellyfin" but I doubt it matters. Relaunch the container and where it said emby before. Now it should say "Use your Jellyfin Account." I have no idea why they enabled emby by default, especially since it conflicts with Jellyfin, which shares part of the project's namesake.
Exactly what got me confused as well. It seems it‘s made for exactly that combination, but i don‘t understand the benefit i‘m afraid… except that there maybe just is one place to search both movies and tv shows?
Instead of searching for media through sonarr or radarr which can be complicated for end users (read: family) you can just point them to this and they can add their own media

So it's just an alternative to browsing torrent sites and download movies from this app instead of torrent site + torrent program? Never used sonarr or radarr (never seemed benefitial to get into if you want movies with uncommon subtitles), and this is a layer on top of that. (?)
Well to be honest, it offers a lot of the same as Ombi, but with the Overseerr aesthetic for those who prefer it. They also plan book support which I believe sets it apart to Ombi. Otherwise its personal preference

@@NicolaiVdS Why build out new features solely on Jellyseerr rather than contributing to Overseerr? I get the Jellyfin/Emby support but trying to understand why resources are being divided
@@RyanBall3 Overseerr devs have no plans to support Jellyfin, they won't allow that feature to be approved and it's easier to just fork it. They are 100% plex

I cant login to jellseerr wont take any of my user names or emails /Passwords. Ive tried to deleting the app and redownloading it still wont let me log into jellyseerr

Im a bit confused why we would need sonarr, radarr and potentially all the other rr`s if jellyseerr can pick up the data directly from the indexers?
