35s on a 5/2 is a great combo on a pro R. All the parts are strong enough and clutching is fine. I have 4500 miles on my pro R. Almost all of it fast pre running in Baja and with 35s.

It amazes me how many ppl don’t know this stuff already. Also surprised how many ppl say don’t alter it from factory lol. There are always trade offs to modifications, further offset wheels will do exactly what you’re saying but it’s usually not very noticeable if at all driving a sxs and the extra offset can help the larger tires clear as well as making them a little more stable when off camber. Also tons of krx guys running 4/3 offsets with no negative steering effects and no noticeable premature parts wear so far.

Love the videos talk about a wealth of knowledge one thing you didnt talk about was wheel width, I’m curious to what your thoughts are on that? Most wheels seem to be 7 inch wide but there are a few that are 6
Thank you so much, I have been looking at wheels and this is what I needed. I have a 2014 xp4 1000 and was looking at a 5+2 but think I might suck that wheel back in more. Appreciate it!

Love this very informational I got a couple of questions, so from this video I saw you run 5 1 wheel, is there a reason you’re running 6 in wide wheel as opposed to a 7 in 5 2 or 6 1 wheel? On that same topic would you recommend a 10 in wide tire or maybe narrower like 9 or 9.5 wide tire say 32x9x15 One last question do you recommend bead lock wheels for all outdoors or certain situations?
We actually are running a 4/1 wheel now. As long as the center of the tire is in the same spot relative to the king pin angle you can run any with you like. The only thing that will change is the shape of the tread. The rounder the tire tread the faster the UTV is. Less drag. More efficient. It tracks straighter in soft dirt and sand as well. For racing those are good things. Also som e sidewall budge protects the wheel too. I think a 10” treat is good. 9 is too narrow. 12 is too much unless you like to crawl rocks. Then width can help. The flatter the tread and more square the tread to sidewall transition is the more you will feel feedback in the steering wheel. Headlocks are great to drive on a flat in a race till the pit. But in okay driving maybe not needed. Bead grip is a great option too.
@ so is the reason for running a narrower wheel to make the tire rounder or lighter? Does the roundness of the tire dependent on the wheel or the actual tire?
@@toribioavalos8406 The narrow wheel will save some weight but the rounded tire tread is the main benefit, less drag, tracks straighter in soft terrain and more sidewall bulge helps protect the wheel. The roundness will depend on both tire and wheel. Wider wheels will square the tires sidewalls, narrower wheels will round the sidewalls. Tires with large sidewall lugs will grab rocks and square edges more, tires with less sidewall tread and a more rounded profile will slide through ruts with less resistance.

15s all the way. Gets clearance to the caliper so rocks don't get caught in there and blow up the wheel. Also, 14's are just too much sidewall movement when you get into a 30 or 32" tire.
Would it be detrimental to us 2"wheel spacers and 4/3 off set wheel on xp pro in the dunes. thank so very much I have learned a great deal thanks again.
That would be horrible! Wheel spacers are the same thing as bad offset. So not only do you have a 4/3 that is bad but you would also make it 2" worse with the wheel spacer. Please don't do that.
Hi guys. I am a very satisfied customer of your gold therapy service on my 2020 Honda Talon 1000x4 with Fox Live Valve. I like the extra hight I get from running 32 in tires. Unfortunately, after watching this video, I now know why the steering gets ripped out of my hands sometimes. Is there a 32 inch tire and rim combination for the Talon that will achieve a 5/1 scrub or a tire and rim offset that reduces the scrub with 32 in tires?
Hello Shock Therapy!!! Any answer to this??? I am now the 4th person looking for this answer… however, I have an R model Talon, not the X model, but want 32” tires. What offset? 5.2 or 6.1???
really digging all the info vids! How critical is the tire profile round vs flat for trail riding in the NE and Quebec? Looking at the Max Rampage, but the profile is pretty flat...thoughts? Driving an X3 Turbo R, stock, Eibach spring kit
Just changed wheels on polaris General, seriously difficult to find suppliers with 5/2 or 6/1 wheels. What's the deal with these guys, catering to the deep dish cool guys. Ended up with a plus 30mm offset, took some looking thou. Thanks for the info.
Will I be ok with system 3 B5 15 x 7. 5+2 and 33" kanati terra master for a turbo s. Also terra master is 3lbs less and the wheel is close to 15 lbs compared to stock 20 lbs
two reasons. One, you can't fit more than 5- 6 inches of wheel inside the hub and 1 to 2" is the max outside the hub if you want the scrub radius correct. Second, if you can pinch the tire in on the wheel, like our race car uses a Method 401R which is a 5" wide wheel, you will crown the tread a bit and gain some bulge in the sidewall. This drives best and the sidewall protects the wheel in off road racing from the rocks a lot better than a straight and vertical style sidewall.
Looks like I just wasted money getting method 406 beadlocks with 4+4. Looks badass but I guess that’s not a good offset. Maybe switch those over to paddles and get the new 411 for the dirt
Which wheel and tire would advice for tough off-roading in mud, for play car and jumping in hard surfaces in mountains? I found XTR 370 by system3offroad for tires and 405 UTV by Method and 401-R UTV for wheels. I have Can am Maverick X3 XRS 2021 model.
I have a 2021 rzr pro xp we are in Florida and ride dirt n mud trails. Wanting to move up to 32's they have 16 n 18 inch wheel option. What do you recommend for the wheel size n offset for my rzr pro xp. We want it to handle close to stock.
16" would be best to save the wheel from damage. 18" might look cool tho. LOL. With a 32 I would run a 6/1, 5/1, 4/1 or at the most a 5/2. 5/3, 4/3 or 4/4 are all really bad. Hope that helps.
I just picked up a 2017 rzr xp4 and changing to your spring kit for the bolt on parts it has, have the walker shocks. What would be the best size tire wheel offset combo for mostly dirt roads, some pavement and rocky trails. willing to put some money towards supporting up to 32 inch if needed.i was thinking the toyo sxs open country or tensor. thank you very much for your videos, Justin
For structural reasons a 30” is easiest on parts and power. But the 32 is best for ride quality. Personally I upgrade the parts and run a 32 with a 4/1, 5/1 or 5/2 offset.
@@ShockTherapyllcThis was the answer I was digging for, also. May I ask whether or not a clutch kit is necessary on a 168hp turbo engine, when moving up to a 32” tire? I’m not a rock climber or a dune rider, rather a rugged trail (leisure) rider. I’m thinking a 7” wheel, but I’m unsure of diameter and tire width. Do you have a suggestion?
Does the type of suspension, design, or suspension geometry make a difference when choosing wheel size/offset? I have a 2019 Wildcat XX with unequal length front control arms and, as you know, the rack is placed in front instead of behind. What offset would be best if running 32” tires and 15” wheels with stock rack? (Going to billet rack as soon as stock rack goes out) GREAT informative and entertaining videos and still love the “bloopers”!! Ha I’m an old mechanic/fabricator and I’m still learning things!
yes, geometry dictates all of this. Your XX geometry requires a 4/1 or 5/2 offset to work correctly with 32" tires. We have one as well and we run a 4/1 Method 401R. Glad we could help.
I have a 2020 Honda Talon 1000X-4 And I want to make it wider what if I do a 5x2 offset with a wheel spacer? I want to get as close to 72” wide as I can. Thank you for any feed back. Gilbert Arizona Here.
I love your video's. What is your thought on wheels for the General XP 4 with 32" tires? Stay with the 6+1? Or since the tire is 2" big than stock would a 5+2 be the better choice?
Awesome information. I will definitely be getting some work done with you guys. Couple quick questions, if I go with the same offset and tire size all the way around do you recommend a 1” spacer in the back of a RZR turbo? Also I can only find the Method 401R that say 5-0 offset. I think that is the 4-1 you were showing. Ok to stick with a 30” or do you recommend going to the 32s. I do have a clutch kit. Thanks
Trav City you don’t need a spacer in the back. There are no negative affects to running same wheel and tire all the way around. I would run a 32. The 30 is nice but the added ground clearance is a big help with the 32.
I do know this video is about a year old but my question is I have a 2022 Maverick Trail 1000R DPS. What if I go to 27 x 9 x 12 with a 5 x 2 offset. +2 inch spacers all the way around. Or go without the spacers.
I couldn’t watch live. I may have missed it, but what is the recommendation for offset for a RZR 900s? I think you said 12-16psi for play. Would that be ok for light rock crawling also. I don’t get to crazy. I generally ride wood trails with some rocky areas.
Question of wheel/tire weight and what it does with shock/spring tuning. I've got a '16 2 seat XP1K with your dual rate spring kit with factory shock valving. Everything worked well for my riding style. I recently switched from the factory wheels and tires and went with Method 409's with GBC Terramasters with a total weight of 51.6lbs. After doing so, it seems like the front suspension is bottoming more, if I adjust the clicker until it stops the ride is very harsh, now this is only when I'm pushing the car hard. I'm wondering if I add a little more front spring preload and reduce the clicker will this help ?
c warner so wheel and tire won’t affect compression. Only rebound. If it bottoms more them more than likely the inside of the shock has changes. Internal seal or valving failure. This is common with stock internals. Just do the RIS or shock mods and everything we ride amazing with that wheel and tire combo
Question about the +0mm and +10 mm offsets offered by some wheel and tire dealers, what do these equate to, 6+1, 5+1, 4+1, 5+2, etc,. Thanks in advance.
A 0 mm offset wheel is a centered wheel. The wheel center has equal widths on the outside of it as it does inside. 4/4, 5/5. Really bad. You need a positive offset wheel. This means more wheel is inside (towards the UTV) than outside (away from the UTV) of the wheel center. 4/1, 5/1, 6/1. The first number is inches inside the wheel, second number is inches outside the center. Hope that helps.
Hey guys thanks for the video, I have a 21 can am RR DS and I’m trying to run 32’s ITP terra hooks. Due to my 64” machine I’m struggling to fit past the rear trailing arms. Will 4/3 really be that bad on my max?
They are really bad in the front. The rear does not matter. Maybe run 5/2 and a 1" spacer in the rear. I hate spacers but the geometry does not matter in the back.
What do you think about the Method 401-r low offset? It’s got a 0mm offset but also a super skinny wheel (5”). So it ends up being a 2.5/2.5 offset. Will that be as bad, or better, or worse than a 4/3 offset?
Narrow wheel rounds the tread profile. Less drag. Faster. Round profile has better Sterring feel and less feedback. Budge sidewall protects the wheel from damage. In off road racing this is the winning combo
I’m just a trail guy with a 2019 yamaha wolverine X2. The springs are coil bound at the top, I already have the pre load to the max. Looking for a spring kit but don’t like the big spacers on the kit that’s currently available. Are there any options?
Why dont wheel manufactures make their wheels in the same offsets for the cars they support? for example I was told a factory turbo s wheel is 6+1 but the closest you can find is typically a 5+2. Is it just to reduce SKUs?
amazing question! We have posed this same one to them. Their answer is that people, customers, the market does not like the flat outer face look. Everyone likes the deep dish look. So they fight the fact that the market wants dish but facts support correct. Spread the word. Hopefully it changes.

yes, geometry dictates all of this. Your XX geometry requires a 4/1 or 5/2 offset to work correctly with 32" tires. We have one as well and we run a 4/1 Method 401R. Glad we could help.

Thank you!!
You guys ROCK!!! Thanks for the quick reply too! Please keep up the great vids!
I have a 2020 Honda Talon 1000X-4 And I want to make it wider what if I do a 5x2 offset with a wheel spacer? I want to get as close to 72” wide as I can. Thank you for any feed back.
Gilbert Arizona Here.
Love your content! So essentially 5+0 or 5+2 recommended offset for Can-am Maverick x3 xrs?
yes sir
@@ShockTherapyllc thanks for your response. 😁
On a 2019 X3 XRS what width wheel do you guys recommend for 32" tires (Tensor DS)?
teryx 800 stock front is 3.5+2.5 rear 5+3 should i do all 4 4+3 or 5+2
You always want to be close to the front wheels. So do 4-3 all the way around
I love your video's. What is your thought on wheels for the General XP 4 with 32" tires? Stay with the 6+1? Or since the tire is 2" big than stock would a 5+2 be the better choice?
5/2 is a good one for the general
14” rim or a 15” rim for a turbo XP?
15 all the way🤘🏻
Thank you
Awesome information.
What wheels are you running on your Honda talon 1000r ?
Charles Ouimette Method 401R.
I too have the R model Talon. 5.2 or 6.1 wheel with 32” tires????
I do know this video is about a year old but my question is I have a 2022 Maverick Trail 1000R DPS. What if I go to 27 x 9 x 12 with a 5 x 2 offset. +2 inch spacers all the way around. Or go without the spacers.
2” spacer is a no go. 5/2 is good to go
Why are steel wheels not more prominent for UTV's? Does aluminum fail or have issues that wouldn't be an issue with steel?
Weight.
I couldn’t watch live. I may have missed it, but what is the recommendation for offset for a RZR 900s? I think you said 12-16psi for play. Would that be ok for light rock crawling also. I don’t get to crazy. I generally ride wood trails with some rocky areas.
What would be the perfect offset for a 2013 can am commander 800 r? I would like to run 38/10/14 tires
I have a 2018 x3 max base model 120hp with stock 28" tires. can I run 32" tires with a 4/1 or 5/2 offset rim? and if so will I need to do clutching?
Recommended wheels and tires for XP pro? Like to do 32” tires... Thanks. Awesome vids!!!
Methods in a 4/1 or 5/2, never a 4/3. Tensor 32 or 33
Hey guys thanks for the video, I have a 21 can am RR DS and I’m trying to run 32’s ITP terra hooks.
Center offset is really bad. 4/3 is similar but not as bad. 401R is bad ass.
What are the advantages of narrow wheel? I have krx with 8” stock wheels. Notice you run much narrower wheels. Please explain
Narrow wheel rounds the tread profile. Less drag. Faster. Round profile has better Sterring feel and less feedback. Budge sidewall protects the wheel from damage. In off road racing this is the winning combo
Would tensor ds32 still be ok on 8” wheel then for recreational purposes? Thanks for all free info you have won my future business
@@plandvinc1814 it will work great. 👍
Is there any disadvantage to running wheel spacers on the rear of my xp turbo? I just want to match the front width?
Other than the extra load put on the radius rod joints, the rear won't have a negative affect.
I’m just a trail guy with a 2019 yamaha wolverine X2. The springs are coil bound at the top, I already have the pre load to the max. Looking for a spring kit but don’t like the big spacers on the kit that’s currently available. Are there any options?
David Sherk sorry but we don’t have a kit for that Utv yet. Working on it
Why dont wheel manufactures make their wheels in the same offsets for the cars they support? for example I was told a factory turbo s wheel is 6+1 but the closest you can find is typically a 5+2.
I have a 15 1000 xp 4 seater. I run 32's, what wheel again, 5/2? I have those msa wheels on that new xp pro.
Owen Boerboom 5/2 for sure. You don’t want those 4/3 MSAs
