I've noticed something after updates. It takes like a week for my phone to get back to it's normal battery usage levels. I still got 8+ hours of SOT, mainly on wifi on Android 15 on my P9P.
Because new android version means the phone will be optimizing all apps one by one and learning your usage pattern again just like it does when you do first setup on the phone.
Weird as I'm getting much better battery life on A15 at the moment with my usual day to day usage on mine. Nice to watch but I don't think these are always the best way to judge unless you try yourself but thanks for the video bud 👍
Same here, I have the impression my battery life is slightly better since A15, even though it already was great on A14. Nevertheless, I'm happy with it!
It was always like this including previous generations. I beleive you will see similar results between ios as well. The test is quite good, very realistic and have a good mixed usage only excluding standby and cellular talking. Qudos and thanks for the video.
Androids 15 only have improvement on idle battery consumption because they bring new Doze Mode. But for daily usage there's none. That's why some people feeling android 15 is an upgrade and some don't..
Even though Android 15 is at an early stage, the gap is too wide to get covered up. I actually noticed that today Monday. As a working day my phone can last an entire day without putting it on charge going to bed but after this update I had to put it on charge at 7 PM at 27%
Getting better battery life and lasts easily more than a day with Pixel 7. Almost felt like Sultan's kernel version like thermals. I think you can try adb pm background optimization
It is obvious that Android 15 consumes high battery. I did not expect such a clear difference. I must admit that I was surprised, on the contrary, I thought it was improved with Android 15. I hope it will be fixed with new updates for both Android and iOS..
After september update my pixel 8 pro started to last the whole day with 20-30% battery left at like 12 pm. Now with Android 15 i see the same results and its slightly better. Finally i have good battery on the p8p. Before it was so bad that i had to charge a little during the day!

Hello, thanks for the wonderful comparison video + for all the videos you put out on the channel. I love the in-depth reviews. I wanted to ask I have an iPhone 15 as work phone. Can you please suggest an Android phone which is as good as in terms of experience like iPhone 15. I would love to comeback to Android after so many years.
I was getting around 6hrs sot on my 6 pro when it was on android 14. And after android 15 update i am getting around 7hrs sot. Given that it is a more than 2 years old phone
Yes, from my testing on Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, I have seen improved battery life of between 1-2 hours SOT, depending on what you do. I think at the end of the day, the Pixel 9 series will see fewer, if any, improvements.
Weird, I swear my P8 Pro is getting much better battery life on A15, now it menages to last whole day and night without a charge when previously it was normal for me to wake up with a dead phone in the morning
I noticed worse battery on Android 15 on my pixel 9 pro fold. And more heat in cod mobile game, I reflashed it to android 14 and the device is running longer and cooler.
With my Pixel 7 on android 15 I also noticed that the battery on a day to day basis gave me less performance than with android 14, I hope they fix that
Weirdly enough I have noticed that after leaving my Pixel 9 pro XL charging overnight on pixel stand 2 when I switched it on in the morning it’s only 99% charged ?
Camera app has a long time known issue with Location consuming battery. You should deny Location Permission for most apps in any case but especially for the Camera app where it absolutely has no good purpose
After the update there is something weird going on with the fingerprint sensor. At times it doesn’t read the finger but tries to use face unlock as I can see the animation on the front camera. In low light face unlock obviously doesn’t work but the phone keeps trying to use it. I have to turn the screen off and on again or use my password. This has happened about 10-15 times so far. Almost happens exclusively in low light but once happened at day. Also the prompt to use your password after a prolonged time of not using doesn’t come up. I only realised this after the fingerprint didn’t work but I was taken straight to the password option. Only after inputting my password did the fingerprint start working normally. Any one else having this issues?
As a proud Pixel 6 user i didn't notice anything after A15 but after A14 my phone had better battery life 5-10% 😂 and my battery is still good to this day since day 1
My Pixel 8's battery life has been cut almost by half. I'm struggling to stay over 50% throughout the day without charging it at night. Before the update, I managed to get 2 days of battery life. I hope Google will address the high usage issue.
Try leaving phone on charger over one whole night. That should trigger system optimization job. This trick helped me many times when I had bad battery life after big update.
After updating my 9 pro xl to A15 I've noticed that my Bluetooth range for my buds plummeted big time and that Google news or whatever it's called( when you swipe right on the left side of your screen) is extremely laggy, it takes a good 2-3 seconds to load and during that time it just a black screen. These are the 2 drawbacks I have noticed on my 9 pro xl after getting A15 OTA🤷♂️
Overall for stability and performance im actually quite happy with A15 on my own P9P. There is no night and day differences and that was maybe to be expected. But I will admit the lack of actual features new in comparison to A14 is a bit of a let down, but hopefully the features that are being trialled on the A15 beta and first QPR will come in December. But I definitely think there is further optimisations needed by apps to run and get best from A15. But also in terms of the A15 been released now on Pixel it is the first release of this SW to the genral public wothout signing up for thr beta. But i do think it will take Google at least 2 security updates to get things properly optimised so i would say by December or January to get the most out A15. (Its been a similar trend with updates for the last few yearly update / new Android releases to be honest.) But great in depth video as always 👍
I understand that battery life typically degrades with iOS updates upon release, as Apple prioritizes introducing new features and bug fixes. However, subsequent updates usually lead to improvements in battery life. Therefore, Android 15 will also result in enhanced battery performance with time. Nevertheless, I wonder if the Pixel 9 series will experience significant improvements. I suspect that any battery efficiency gains from Android 15 were already integrated into the firmware of these devices at the time of their release. My Pixel 8 Pro is in the quarterly feature update beta, with average battery life. It suffices for my moderate usage, with 1-2 hours of standby time and 40% drain. However, using it continuously, such as for navigation, I can achieve over 9 hours of screen time. These figures are better than when it was running on Android 14. Additionally, I no longer experience overheating-it warms up at most. My primary concern with my Pixel 8 Pro is its poor RAM management. I suspect that this is an optimization measure to conserve battery life. However, leaving my phone on standby for a few hours causes many apps to close, and overnight, it only retains 4-6 apps in memory, even after testing by loading 20 apps before going to sleep. This is unacceptable, especially considering it has 12GB of RAM. In contrast, my iPhone retains all 20 apps in memory, and my S24U can hold between 16-18 apps. Maybe next year, when they move from Samsung to TSMC Fabs, they can reverse this optimisation. For most people, battery life will get them through the day. For power users, maybe not as much.
Pixel 8 Pro battery seems the same for me but I still have the issue with charging. I even bought the 45W charger from Google to solve the problem but both on Android 14 and now on 15 it still doesn't work properly ("connected not charging" every few seconds) - anyone else with this issue?
If your pixel is ever draining battery and running warm, check battery settings and system apps, see if mobile network or Wi-Fi is running high, if so restart your phone and report this issue to Google.
What about making benchmark/performance test as Android 15 vs 14. Because i realized after updating mine to Android 15, there is performance improvement.

I'm getting better battery since Android 15 I'd say about 10% more at the end of the day, I'd come back from work with 50% remaining battery when I was using Android 14 Since Android 15 I come back home to 60-62% remaining battery, there's better temperature management too, using Android 14 phone would be slightly warm, not hot but just a little warm when using high brightness and leaving multiple apps open, now my Pixel 9 Pro XL is cold to the touch almost all the time. 😅
I'm using a pixel 7 , and i updated it into android 15. Before android 15 it was good. But after updating to android 15, my phone is getting hot and the battery is draining so fast.
