Adding Extra SECURITY To Our Van's Rear Doors is something that we have wanted to do for a while, the rear doors on vans are not the safest and making it harder for people to gain entry into them , and one job everyone should do there are so many different ways you can add security but we chose a relatively cheap and easy solution. by no means will this stop people but it may just make it harder for them or even put some of them off , you see a lot of people on youtube giving this kind of locks hell and saying there easy to pick, but remember you have to have a lock picking kit and be able to pick locks and not many chances can do this or carry lock picking kits with them. so please keep that in mind

Hi was thinking of fitting this lock but reviews saying it rusted quickly put me off have you had any trouble?

My wife always says the harder it is to get into the back door the better, she said a lot of damaged can be caused if forced, not sure how she knows like she hasn't even got a van? Great video you crack me up

My tools have been stolen twice by thiefs breaking the windows even with puck locks on the outboard doors. I have windows on the back, the side of my van that if they break the thiefs can easily climb in. It's my work van and the company won't provide the money to put expensive mesh metal covers on the van windows. So I need to improvise. Anyone have any ideas? I don't have much money. But I am allowed to protect my personal tools

Don’t forget to paint the holes you drilled! I might just consider a small amount of sikaflex on the back of those plates to help prevent any corrosion too. 😎👍

Top tip, don't use Masterlock. You can pick them with a sneeze. Go Abus or similar high quality.

I have a similar one fitted to the back door on my van, the difference is my key goes in from the bottom and not the side. The oxygen thief's have been round my van as well and pinched the wind deflectors that I had fitted to the front doors. They were the £15 ebay specials and you can hear the idiot who pinched them snap one as he's prying it off. They've recently had a go at the sliding side door as well and only managed to jam the deadlock on so I couldn't get the door open. After having to strip everything off the inside of the door while it was closed I managed to get the lock to release manually. Looking for something affordable for the side door now.
I seriously hate people that break in to vans . People spend so much money and time and then some one thinks it’s ok to break in . It really annoys me but sadly it’s happening more and more .

Puck locks draw a lot of attention from thieves out prospecting. The one you have looks like it could be picked quite easily by The Lockpicking Lawyer.
Dude you missed the weakest point on a crafter sprinter, which is the front quadrant windows in the cab, a simple Stanley knife will cut the rubber allowing you to pop the window out and disable the alarm on the centre console in seconds, If you take out the bulk head the van is very vulnerable indeed and renders such big beefy locks completely useless.
Hammer to the window works as well mate . Plus we have a ghost immobiliser and gps tracking . Plus I really do feel sorry for any one breaking in if we are in the van

Internal deadbolts seem a little cleaner, less tamperproof and more stealth imho. Theres also bearlock, and killswitch options for security worth doing
I had an idea about the whole security thing a while back and not seen anyone do it yet (maybe a reason for it!lol)
On the sliding and rear door I was thinking of fitting/welding a bracket on the inside so I could put a padlock on...basically 2 bits of L bracket with a hole.
Sure it means you can’t open them from the outside but in my mind the scumbags will try to force entry, yes they will pop the locks or try to pry the “normal” areas open but even if they get past the oem locks they won’t be able to open more than an inch...and in my mind think stuff this I’ll try another van.
Yes, it means the cab is still left vulnerable and that the only way in and out once locked but for piece of mind especially at night I think I’m on to a good idea.
The cab will have deadlocks anyway which is another deterrent.
Some will say if there’s a fire there’s no quick exit and that’s true so leaving the key in is an option??
I know if someone wants something they’ll get it, the main worry for me is someone breaking in while I’m in the van/asleep.

The side has dead locks on them but the rear was just the factory lock . Which are not very good
I have a Crafter too my locks are all armoured and a deadlock on the side door, the only thing is when my battery went flat i had no way of getting in the van, luckily enough i got in via my leisure batteries a complicated affair, love the channel by the way...

Yer there is that . We did have long talks about rear windows and both decided it was a no . They just let so much cold in we think so we did the side windows instead
@@UrbanVanlife we had the same discussion but seeing as the view is better to have we decided to go for it at the end and in winter just put covering over it that has insulation and that should help. I am still going to put the 4 way stretchy fabric on all exposed metal surfaces on the door and windows so that way its not too cold to touch lol

can be picked in 5 seconds
That’s if your carrying a lock lock set and know how to pick locks . But carrying a lock pick set without reason is a criminal offence in the uk . 90% of chancers who break in to vans don’t know how to tie there own shoe laces let alone pick locks
@@UrbanVanlife 5 minutes before you video , in another video someone bought 10 of the locks and picked them all in less than 1 minute, its a fault with the locks.
