Pilots mandatorily retire at 65. Air traffic controllers retire at 56. Do they make excuses about their mental acuity and sharpness to stay working? No, they retire. I’m sick of seeing people make excuses for a man who is in charge of the highest office in our country when there are obvious signs of degradation…

The statistical correlation between age and job performance is smaller than the correlation between job performance and psychometric intelligence tests. So if you think that mandatory retirement is a good idea, then you should also think that minimum I.Q. score requirements to work are a good idea.

@@Sewblon This is a logical fallacy known as "affirming the consequent"
      The original statement:
“The statistical correlation between age and job performance is smaller than the correlation between job performance and psychometric intelligence tests.”
This part is a factual observation, but it doesn’t necessarily lead to the conclusion that follows.
      The conclusion:
“So if you think that mandatory retirement is a good idea, then you should also think that minimum I.Q. score requirements to work are a good idea.”
This conclusion is problematic because it assumes that if two things correlate differently with a third factor, they must be treated similarly in terms of policy decisions.
However, this overlooks other relevant factors, such as individual differences, fairness, and legal considerations.

In Soviet Union there was a political system where usually policital leader rulled until the moment of their own death. One of them was Leonid Brezhnev and Biden met him in late 1970s. The entire nation laught over Brezhnev's inability to speak clearly, but he had no other choice but to stay in power. That period of time in Russian was called "застой", in English it means "standstill, deadlock". After his death in 1982 and several short-term heirs in 1985 Gorbachev came into power. The Soviet economy was in stagnation and all his initiatives to develop it faster resulted in total collapse in December 1991.
History teachs us not to repeat others mistakes. Soviet political system was unable to creat a new generation leader in time, but when he appeared it was to late. With all respect to Mr. Biden he is not a proper leader for USA.

However because of first past the post, it would be a bad idea to have similar competitors dividing the votes so you would have to use a better system first that should be your priority, you have many months before the election so there is still time but that's another thing that needs to be fixed is just how much time and money candidates put into their campaigning.
Seriously people seem to think this is all set in stone years before anything is actually decided. Aren't you supposed to be living in a democracy? Why haven't you been demanding the system to be reformed in a way that better respects that fact?

Being a president or a prime minister is a stressful job and actually speeds up the aging process(don’t believe me, compare the photos of world leaders at the start and at the end of their term) and Biden was already an old guy in the start of his term and you can see how fast he has aged even more in the past 4 years. First, although this point doesn’t necessarily apply to Joe Biden, many older people can’t afford to retire at 65. The economy has become so difficult that many continue needing an income to support themselves and their families far past retirement age.
In addition, there are many people that can function well in a job beyond the age of 65. It really depends on the job and the person. Just because one person you work with that is older struggles doesn’t mean that is true across the board.
