- I’d finally got round to walking the remainder of the Southern Upland Way after completing half of the trail in 1992.

Very, very impressed, one very fit Lady & dog, well done. I'm looking forward to Abbey St Bathans, as I go there to buy timber at the sawmill & I hope you find the small there cafe too. Thanks for carrying all the camera gear !

Linda, thank you so much for your vlogs of the SUW. My son and I found them very useful and informative as we followed the trail from Beattock to Traquair. This one is very familiar as we walked much of it on the Herring Road from Dunbar to Lauder last year. Thanks for the inspiration to keep walking!

I dislike cows too. Been chased twice going through a field with cows in it with my dog, initially the cows were quite a distance away at the other end of the field. Once on the SUW at Lauder and the other time on the Pennine Way in the Cheviots. I would never take that chance again, always climb into another field to avoid them. That is usually easier said than done.
I suspected they would chase me and the dog. Just didn’t want to take any chances. Thanks for watching. 👍
While walking on an old track south of Hawick, there were very excitable cows on the other side of the fence runing back and forth. Felt smuggly safe until they took a runner to jump a fence. Luckily it was into the next field and not on the path. Very scarey!!

A great series of videos - thank you. And no, it's not just you having issues with cows. My Skye - a Golden Retriever - is scared of cows. A few times we've had to take a detour from a path "blocked" by one or more cows. One time going to Fingal's Pinnacles on Skye and another going up and down Pap of Glencoe. But the worst experience was on North Uist at Balranald where the path goes around the edge of a fenced field with cows. We took the wrong path and had to walk right through the herd of cows with calves. Halfway through they started surrounding us and followed us for quite some time. Afterwards we were told to always walk along the coastline to have an escape route to the beach. Even though the farmer is nice and tells you they won't harm you, you can never be sure how they react if they sense that you or your dog is afraid. Anyway looking forward to the next stage of the journey. ATB Karl

Don't blame your trepidation of cows. We have had 3 scary moments and it's put us right off.
