Band Maid is a juggernaut in the world of Rock n' Roll. I grew up in the 60's and 70's with the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who and the Rolling Stones. These girls match these iconic bands with their writing, showmanship and overall talent. They are a perfect example of everything being done right. God bless these ladies for saving Rock n' Roll as we know it.

All excelent bands but in my heart I prefer Band-Maid, because I do not think they are gereric J-Rock Band. There are genuine sofistication in songwriting, evolution of the band and band members. And for me every record is better thand previous one since Brand New Maid days.

I just went back and listened to the part during the bass solo. It's surprisingly complex and I think it really adds a meatiness to the song that I couldn't pinpoint before.
I was thinking she had Chris Squire vibe going, but I'm actually leaning towards Roger Glover. Both are pickers. Geddy is great as well, but he mainly plucks. Rogers' solos sound like this one. And Deep Purple have had a big influence in Japan.

Just ran into a older gentleman tonight at a trivia event in my town wearing a BAND-MAID shirt. I didn't think anyone in my town knew who they were, but this guy certainly knew! Two dudes from different generations made friends over a band from another country that sings in a language we can't understand. Cheers, BAND-MAID for bridging that gap from 7000 miles away! :)
This band has been excellent forever, and yet they manage to get better and better with each tour. These Yokohama Arena performances show the Maids at the top of their game. I'll hasten to add, the top of their game so far...

BAND−MAIDを好きになってから、HR/HMの楽曲をたくさん聞くようになりHR/HMの歴史的なことも学びましたが、日本人の評論家や一部のファンのコメントの中には原理主義的で遠い昔に価値づけられたものにしか価値を見出せない、HR/HMの雑誌に書いてあること以外は全く受け付けない、狭いコミュニティがあることに大変嫌悪感を感じました。

Misa is like Geddy Lee. She’s not just there to be the low end, she adds to the song and it wouldn’t be the same without her.

Don't you ～では２階の大スクリーン前で、この曲ではセンターステージでと歌波と MISA の圧巻の協奏、これこそ LIVE ならではの醍醐味！マジでカッコいい！
これをよく「バトル」と言うけど (本人達もチャットで「闘い」と投稿したけど笑) 笑顔で向かい合って演奏する二人の姿はとても戦っているようには見えない
息の合った見事なまでのアンサンブルは10年共に切磋琢磨してきた重みのようなものを感じさせる
そして、こうして５人で“音”を奏でるのが今でも本当に“楽”しんだろうなということがヒシヒシと伝わってくる
この「闘い」の冒頭、歌波が MISA のソロをガン見してるのは笑えたが、その後、単音以外をミュートして右手は大きく高速で切り刻む迫力のソロと再びの MISA のソロの時には横乗りダンスしてる歌波は布袋さんを彷彿とさせる
この二人のパフォーマンスが観客を魅了するのは、間違いなく茜の16符連打のテクニカルで迫力のあるドラムと小鳩の重厚なバッキングがあるからこそ
エンディングで走って戻ってくる歌波を飛び跳ねながら出迎える小鳩、そして「やったー」と二人で手を挙げる姿が何ともカワいくてホッコリとさせられる

ソロといえば通常インプロヴィゼーションがもてはやされていたし、バトルとかデュエルといえば対決ということになるが、バックのドラムも含めて、このバンドのソロは、演者が好き勝手をやっているわけではなく、全て計算されたアンサンブルの中でのソロであるというのが特徴で、正に10年間一緒にやってきて、お互いに信頼し合っているバンドのソロであり、バトルと感じる。まあ、1970年代とは違って、延々とインプロヴィゼーションを続ける演奏が好まれるとは思わないけど。
全く同感です。メリハリのあるAKANEのドラムや途中から入ってくるMIKUのギターも全てアンサンブルで、
これ見よがしにテクニカルに走るだけのソロパートとは違い、曲全体の構成を考えた素晴らしいパートと
なっています。
調和と完成度を重んじるみんちょの美意識、仲間意識からすると、
好き勝手なインプロビゼーションはBAND-MAIDには似合わない、ということだと思います。
Lollapaloozaよりもクリアで、
確固とした完成度が感じられる演奏ですね。
ギターバトルはもちろん、小鳩氏のバッキングも素晴らしいし、そして...つまり全員素晴らしい！(^^;
長時間のギターバトルは、
70年代のハードロック・セッションを彷彿とさせますが、
アドリブやインプロビゼーションではなくて、
「精密に組み立てられた混沌」である点が大きな違いですね。
BANDMAIDは、聞かせて、見せて、楽しませるバンド
と改めて実感しました。
コンパクトに、考え抜かれた、決して冗長になることのないソロとバトル。
曲も短いけれど、それでいて充実した密度の濃い構成と演奏。まさにみんちょ天才。

そこには手癖が出るのでいつも 似たり寄ったりのインプロ(即興)でその時点で飽きてしまう！せっかく素晴らしい前半があるのに後半が始まるまで一体この曲は何の曲だっけと考えてしまうことが、ジャズの衰退の 1 つの原因だと私は考えています。その点！遠乃歌波さんはよく考えられて作られていると思います。即興に見えて数多くのバリエーションを取り揃えています。2018年 Zepp Tokyoのライブ映像を見るとよくわかると思います。

Just ran into a older gentleman tonight at a trivia event in my town wearing a BAND-MAID shirt. I didn't think anyone in my town knew who they were, but this guy certainly knew! Two dudes from different generations made friends over a band from another country that sings in a language we can't understand. Cheers, BAND-MAID for bridging that gap from 7000 miles away! :)

毎回、前回を上回るんだよなあ。“HATE?”をライブで見たのは横アリで2回目だけど圧巻だった年始のTGTよりも更に良くてたぶん次はもっと良くなってるんだろう。毎回100点を超えてきて、つまりまだ進化してるって事で、まだまだ底が知れないこのバンドをリアルタイムで見れる幸せ😇

This band has been excellent forever, and yet they manage to get better and better with each tour. These Yokohama Arena performances show the Maids at the top of their game. I'll hasten to add, the top of their game so far...

'Don't You Tell ME' was the aperitif 🍸, 'Hate?' is the appetizer 🍜 and the entire concert is the main course! 🍽 And ladies, if you don't mind me saying, you are damn good chefs and know how to serve something outstanding! I love Miku's guitar support during the duel! She did some great guitar stings in the "Don't You Tell Me" duel too! And of course, Misa Misa Misa! Mincho Mincho Mincho! There was some true Mincho Mode happening in this solo. This is another banger! And I'm glad to have watched it live streaming in November and now live with the band in the chat on this premier!
