    Brilliant idea! Buying plant pots are costly and some are unattractive. I'll just go to the thrift store go shopping for cups, bowls, and teapots.

      A lot of times also, you can find unique and one-of-a-kind pieces plus we're saving a lot of things that will just go into landfill.

    Next time try stack several bowls up and drilling them all at once. I do this for my house plants with the plastic stuff.

    Thank you Liz for showing how to drill holes. I have a small collection from going to the segunda and buying bowls, big mugs, and other little odd things. Right now I have some in garden plastic pots & terracotta the 4 inch are not that expensive around $24 pesos so like a $1.22. Now I just need to buy the drill bits. Blessings to you & Pedro from Mexico.

      The hollow core drill bits pay for itself in the long run if you were to use it a lot. Used with water, mine have lasted a few years and still going.

    I tuned in late after a busy day and throughly enjoyed this video. I liked the idea of holding the roots with the forceps and burying them in the soil. You are so methodical about selecting pots and the plants to put in to them. I loved the idea of melamine bowls and other pots that we can use. The tuxpan crest in fhat gravy boat takes the cake. Thank you very much for another informative vdo. I have learnt so much form you.

    Love all the repurposed vessels you drill holes into for pretty pots. I'm yet to attempt drilling the few I've collected, I've only done some terracotta pots and my cement bird bath. I like how you have a shelf with all the pots ready to drill into. The second hand shops are a treasure trove for containers, cups etc. I must go and check out the second hand shops, I've nit been for a while.

    I am confused, which doesn’t take much at my age I’m afraid, I thought using non porous ‘pots’ was not recommended for succulents. So I really can use my collection of glazed cups and bowls etc, without issues? This has been a very helpful vid Liz and I have added Tuxpan Crested to my bucket list! 😃

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  ปีที่แล้ว

      The best pot I find for succulents are the porous ones(terracotta). The glazed pots are very pretty but can be challenging to grow succulents in because it can't breath; especially if the temperature is hot and cold.
      This is the reason for the bigger holes in ceramic pots.

    Please wear personal protective gear (glasses or goggles and MOST IMPORTANTLY a respirator or at least an N95 mask when working with ceramics. Ceramics and their glazes are made of silica, which is caustic/toxic to your lungs - basically tiny shards of glass become airborne when you drill into them. Please, safety 1st!!
