my friend saw my nephthys core come in the mail when this set came out and ive never laughed at something so hard in my life. he saw them and went "you dont really care about the phoenix, you're only building nephthys cuz it's full of baddies"
Also, "Mariamne, the True Dracophoenix" and "True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher" can also work as tech choices, since they DESTROY 2 other monsters in order to summon them - including either a WIND or FIRE attribute monster respectively. I wish they added one archetype Starlight Road and/or a retrain of Phoenix Wing Wind Blast.
Shinobirds are another cool thing you can mix with Nephthys. They're level 8 rituals, so you can search them with the Link-2, as well as recover their ritual spell from the graveyard.
Well, Egypt had a habit of giving their gods a lot of different roles, but none of Nephthys's duties are heavily flame associated, except maybe as goddess of the morning (but not the morning SUN, thats the job of a beetle named Kephri)
While I agree with you, you have to remember this is the Phoenix OF Nephthys--as mentioned in the videi. Hence, it kinda focuses solely on the phoenix qualities (the revival and the fire themes). I think the only thing it really tool from Nephy was the Egyptian aesthetic
One of my favorite techs to throw into Nephthys decks would be Yubel and their evolutions. Yubel does not specify where it needs to be destroyed from to transition into Yubel - Terror Incarnate. When destroyed, the Terror Incarnate can be used as a means of wiping the board during the end phase (not the most desirable time to do it) or as a link material. When Terror Incarnate leaves the field (yes it is sadly a "When" effect), you get to summon Yubel - Ultimate Nightmare. Which you could use as normal or also use it as link material. In running the Yubels, you do have to run a few garnets, which is not the most ideal, but if you are like me and are desperately trying to find a way to make viable Yubel decks then you will take it!
Nephthys-Yubel, together with Fire King Yaksha and Island, were actually quite a competetive deck in Duel Links for a long time. The core of the deck were Fire Kings and Yubel, slapping tier 0 Fur Hire‘s asses since Yubel‘s release and the Nephthys cards made it even better.
Much like Nephthys and the other god cards. They aren't the gods themselves just a dragon or creature of said God. Don't know why Slifer and Obelisk don't follow in Ra and Nephthys's footsteps in the TCG but that's how it be.
To explain about Last Hope..thank Master Duel's solo mode for this but the story goes that they needed the Sacred Phoenix to repel the invader and they managed to summon Cerulean Sacred but it's not enough and during their darkest hour, Disciple prayed...and Nephthys answered, transforming the Cerulean Sacred Phoenix into Nephthys the Sacred Flame! And Disciple becomes Conductor AFTER the war.
Came back after nephyhys was added to master duel. As a casual player, this really helps to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the archetype. Thank you for making this a lot simpler for people like me to understand :3
Their link monster should have an effect that serves as a ritual spell just like Megalith low level monsters are ritual spells. Like a ritual Verte Anaconda, just without the search. And counting as one of ritual materials.
Want more support for this deck, it's the only ritual deck that love me (not bricking a lot easy summons) and with the next fleur support (another deck that love to destroy cards) we can mix it
They really work well with Dino’s with the right hand that’s my favorite ver to run and sometimes with kozmos since they do trigger there effect the machines tho
Great video nova Also can anyone answer my question Why do certain cards like armed dragon, the creator, horus and nephthys have dark forms is their like a story behind it or are they just dark cause it’s cool
I did know of a story or theory on that long ago, and that was those you mentioned having dark forms were seeking power. They found it in the darkest part of the world and acquired it and became stronger because of it.
Nephthys: Gets an entire Archetype that revolves around ritual (unexpected but cool) and link (but why?) summoning. No effect trigger on tribute (rip Hand). Ritual spell doesn't destroy. Rokket: Despite being a link Deck, gets a random ritual monster. Heavy Interlock destroys instead of tributes. Yeah, anyone who says Konami DOESN'T make decks bad on purpose is delusional. Sacred pheonix is an iconic early game card and deserves better.
Okay but what about the insane synergy with Yubel? You can use disciple to destroy yubel and terror incarnate on the field, then incarnates effect will trigger the destroy effect. PRetty easy to make it a control deck, because you have yubels monster removal, with fire king avatar yaksha splashed in, you've got about 5 different ways of comboing. Yubel will keep your weak nepthys cards safe while triggering their standy effects, and cerualean and sacred pheonix get brought back every turn to deny backrow.
Like the rising pheonix every time that this archetype was turned down I came back around to vote for it again! Storytime: at one point i was talking to my coworker who plays magic about this deck and forgot that the "beatstick" and "booty" slang terms arent exactly in every game so I was unhesitant in calling Disiple a "Loli with a 2000 booty" I am reminded of this mistake every night in my nightmares
They could just give them a field spell with the effect: "nepthys" monsters used as material for a ritual/link summon are destroyed (this still counts as a ritual/link summon.). Slap on one or two other effects, and solve the whole problem in 1 shot.
GoldenNovaYugioh, I think you got the "Awakening of Nephthys" Trap card wrong, it was only talking about the second effect can only be used once per turn; not both effects.
I‘ve never heard of entire archetypes that are Duel Links exclusives. It‘s often only singular cards. Kiteroid, for example, was an anime-only card. Even to this day, it might not be in the TCG and OCG.
Can I see explanation on black luster and zefra cards. Pls. I like black luster wish there was more cards cause he looks soooo cool and I like idea of zefra but should have been a chaos theme deck in my dumb opinion cause I mean zaafrath think that how you spell it literally has a white and dark color pattern that seems chaosy to me and ik that’s not a word
The archetype in theory wasn't bad, but they really butchered the execution, I wish they make more cards to fix it, specially that Ritual spell, it should destroy the monsters rather than tribute them.

The only thing that bugs me with nephthys is that their ritual spell doesn't destroy instead of tributing that would have been perfect

Fun fact : Just 5 days after your video,"Chaos Nephtys" was revealed for Battle of Chaos booster set.
They constantly destroy your hand... But there is no draw effect. This deck need something to draw for each card's destroyed
Shinobirds are another cool thing you can mix with Nephthys. They're level 8 rituals, so you can search them with the Link-2, as well as recover their ritual spell from the graveyard.
The irony of this theme being Fire focused, while the actual Nephthys was a river goddess, is very triggering.
Really?

They fused two of the ancient Egyptian mythologys it's good for me
And they are WIND attributes
Its a kind of a tribe worshipping a Phoenix-god like creature... more synergize with the Fire King spells...
Winged Dragon of Ra
Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys
Mythical Beast of Serket
And I think Horus the Black Flame Dragon might all be of similar origins
Doesn‘t Horus kind of have his own archetype with Dragunity? They also have a bunch of bird of prey-headed designs.
@@r4nd0mguy99 and serket is considered a boss monster for Gravekeepers but it’s not the first time multiple archetypes share a bit of lore

I like nephthys but I'd love to see Fire Kings get a new structure deck or new support 😁
I use this deck, mixed with a few other archetypes, and it duels very well :) Nothing meta, of course. A very fun deck
Nova you did again!!! Chaos nephthys was release today!!!!!
"I don't think we'll get a card based on Nephthys, it might be too sacrilegious in-game."

I used to have a playset of ulti 1st ed FET Sacred Phoenix. Still think it's one of the best art works of any yugioh card!
Stuff like Nepthys, Ra and Horus are always so cool to me, give me more Robot dragon chickens with Egyptian God names Konami c'mon
Such a self-destructive dragon-bird
sacred phoenix was always my favorite card. Popped this thing out of a pack and loved it since
Nothing like looking at Exodia's sister's pet's fanclub
I have all my nephthys set aside for a while, and this video is helping me turn it into a deck!
Their link monster should have an effect that serves as a ritual spell just like Megalith low level monsters are ritual spells. Like a ritual Verte Anaconda, just without the search. And counting as one of ritual materials.
I remember being here at 900 Subscribers. So happy for you
Plus if the link 2 monster is treated as a ritual monster for the summoning of the link 3 monsters because you need the link 3 in the extra space
Really like this archetype myself. It’s one I tend to revisit every now and then.
I just like how Disciples hat is too big for her lol
Currently building Nephthys so thanks a bunch!
I'll never forget how running the Phoenix cards with Fire King Island made Yubel a meta deck in Duel Links.
Your video clearly shows that you're a [[BIG SHOT]]!
Love your archetype explained videos! :D
Well...
In duel links, it works great with Yubel.
Want more support for this deck, it's the only ritual deck that love me (not bricking a lot easy summons) and with the next fleur support (another deck that love to destroy cards) we can mix it
Imagine if they had ritual/extra deck hybrids
Like a special fusion that requires tributes to summon a powerful ritual fusion monster
That I can see
I always like how fusion is almost always a go to for an archetype that needs an extra deck special summon 😂
Sooo… contact fusion, links?
They really work well with Dino’s with the right hand that’s my favorite ver to run and sometimes with kozmos since they do trigger there effect the machines tho
i think fire kings in same archtype family they maybe the closest cousin they would be okay if they in the same vod XD
Great video nova

I never noticed the "dark magical circle" in the artwork of "sacred pheonix of nephthys". I bet it's the card with the most cameos in other artwork!

Don’t forget the people who combo’d this with Yubel to turbo out her next 2 forms.
Immagine if konami released a new nephthys card 4 days after the video that wold be real sad
Ah yes, the Archetype that gave me a crippling addiction to Winged-Beasts!
I always thought it odd this theme's ritual spell doesn't destroy the monsters instead of tributing them. Even so love I love the aesthetic.
OBEJECTION!! This archetype is so reliable to Ritual Monsters

ive never noticed nephthys arms and torso before. I thought it was just a golden bird like ra, im scared of it now
Nephthys war the first ultra rare I pulled (back when that was the highest rarity)
I was waiting this video !!!!
For mine deck I went with the Yubel line of cards
I just got all my nepthys archetype card just in time for this video😁
It's funny that Nephthys cards are so focused on destruction, when Nephthys was the goddess of mourning and healing
Ironic as hell.
And one of the most annoying archtype ever and I'm talking to those two birds in duel links especially

The way to make this archetype worthwhile is to not make it too slow or switch the destruction effect with banishment instead.
