Ah, my favorite archetype. Versatile, terrifying, and beautiful to look at. A landmark in the game...even if it now has fallen a bit behind.
Here's hoping for terminal world support.

I love Shaddoll, my favorite archetype in the game so I gotta clarify. The reason that El Shaddoll wendigo is so bad is because since she is a powerful being that the Shaddoll had to take over by force while she was still alive, is actively fighting back against the corruption and not providing the Shaddoll with her powers. This can be seen with how she is the only El Shaddoll fusion monster that doesn't have strings coming out of her to control other Shaddoll drones, but instead is restrained by the strings tied around her body. The Shaddoll archetype has so much lore and flavor to it it's such an interesting lore read
But he said right in the video that it's still disappointing regardless. And having a passive/defensive effect would still be lore based or even having the opposite effective with the same stats as her fusion in RBs was defensive. And then there's the fact that they already dropped the ball a bit with the original RB fusion.
Feels so weird that Nova hasn’t covered this yet.
I hope that shaddolls return to their true former glory. Was my first real deck when getting back into yugioh and would love go seem them back on top just one more time.
I just invested in Dogmatika Invoked Shaddoll for a late birthday gift.
invoked Dogmatika Shaddolls was my first Master Duel deck. I still remember how it was able to beat Rhongo and VFD at the same time in the early days.
Shaddolls changed the meta when they came out
You got to wonder how painful the Shaddoll Transformation Process has got to be.

@chrisharte4280 here the shadows take you and you disappear, with the amorphage virus your body starts breaking and mutating into the creature. The amorphage spell and the look of the monster cards make it seem more brutal (imo).
Shaddoll was recently added to Duel Links, and it got its own Archive Skill (meaning every Speed Duel character can use it) "Shadow-Weaving Power"
I wish it was a bit different but it's still good as a skill
One of my favorite Archetypes of all time.
Konami like: "You can fuse by sending materials from your [hand/field/GY/deck/Extra Deck] to the [GY/banish pile/deck] with a Fusion spell, or a non-fusion spell, or often just no spell at all. Fusion materials optional."
Then the other mechanics are like, "Can we banish cards from the GY for our mechanic? Or use materials in our hand?" and Konami is like, "Woah, that's a big ask there, buddy."
To be fair, Fusion at a baseline is more resource intensive than the other extra deck summoning methods (2+ monsters, sometimes specifically named, and a Fusion spell) so it makes sense Fusion is give extra resources to make them compete
locking materials from hand seems fair if they're letting you use from deck.
I have a lore question about this archetype actually: do the prefixes have any specific meaning? Or are they just flair
Not sure about the others but fusion El Shaddoll is based on El Shaddai which is Hebrew for God Almighty. Appropriate for the Constructs since her name in the OCG is El Shaddoll Nephilim another word for God.
The "El" in "El Shaddoll" is most likely an inspiration from the Abrahamic inspiration of the third arc of Duel Terminal. "El" is an ancient Semitic word that can more or less translate to "god" with the same connotations (it could refer to any sufficiently important divine being but also was used as a name for the supreme divine being).
The legacy support prefixes use Kanji that makes a clear meaning in Japanese while the ruby text/reading of the kanji is not entirely accurate but gets the point across. They all use "影" which means "shadow" and in the context of Shaddoll I think the usage is referring to a sort of reflection or silhouette. The reading of the Japanese in their names being different because it incorporates a loanword (Hebrew or Latin) that can help translate the prefix.
I believe the implication of the legacy support Shaddolls are that the original spirits regained sentience and joined the heroic side of things so they aren't actually written with the Japanese word for "Shaddoll" as their main name as a nod to this lore connection. They have a title such as "Wing Shadow Spirit" (for Wendi) or "Shadow that has become Holy" (for Keios) that due to a quirk of Japanese are given the readings "Reeshaddoll" and "Qadshaddoll" (same logic applies to the other four). They're still Shaddolls in terms of the type of power they use but aren't being controlled.

I'm already going in salty, knowing Red-Eyes Fusion came out over a year after Shadoll Fusion and Shadolls didn't need it.
Shaddoll Fusion needed to be competitive so they created it that way as a Fusion archetype

I was building Shaddoll in Master Duel because of that one Fusion mission. After all, I pulled three Shaddoll Fusions while pulling for Zefra cards. But I kind of ran out of ideas to improve that deck. Same with Zefra. Thanks for the ideas to improve that deck, and I can craft more than one El Shaddoll Fusion too.
EL Shaddoll construct is a beast

Tearlaments can theoretically make Anoyatillis since Reinoheart is a water, but Reinoheart doesn't have the fusion when milled effect the other main deck monsters have.

hey! I really love this archetype too! I don't know how good it'd be for you but my all time favorite deck is a 60 card Shaddoll + Witchcrafter deck though that is only better than 40 if grass is legal (I play master duel lol)
I got to play shaddoll for a while and not completely dove into it, but it was quite the good experience

8:45 you’d be surprised actually if you use this to help out certain boss monsters when combined with Shekinaga since Genius would force them to activate their effects or risk them turned off which then Shekinaga negates
It’s a brilliant Zeus answer in archetype or DPE back when Verte was legal
The Kaiju monsters work very well too with shaddoll

Imma say that theres one archetype you probably missed (well, 2 actually)
Krawlers! More specifically, World Legacy! World Legacy Pawns is a trap card that allows you to flip any monster at any moment you desire. Depending of how much you wanna play more Krawler, you can use Krawler Soma, who can trigger your Shaddol monster by flipping it face up and SPECIAL SUMMONING ITSELF AND 2 OTHERS SHADDOLS. One last monster not to sleep on is Deus X-Krawler, a one-sided Skill Drain for your opponent.
One last card thats really cool (In NR FORMAT) is Subterror Succession. Its basically Small World, sending a monster from hand as an effect to search a flip monster or sending a flip monster to search a monster with the same attribute but lower level.

Love the aesthetic of the entire archetype, but does anyone else get FFXII Mateus vibes from Shekhinaga and Anoyatyllis? What with the whole goddess bound to a more sinister being that merges with her to create a new threat? Especially the latter being mostly encased in ice?
This deck always came across as a corrupter style of villain.

My first meta deck that got me to ycs
5:24 Funny story when I played against a Virtual world player I used Quadshaddoll effect to give my El shaddoll Construct 400 mlre ATK get over Mathmech final sigma. I did lose the Match I did make sure Sigma fell.
Also for my Shaddoll deck I run an Exodias because in testing it out I noticed that if I run out of monsters I was screwed so I ran Exodias,Pot and Jar of Averice to make sure I don't deck out and my key cards are in my deck again.

In hindsight, might have been nice to have had some Fusions that were more "Fusion," like beyond one monster riding on or in another.
Yugioh theory, there will be an "Eyes" dragon type theme. A way to connect all the multiple "Eyes" dragon monsters across Yugioh.

As a semi-new player, I do have a question that probably seems stupid. Is this archetype good? Not necessarily as a pure Shadoll deck, but if I were to potentially use Shadoll cards with the Aleistor package and/or the Dogmatika package, could I find success in Master Duel with it? The mechanics and lore both seem super fun to me, but I'm worried that I'll spend the resources to make the deck and then have it just be unusable
Errr they are not top tier rigth now, but you can, Dogmatika Invoked can run Winda, Apklaone and Shism as an small floodgate package, Branded can use Shaddoll Beast as a Brafu target and access to Winda and Construct, saddly most of these decks do not run more maindeck Shaddoll names since their effects are sub par nowadays
