      @@101nemesis I don't think they were friends, but the fact that Jay-Z ended the rest of his shows after Chester's death on his tour with Numb/Encore meant something. The first set of music is Points of Authority, but the lyrics and rhyming are 99 Problems by Jay Z, it's such a good blend. The music matches perfectly with the rhyming and spitting. The music change at the end is then the song One Step Closer by Linkin Park, but still 99 Problems in lyrics and rhyming, until the very end when Chester comes in and it gets real heavy, that's all Linkin Park in music and vocals, it's the full breakdown from their song One Step Closer, followed by a another little mix of One Step Closer and 99 Problems to finish.

    Fun fact about that concert: Mike said they polled their fan club about their music taste and gave out passes according to that essentially. Which is why the concert was so small but so hype. Because the fans there were fans of both LP and rap (or Jay Z and rap).
    And most of the songs from this album were specially re-recorded for this mash up.

    • @sadiekincaid5310
      @sadiekincaid5310 ปีที่แล้ว

      @businesscatlimbo they gave out some of their 200 tickets to fans for free. Jay Z also had 200 tickets for his fans in his fan club just like Linkin Park did. The tickets were about a $1,000 per ticket and only available to members of their fan clubs. This was at the Roxy theater in Las Angeles CA and it had a 500 occupancy limit. So they only got 200 fans each since there was more people there than just the people who worked with Linkin Park and Jay Z. There were people from MTV Mashups show that only ever had 1 episode.

    Ya'll never disappoint, keep doing you! Lex is adorable when she starts head banging with her pig tails Haha! Also ya'll do such a good job of breaking down songs meanings, here is a thought provoking one! Break down the band Disturbed "The Vengeful One" and make sure to watch the official video as the lyrics wouldn't carry as much meaning without the video. It was done awhile ago but the meaning is still very relevant, probably more so than when it was put out. I would love to see how ya'll would break this song down and what ya'll thought? They are metal but have alot of good songs with a message like Five Finger Death Punch.

    It was initialy the first of a series of shows MTV wanted with artists from various genres collaborating for a live show. Jay-Z and Linkin Park were so good, they decided to not continue the venture ( i doubt any others would have been better ).

    Great reaction guys!
    Someone has probs commented already, but if not, check out Collision Course - the documentary about how this collab came about, it’s only 45/50 mins and includes all 6 tracks they remixed.
    It was awesome, watching the Linkin Park boys getting super nervous, waiting for Jay to arrive!
    MTV had approached JayZ with the concept of doing a serious of mashups and wanted his to be the first ‘episode’, they asked him who he wanted to work with most in the industry and he said Linkin Park - who obviously jumped at the chance. Mike (guy that rapped Jays first verse, then played the ‘cop’ in the next part) is super talented and roughed out the remixes to send to Jay, I think they were supposed to do 1 or 2 tracks, but Jay liked what Mike had produced so much they ended up with 6 mashup tracks!
    This is my fav collab ever!!!

    I don't understand why it matters how old the song is, it warms my heart to see rock and rap collaborating, plus 2 different generations. If we had more of this and less fighting and killing and drugs and suicide, wouldn't that be amazing. Oh well I can dream right. RIP Chester, Layne, Chris, Kurt, Mike, Andrew, & Scott, and anyone else who has left this place way to soon.....
