Seems legit. He drives like 65+ hours a week. Makes like 1500 per week, that's about $22/hr in revenue but his net gain is lower after calculating expenses like gasoline. I make about $18-$20/hr driving for Uber part time but after calculating gas I make like $15/hr. Then you still have to pay taxes on earnings.

And yet many people working in advertising or pr barely makes 50k, nyc average income in like 45 ish. While some people make 150k and more you still cant take 75k for nothing when people on average makes 45 possibly less.
He aint homeless and he got a nice car with thousand miles. Lol! He aint begar so wtf you guy complaining? Jeez! He is working! I feel sorry for you guys. Its called work!
I'm trying to estimate what's going on here. All his expenses isn't clear, but it appears he's working from about 6:00 am - 5:00 pm six days a week, making $250 a day on average. For an 11 hour day, that's $22.23 per hour. That's not pay-dirt, especially in New York City (a Big Mac Meal for two can set you back $22), but if he's happy I'll leave it at that.
I'm honestly more interested in what his actual costs are with the depreciation of his car and everything that goes into it. Also, the apps are constantly changing what they pay drivers and the different incentives. I personally know people who think they're making decent money and when you take everything into account, they're making minimum wage or less.
Depreciation doesn’t actually matter for us. If anything, just lowers the excise tax rate. It’s like leasing a phone from a carrier. It’s revolving. Most of us aren’t driving Jaguars nor are we hoping to keep the cars forever. When mine goes, just gonna grab another and forever have a car payment. That’s totally fine with me. Ft driver and it’s the best job I’ve ever had. Expenses are very little, live outside my major city and leaves me extremely comfortable living
Mlucky yeah I make $5590 in a major American city; gas is $10-20 a day in my Prius and roughly 10k miles a month. Car will most likely last until 2024 at which point I’ll just pawn the old one off on CarMax and buy a new one. Would have to anyway; both companies require 10 years or newer and mines a 2014. Most of my expenses though are made up for by tax breaks. And the ones that aren’t - insurance, reg etc are ones everyone else in America already pays for...not sure why the negative guys on here are lumping these in with “our expenses”.
6-5pm is 11hrs. At $250 per day, that's 22.72/hr. Subtract running costs, lack of health insurance/sick leave/401k.He's making minimum wage and sitting 12-13hrs/day bc he still has to drive when he's off work. Sounds like a pretty poor career choice based on numbers.
He makes 72,000 a year -14,400 maintenance and gas and his car value goes down by at least 40% for the millages he is about to add to it. Left with very low money for a NYC living expenses.
I don't have a charger in my car so my rating is 4.98 and also earn about 6 grand a month but not trough the entire year . Working 10-13 hours a day in UK :)
I quit my job at a beef processing plant 3 yrs ago and drove for uber. I drive for over 12 hours a day Mon-Sat and 8 hours on Sun. Put it like this in 3 yrs from now, I will have made over $300k and on the road to retirement in another 2, and I'm 37 yrs old
My friend install three apps, so when we're going out, I would order from one, another friend from another apps, and the third one from the other one so he run 3 apps and get income from basically driving his friends around. We just rotate the app ordering.
I don't get it. So u order an Uber. Pay $20. Your friend orders the same ride on Lyft, "pays", & so does your other friend, & u all split the bill? He charges u for rides? Your driver's income is coming fr your pockets though.
Sergio Aguirre I’m saying why CNBC is reporting that we don’t know what the rider pays when of course we can see what the rider pays. In the app you can look at ride details. and sure sometimes uber will take a big cut but that’s besides the point. This report praises uber as the best thing since sliced bread for the drivers but it’s not all the great!
Also must consider the fact that he’s living in New York meaning much much higher ride costs than somewhere like Texas, overall he’s making 76k with New York expenses, probably lives the same lifestyle of someone making 35-40k in Texas
I absolutely love this video and wish other Lyft drivers or Uber drivers or the gig economy side of working so more of what it’s actually like so that people do understand the side of the industry. I have been a full-time Lyft Driver for almost 3 years now. I am transitioning to move to Austin for a new start and opportunities, when I started I was skeptical of the income or opportunities that comes with left but I can finally say as being 23 I make anywhere from $6000-$8000 every single month. That is not including the businesses that I will be running for pet sitting and Airbnb and future rental properties. Loved this video. Hard work and dedication pay off I also work very specific hours too, I work mostly nights. Busy days and hours in austin. Thursday-Sunday (8pm-3/4am).
So if you believe the article/Video it's $250 per day average 'X' 312 days because he takes Sunday off which equals$78,000/yr(the article said 72 I'm assuming he takes some other days off but anyway). Now they said just the car expenses is $1,200/month 'X' 12 months is $14,400 so we're at $64,000 just with car how about house/apartment let's keep it simple and say $1,500(even though it's probably more because it's New York) 'X' 12 months is $18,000 from $64,000 is $46,000 googling average amount spent on food for a family of 5 is $600/month let's just say $500/month 'X' 12 is $6,000 so we're at $40,000 also add utilities IDK $300/month (just making stuff up now) 'X' 12 months $36,400 also add things for your kids birthdays and anniversary for your wife holidays Christmas etc let's just say the rest of that money goes away and he's left with nothing assuming his wife works ( it would make sense because he's the one who picks up the kids from school) so that means whatever his wife makes it's probably all extra money for whatever so if you believe everything I wrote (which I don't even know if I do) I think he's doing pretty good.... If you real all this thanks just up at 2 in the morning with nothing better to do... Bye
@@jayz4evr I drive for Uber... You definitely can. You have to look at fare details and you will see everything to do with the trip, which includes what the passenger paid.
@@mattjvlogs3157 I'm not talking about what happened in the video, in general you have to press "fair details" and you can see everything about the trip. Including what the passenger paid.
I do Uber part time in my brand new Honda truck . I speak to everyone who gets in the truck and try making their days a little better. Definitely a good gig and convenient too
I certainly love his hustle. But he really makes 4800 a month before depreciation, that's more like 57,600 than 70k. And then when you realize he works 60 hours a week, that's around $18.50/hr. Not bad, until you realize 20 of those hours would have been overtime. His real comparable hourly wage is around $16 hour in NYC. So while it is great he is willing to put in the hours for his family, he might want to see if there are opportunities that pay more so he doesn't have to work so much.
The most my dad has made on Uber+Lyft in one day is $130. 18 trips. We live in Tampa, Florida. It all depends what trips you're willing to take. I've only done Uber once and gave up the next day.
This is doable. After expenses, he's netting $4800 a month or $57,600 a year for 7 hours a day. There are taxes. Being an independent contractor, you hàve to also factor in health insurance and no benefits. I prefer delivery driving so i don't have to worry about passengers making a mess in my car.
I had been wanting to try Uber delivering but was skeptical if it was possible to make some decent money. I needed some extra money to pay for a surgery and my friend told me to try uber. To my surprise, i was averaging $800 per week being on the app 28 to 32 hours. I wouldn’t say is easy money, but I rather do ubereats than working in retail, at a restaurant or as a laborer. Since Ubereats is all about tips, customer service is crucial. When customers orders they tip upfront, but soon i learned that some will tip even more later if you go above and beyond. When there is a delay, i message them, i greet customers by name, i tell them to enjoy their meal, etc, and always have a smile when interacting face to face. When i started doing ubereats, i had a full-time job in manufacturing. But, recently, I landed a job as an interpreter where the pay is way better and with great benefits. I started doing ubereats again for the summer just to finish paying off medical debt.
We used Uber a lot of NYC and ran across a lot of great drivers. I can't see why only 20% of the people tip him. You don't have to tip something crazy like $100, just tipping a few bucks adds up.
Driving for Uber or Lyft you are still someone’s employee. You still have to answer someone because they don’t want bad reputation because of a driver and drivers are the one who don’t get paid by company but invest from $15,000 to $50,000 in the shape of car and pay the company for just creating an app and making them wealthier. Drivers have no power and still they are responsible for everything from the best to worst. Driving for Uber or Lyft is stupidity. Drive around with your car with an advertisement on it that you are running a taxi company and you are the owner. Words will spread out by your less fare which will get you more customers. I know some people who started with one own taxi and now they have many employees.
Totally inaccurate nobody makes 72k in this line of work. A taxi driver has to pay high cost taxi insurance every month! Not to mention a lot of gas money a week plus the inspection, dmv and tlc inspection every two years. Urine test, every four months inspection, oil changes, tires changes (which happens frequent the more you drive tires get punctured) and maintenance fees plus any taxes and car related expenses such as cleaning and parking fees and tickets and also health insurance for himself otherwise he’ll pay a $500-1000 fine for not having it. Overall he may end up with 25k to 30k at most plus he has to pay taxes on that so he’ll get less. The average driver clears about $8,000 to $20,000 a year they don’t make a lot of money like these people are saying its propaganda.
$250 a day... what a joke... did he mention how many hours does it take to make $250...?? it takes roughly about 12 to 16 hours in this market.. with over 100 thousand drivers it's not easy...uber and lyft take big portion of the fair..and they lie about how much the fair is.. they sometimes take more than 50% of the fair.. dont waste your life by driving for these cheat.. selfish and conartist companies..
9.22 for 20 minutes... 😳😳 umm so if I get three rides that’s like 29 an hour. Meh... not worth it.. he’s constantly filling up his tank, and servicing the vehicle.
I tried it for 2 weeks under the Uber and hertz promotion program and the most I made was $5 hour average after expenses working 12 hour days. I’ll never do it again. People do the math and deduct all your expenses and at the end of the year you still have to pay taxes on top of that.
This is truly the only way being a driver makes sense. Working for 3 driving, services having, cargo app, driving non stop, getting tips which is not always guaranteed. It’s hard work and at the end of the year when you deduct all your expenses like snacks and waters, cargo app, special license fees, gas , insurance, brakes, etc. it probably works out to maybe $36k- $45k a year take home. But keep in mind working conditions and hours worked especially. He probably puts in 10-12 hours a day. Averages about $17 - $21 per hour. Tax time he gets a good chunk back but that’s applied towards new tired and brakes and other car mechanical problems. You’re not working a 9-5 it’s a hard job.
You are so amazing!!! You deserve way better than $65000/year. Go start your own business and make tones of money brother! Someone like you can succeed in anything they put their mind and energy on! I believe in you brother! Uber is ripping you off!
How does having a bigger car for having more passenger can get you more money? Its the contrary, if you get a 4 seats car than if people are a groupe of 6, they are going to need another uber, so its going to cost more for users but another driver can get some money. Unless their is a different paying system for bigger cars but I think its only for specific vans.
He works from 6am-5pm, 6 days a week. So his whole life is spent driving in a city he can’t afford to live in. $75k with kids in NY, good luck brother.
Good for anyone that likes traffic driving all day. And dealing with idiots all day . I’m good i tried Lyft and uber. It’s sucks. I rather keep doing postmates only on the weekends and keep my regular job. And still make the same money he made. ✌🏼
I wanted to drive for Uber Eats as a second PART TIME job. But I don’t have insurance under my name. I’m still under my parents insurance. So I couldn’t do it. But the bottom line is I would’ve done it PART TIME. I don’t support driving for a ride share service full time. The wear and tear on your car is very significant and the miles add up very fast.
If New York City's own Taxi & Limousine Commission data proves drivers are making less then minimum wage, how's this guy making 75K? 😲 Something is off and I will not be surprised if this is another Uber marketing ploy
The thing about Uber and Lyft is that you have to be in the right place to make money. A busy place like New York where people ride taxis all the time is a good example
This is a BIG LIE! This is an Uber comercial! I have been driving For Uber and Lyft for 4.5 years This businesses is already dead! Is a debt trap! Don’t let this paid commercial fool You!
Too bad 72,000 a year -1200 a month = 57,600 in New York is the same as poverty somewhere else. Numbers are too skewed for reality. Not to mention he’s working 6 to 5 6 days a week or most weeks anyways. Comes out to roughly 16$ an hour and he hasn’t paid taxes yet. Not all it’s made out to be.

What you didn't talk about is the fact that he is working nearly 66 hours a week. he says he starts at 6am and ends at 5pm. If he averages 250 a day, that only equates to $22.72 an hour. Let's take out gas, maintenance, car payments, and on and on, and he is NOT making 75,000 a year. When all is said and done, I'll be he is making more like 12 to 15 dollars an hour. NONE of your numbers ad up.
I much rather be a uber driver in nyc then work for a company. Ive worked in corporate america and to make 72k u gotta have some serious skills and depending on industry u gotta have a certain level of education that most people dont have to make 72k a year. This guy making it driving around the city. Also at 72k working for a company vs being a independent contractor the difference you pay in taxes are day and night. This guy probably wont pay more then 6k in taxes after expenses meanwhile the guy making 72k working for a comapny will pay easily over 25k minus the freedom of being a uber driver which in itself is worth more then the yearly salary.

This guy is a real hustler💪
The michael Jordan of uber drivers 💯 appreciate your grind
I'm honestly more interested in what his actual costs are with the depreciation of his car and everything that goes into it. Also, the apps are constantly changing what they pay drivers and the different incentives. I personally know people who think they're making decent money and when you take everything into account, they're making minimum wage or less.
Matt Sezer - You’re spot on man. This video is is a lie.
@team awesome Obviously and so what? Money that you lose is still money that you lose regardless of whether you pay taxes on it or not.
Jone Ltwo how much would you say you make in a month. How much does gas cost and how many miles do you incur per month
You can only make this much in certain markets working 70-80hrs per week plus getting referrals.. just keeping it 💯
You know its illegal to not say that a video is sponsored, when it obviously is...
Nyc has healthcare for under 120k
I’m glad he’s hustling! Respect bro
He makes 72,000 a year -14,400 maintenance and gas and his car value goes down by at least 40% for the millages he is about to add to it. Left with very low money for a NYC living expenses.
40% depreciation on a car for mileage? Found the meth smoker
Shill Bill look up the same car with 40k miles on it. It’s 40% less of the 40k$ he paid.
For NYC tho that the point . Unless you rich why you even living there ? The amount of money would make your middle class elswhere
Now do a video of Uber's CEO and bosses, how much they make off these drivers?
I don't have a charger in my car so my rating is 4.98 and also earn about 6 grand a month but not trough the entire year . Working 10-13 hours a day in UK :)
So with a Tesla model x his monthly oil changes and gas would be $0.
But his electric bill will go up...lol
People don't realize the flexibility for workin uber, future in the workplace should be your time, your hours, productivity will go up.
only for certain jobs or very few jobs an electrician a mechanic a construction worker a cable guy can not work the hours they want to work
Hahaha good for you Al you very much deserve it. I love people who do their jobs in good spirit 😄
@@leowzhilin yeah why don't just give him cah and bypass uber or lyft
This guy is using technology is the best way for him
You can see what the rider pays!!! Wonder why they mentioned that we don’t see what the rider pays like it’s a fact?
Sergio Aguirre I’m saying why CNBC is reporting that we don’t know what the rider pays when of course we can see what the rider pays. In the app you can look at ride details. and sure sometimes uber will take a big cut but that’s besides the point. This report praises uber as the best thing since sliced bread for the drivers but it’s not all the great!
I’m very lucky to live so close to Disneyland the tourists are very generous with tipping :)
Also must consider the fact that he’s living in New York meaning much much higher ride costs than somewhere like Texas, overall he’s making 76k with New York expenses, probably lives the same lifestyle of someone making 35-40k in Texas
But the cost of living in NY is way higher than Texas… He is not making that much money after all his expenses!
Its really sad that alot of the commenters don't actually understand how independent contractors make it work.
Can you elaborate...
hm?
More like barely making it
True business man, wish him and his family the best.
FOR ALL THE NEGATIVE SIDE
DO YOU RATHER BE INSIDE FOUR WALLS WHEN YOU DON'T WANNA BE THERE.
OR going around places and doing what you want to do?
I'd rather be inside not stressed with traffic
I absolutely love this video and wish other Lyft drivers or Uber drivers or the gig economy side of working so more of what it’s actually like so that people do understand the side of the industry. I have been a full-time Lyft Driver for almost 3 years now. I am transitioning to move to Austin for a new start and opportunities, when I started I was skeptical of the income or opportunities that comes with left but I can finally say as being 23 I make anywhere from $6000-$8000 every single month. That is not including the businesses that I will be running for pet sitting and Airbnb and future rental properties. Loved this video. Hard work and dedication pay off
I also work very specific hours too, I work mostly nights. Busy days and hours in austin. Thursday-Sunday (8pm-3/4am).
you on god making 1500 a week after expenses ? like on god?
Good work dude
Bye
yeah reading your article at 4 in the morning
The app does show how much the rider pays..
no it doesnt
No it just shows how much he got paid for that ride
Matt JVLOGS yes it does, if you go to fare details you will be able to see how they rob passengers and screw drivers.
Thanks for showing the human side of the drivers
6k minus gas and car maintenance that is required every few months . That's roughly about 4.5k which is still good actually!! 💯
He is driving 12 hours and when uber turned him off then he starts Lyft. Only you can drive straight 12 hours. 24hrs job. 6000 a month. 72k a year.
Y’all talking about Taxes but don’t even know all the stuff you can right off🤦♂️🤦♂️
Meanwhile Vice made a Documentary making Uber driving look depressing AF!!
Yo this uber is so dope
I do Uber part time in my brand new Honda truck . I speak to everyone who gets in the truck and try making their days a little better. Definitely a good gig and convenient too
Navjot Singh truck and Uber? Better have good mpg
Armando Hernandez yes it’s a Honda truck not bad on gas
new honda truck has 19 mpg in city? thats good?
I certainly love his hustle. But he really makes 4800 a month before depreciation, that's more like 57,600 than 70k. And then when you realize he works 60 hours a week, that's around $18.50/hr. Not bad, until you realize 20 of those hours would have been overtime. His real comparable hourly wage is around $16 hour in NYC. So while it is great he is willing to put in the hours for his family, he might want to see if there are opportunities that pay more so he doesn't have to work so much.
Good luck man
The most my dad has made on Uber+Lyft in one day is $130.
This video is absolutely funny. That’s the driving job and most of riders are xxxxx.
Dope 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Wait, isn’t it against Uber’s policy for drivers to have someone in the car when picking up pax???
Anthony Watkis u can uber pool right
could be uber pool
Tax not pax dumbo
@@diylifehacks9278 7
@@ugayasshitbtwpewdiepieisga1342 he means passenger just shortened.
We used Uber a lot of NYC and ran across a lot of great drivers. I can't see why only 20% of the people tip him. You don't have to tip something crazy like $100, just tipping a few bucks adds up.
Yes but if rideshare is your sole means of getting around or the bus, tipping all the time is unrealistic. As a driver and rider, I get it.
Driving for Uber or Lyft
you are still someone’s employee.
EagleEyez786 6-9 hours to make that amount in NYC.
Luis G.M then you must be working in the bronx.. and all they weed smell is getting in ur head and $25 seems $250 to you..
Around $350-400 a day boy ;). If you want screenshots I can send them to you.

9.22 for 20 minutes... 😳😳 umm so if I get three rides that’s like 29 an hour. Meh... not worth it.. he’s constantly filling up his tank, and servicing the vehicle.
20 Min ride in new york can be half of a mile. Say he drives even 10 miles every hour, thats less than a gallon of gas.
Youre not going to get 3 rides back to back, there's waiting time plus you have to drive in between to pick up passengers
Doesn't worth it in Panama. NY NEITHER
But, the app does show how much the passenger paid.
This guy has three phone screens, a car touchscreen, and an instrument cluster display all facing him. Is all that information really necessary?
You can only imagine the shape his back is in, his spinal his blood vessels .. I'm pretty sure none of those companies offer health insurance
Really great video!!!!
The worst job you can do lol
You clock in whenever. You got your own flow going. No one breathing down your neck and it ain't hard labor work.So care to explain?

If New York City's own Taxi & Limousine Commission data proves drivers are making less then minimum wage, how's this guy making 75K? 😲 Something is off and I will not be surprised if this is another Uber marketing ploy
The thing about Uber and Lyft is that you have to be in the right place to make money. A busy place like New York where people ride taxis all the time is a good example
This is a BIG LIE! This is an Uber comercial!
I have been driving For Uber and Lyft for 4.5 years This businesses is already dead! Is a debt trap! Don’t let this paid commercial fool You!
Claudio Rojas rideshare jobs shouldn’t be a full time job.
Ryan Rigsby who said it should be?
Too bad 72,000 a year -1200 a month = 57,600 in New York is the same as poverty somewhere else. Numbers are too skewed for reality. Not to mention he’s working 6 to 5 6 days a week or most weeks anyways. Comes out to roughly 16$ an hour and he hasn’t paid taxes yet. Not all it’s made out to be.
Used to be an Uber driver. Thanks God now I operate the train. So much easier and kind of get respected now. Police actually smile and say hello, kids want to take a picture with me. Base salary 77K made easily over 100k first year with over time. Full benefits and a pension. Plenty of opportunities for promotion🙏 The only thing I miss from Uber is all the hot girls I got a chance to meet.🤪

you should put some seat covers on, driving too many passengers has a drastic impact on nice leather
1. Gas - 600$ (if u wanna make at least 200$ a day u have to drive 100 mile a day.
2. Food 250-300 ( u driving around 10-13h)
3. Insurence 200-300$ liability (not even talking about full coverage)
4. sim cards 50$ ( rideshare drivers minimum they do have 2 phones)
5. Car maintenance 250-300$ every two month ( filter, oil, tire rotation)
6. Inspection every 4 month 37$( TLC Requirement)
7. Im not writing car financing expenses , caus im personally never did it ( but its around 200$ depends car + full covarage minimum + 200$
8. 480$ Every 1 year registration renewal
9. Car wash min 100$ ( but its not even enough.
So u do a math
As soon as i start engine my expense is 95$ day. Includes home rent etc...
I dont know about u but end of the year u will end up 72k ONLY ON PAPERS NOT IN YOUR POCKET!!!
Out of 72 K there is a 8k TOLLs:))
Im not even talking what kind of jobs it is and how drivers feel about it u all know better than me.
10$ 20 mins 30$ per hour and 8 hours a day 230$ a day 6900$ a month 82,800$ A year Get your math right
I much rather be a uber driver in nyc then work for a company.
Ive driven for all these companies plus InDriver and you can make on average at least 25 an hour before expenses. But expenses are huge in NYC.
