Yeah, the only thing that could have clued her in was noticing that a couple of the glyph combos she got from the margins of the diary were spells associated with Belos (petrification, and those weird meat arms).
I feel so bad for hunter in this episode,he was in denial the whole time,he started questioning himself,he got freaked when he learned his uncle is a big fat liar and that he's a grimwalker,this poor soul

It is SO exciting to watch somebody who wasn't already on the grimwalker train react to this episode, the other Golden Guard who sounds like Hunter, rhe conversation between the Collector and Belos, AUGH it's so cool and fucked up
well Hunter and Luz definitely both had big panic attacks after this.

To explain Belos's motivation as a witch hunter:
Belos was born and raised in the 18th century. Back then magic was was feared and considered sinful. There were even witch-hunters back then who rounded up anyone suspected of being a witch. The point is that Belos was raised in an environment to hate witches so when he discovered the demon realm he thought he needed to destroy it and kill all the witches as he sees them as a threat to humanity. After he succeds he's going to return home and expects to be welcomed back as a hero. Little does he know that this is the modern day.

Belos is from 17th century possibly born in the late 16th since he was in the boiling a isles in the mid 1600s and already an adult
I hope you pay attention to the backgrounds. The production team practically shoved lore down our throats, but only in the background.
Try not to be distracted by what our focus characters are saying or doing
I absolutely love this episode because it truly dose begin setting up the endgame strategy for all participants for seasons 2 and three

Belos reminds me of Amon from The Legend Of Korra both people loved by everyone both hate and want to get rid of people with powers and have equality both clame to comuntcat with a entity and both of them turn out to be compleat frauds and both of them changed there names and both of them have a brother and both of them have a scar across his face and both of them ware a mask
