My first time watching The Owl House Reaction to Season 1 Episodes 14-19
In this video, I'm reacting to *THE OWL HOUSE* for the first time. We finally get to Grom and the Season 1 finale was SHOCKING!!

When the prom episode was about to premiere, the creator of the series, Dana, suggested to all her fans that they dress up fancy to watch that one, and I appreciate that the tradition has made its way to virtually every TH-cam reacter watching the series that I have come across as well.

Can we just appreciate that Eda calls Willow and Gus her kids? True, she calls them dumb kids, but she calls them her dumb kids.
I’ve really admired Eda’s development throughout the series, being hesitant to take in Luz at the beginning but still liking her free spirit and determination. It’s nice we learn about her past and her troubles with her family so we know why she’s often bitter, but she becomes a surrogate mom to Luz and King, as well as any kid she comes across. I love her, she’s so iconic and loveable
Dana Terrace looked in Mickey Mouse's eyes and said, "I'm having queer main characters in this Disney show, and no one's going to tell me otherwise."
And there was much rejoicing.
She looked at Exec's in the eyes, Mickey is innocent of their nonsense.
And they looked back in her eyes and said "Hey about that season three we promised you..."
As always, fuck Disney.
And then Dana *ate* Mickey's minstrels. And there was much rejoicing
"You were never too weak to be my friend, I was too weak to be yours." is the line of the episode for me in #15.
This episode, and that line, would have been my absolute favorite except it was immediately shadowed by the next one.

One thing that makes the penultimate episode so much sadder is that the sun was setting during Eda and Lilith's dual and was rising when Luz got back to the owl house meaning she literally walked all night having to contemplate what just happened.

Hooty’s voice was originally a temporary scratch track by Alex Hirsch, who was just goofing around trying to do a bad Mickey impression. Dana Terrace ended up liking it so much she kept it.
Ah yes, this is where the show really starts getting traction... and shockers 😮

Yeah, you can really tell with Season One how the "Disney influence" to have standalone "trope-based" episodes had a lot of sway (directly or indirectly), but starting with Ep.15, the show pretty dramatically swaps from episodic to the much larger story arcs that had just been hinted at previously.

if you remember Luz's first day of school, she had an Eda puppet with two different colored eyes: one yellow and one grey AND IT WAS FORESHADOWING TO HER CURSE BEING SHARED WITH LILITH AND HER EYES CHANGING COLOR!!
also foreshadowing is sprinkled literally everywhere and the smallest things may be foreshadowing so (especially with this show) think about why they added certain details because they all are intentional

So just to let you know, The Owl House has some secret messages related to the episodes.
The first one is very simple, it's an acrostic formed by the episodes first letters. For the first season it forms: "A WITCH LOSES A TRUE WAY".
But there's another secret message! In every episode there's a coded message in the background. The full message is "Two Witches Torn Apart Now Alone Two Hearts Of Stone A Curse Of Feathers And Mud A Betrayal Of Blood". Its' refers to Eda and Lilith's relationship, Eda's curse, and how Lilith is the one who cursed Eda.
For season 2, don't hesitate to note the first letters to discover the acrostic by yourself!!
Wait wait wait. Where was the second message hidden? And how have I been a fan for this long without hearing about it???

@@rachelhansen2417 Each episode has a set of symbols, somewhere in the background, marked by an eye symbol at the start. Fans decoded that each symbol represented letters or sounds, and eventually decoded the messages themselves. There's a poster in 1x05 "Covention" that has words in both English and the symbols/runes, so I think people started there and figured out the rest based on context, sort of like solving a cryptogram.
Grom made me literally cry, and I tear up every time I see a reaction to it.
That we could have mainstream representation???
I'm in my 50s. It's been a long long long time coming.
What happened to Amity's brown hair is that her mom forced her to dye it green because she likes her children to match.
(As the twins of course are natural... greenheads? And of course it's pure coincidence that Amity's mom also has green hair, while her dad has brown hair.)

@@brains4rocks nope, there is an offhand reference to her mom liking it green, but the full story we only got from Dana during a charity livestream between Seasons 1 and 2
@@Olochgu You can also just see her roots growing out, with the brown coming back in under the green. That's a pretty clear sign that her hair is dyed.
Can’t wait for season 2! Essentially the reason why Luz couldn’t do magic in the human realm whereas Lilith could is because witches have a bile sack on their hearts.

A detail about Lilith cursing Eda that I think is important is the "I thought it would only be for a day"
She was going to do basically the equivalent of tying Edas shoes together before a 100m dash. Nothing more harmful than a childish prank.
But as we know it became a life-threatening condition that has crippled Eda for the rest of her life.
Some have also called Lilith stupid for trusting that the emperor would actually heal Eda. But that's from our perspective based on knowledge of story structure and such. To (almost) everyone on the Boiling Isles Belos is pretty much a God-king who wants the best for his people. A image of the man that Lilith has lived her entire life under.
If such a person offered to heal her sister, she'd have no reason to think it was a lie.
Not to mention she'd be driven into a blind fervor out of guilt for what her cursing Eda lead to

Witches can generate their own magic - that "bile" sack next to their heart. Luz, however, is dependent on the magic of the Boiling Isles. So, Lilith can still zap things in the Human World, but Luz literally has no magic to use there.
Or, IOW, Luz needs to be plugged in, witches are wireless...

Looking back at this, I was reminded just how chilling Emperor Belos was even way back when; he was only onscreen for a few minutes, tops, and yet stole the show and made such an impact.

This reminds of how after agony of a witch aired, the whole fandom held a lilith is over party and I think that's hilarious
Season 1 is a fun time and very foundational in a lot of ways for establishing the characters and world. The things that happen later hold more weight because of the time spent getting to know these characters and their interpersonal dynamics. As I understand it, it was around 1x15 when the Disney execs took a bit of a step back and let the creator do what she wanted to do with the show. Things continue to build from here and you're in for quite a ride. Definitely looking forward to the upcoming Owl House reactions from you.

OH MY GOODNESS YES YES YES!!! I'm a bit late but that's okay, girl we told you these episodes were going to be emotionally draining (and you haven't even gotten to worst yet- you just got started) it is very cute and Gay (so many cute and funny lines especially from Amity, Mae Whitman did such a good job) and then all of a sudden it takes a big turn I mean I had an idea in the back of my head the Lilith cursed Eda but at the same time I was so shocked and the fighting scene was just INSANE that was legit a Masterpiece and then the aftermath with her crying with King and Hooty just had me dead (also I love Hooty and Lilith you will soon adore them both) just the last two episodes were absolutely depressing but like I said were so good! I can't wait for you to check out more of The Owl House, I can't wait for more Content from you and I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy!

Hi hi, so you said something about hooty being interesting to voice, and it just reminded me: hooty's voice actor is alex hirsch, the same as king's! He was originally just supposed to do king, but one day he was making a mickey mouse impression to make dana laugh (dana is the creator of the show, dana terrace) and she saw that and said: keep that. And they put it in the show as hooty. Lmao

Can’t wait for season 2! Just so you know, episode 7 introduces a non-binary character (goes by they/them) the acknowledgement of this is a blink and you’ll miss it moment, so pay close attention. As for these episodes: I think we can all agree that there is nothing platonic about that dance scene. Also, episode 17 has 2 alternate titles- “Sports “ and “Amity being a gay mess for 22 minutes “

A lot of people have problems with Amity being absent in the last couple of episodes, but I think it was the right call. She’s not in a place where she can be around Luz without collapsing into a blushy mess and it would have destroyed the serious tone.
