  • your morning coffee and so on, but the dollar is much more than that. Across the globe, the dollar is still the world’s favourite vehicle for foreign trade. In fact, it’s the premier investment currency, principal intervention and reserve medium for most if not all governments.
Such popularity doesn’t come easy. It’s the result of a long and relatively enduring competitive market struggle that, by today, has taken on much of the character of a self-reinforcing process.
Over time challengers have emerged and despite the concerns about the dollar’s power, experts believe it’s unlikely that it will be replaced anytime soon as the leading reserve currency, a fancy title it got about 80 years ago that has brought some pretty serious perks to the U.S. economy. But is there any chance that the dollar will get knocked off its top spot?
This is why the dollar may not fall just yet.

Sooner or later BRICS gold back currency will give a good competition. As they started trading using local currency rather than US paper currency.

The dollar will definitely go the way of the British pound sterling sooner or later. Alive, valuable but less relevance. 0:02
