Why Germany is De-industrializing | The German Economy
Nearly twenty years ago, Germany overcame its reputation as the sick man of Europe armed with ambitious labour market reforms that unshackled its industrial potential and ushered in a sustained period of prosperity, driven particularly by strong demand for its machinery and cars from China. While Germany frustrated many partners by exporting vastly more than it was buying, its economy flourished. The boom times, however, came with a cost.
The economic strength led leaders into a false sense of security and their failure to pursue further reforms is now coming back to bite. The perfect storm brewing over the once European powerhouse signals that its current recession isn’t just technical, as policymakers had hoped, but rather an indication of a fundamental reversal in economic fortunes that threatens to send tremors across the continent.

    Bearing and raising kids falls entirely on women. Women are sick of the exploitation, on our bodies, on being financially dependent on men. If you do have a career, as a mother you make less money. Screw that, y oung women: Get educated, get your money, dont fall for the con of marriage and children.

    The same government? Communist China? Are you seriously this uninformed? Your video really misses what is happening in China. In China, as in the corporate west, Chinese women are choosing careers. These women then realise that what their parents told them about getting married and having children was correct, just as western women have learned.. Their biological clock has struck midnight and they are no longer able to have children or the risk of having a child with physical or intellectual disabilities is too great. Men that want a family see zero value in these women. They care not how much she is educated or how much money she makes.. Her ability to have a family is all that matters.

  • @PxThucydides
    @PxThucydides 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Observing decision-making here in Canada my take is that young women are faced with the prospect of losing their careers if they have children. They lose their seniority; they lose their place. Except jobs with strong unions. For instance I see lots of teachers taking maternity leave and having children. But women who are in tech, or women who are lawyers, have the prospect of giving up their entire careers if they were to go off and have a child. So they don't. That's something that hardly ever gets discussed but it certainly a huge issue for the young women I know.

    I don’t think it’s a serious problem at all. Humans are not going to go extinct. There will be a surplus of housing and farm land. It will wipe out poverty. Most workers work in service sectors at the moment in rich countries. These are often not essential workers and society won’t collapse if they are not replaced. If a massage parlour or a betting shop closes down, it’s not going to matter much.

    Young people see no reason to have children in a system of rampant and worsening economic inequality, just so the.01% are assured a never-ending supply of cheap labor with no choice but to accept horrible working conditions at pay so low they can barely make ends meet for themself, let alone raise a child. And why should they bring children into such a miserable existence anyway? That's not even considering the fact that Global Climate Change is going to make things so much worse. Here's the facts: Our current economic system is unsustainable in the long run *even for the wealthy*. Who are they going to sell to when most of the population is penniless? The only solution is to dismantle the current disastrous system and stop privileging the rich over everyone else, and invest in what everyone *needs* to settle down and raise families, rather than indulging the desires of a few who seek to transfer an ever-increasing percentage of all the wealth into their hands.
