Besides Joey's magnificent drive I love this trio. It exudes empathy, comfort. You know, I played, with Joey at the piano when he was 15 to 16 jamming at the Village Gate's terrace NYC. Whe you think of a point when you might be able to play anything at anytime l think of Joey because he's, still, the one who gets closer to that point. He has become a model of inspiration for anyone and everyone and so he will be remembered
My wife just gave me the biggest compliment. She thought that was me playing tenor! (She wasn't watching the video). I wish I could perform with Joey DeFrancesco!
you've got good judgment friends - that's Jeff Hamilton - you''ll be hard pushed to find better - a master jazz drummer of classic pedigree who has played with everyone - Ella, OP, you name it he's played with them - and yep - he reads their minds and they love it.
It's called Ring-a-Ding-Ding! Originally recorded and released by Frank Sinatra in 1961, but also recorded by John Pizzarelli and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra in 2006.
Joey is amazing as usual in this extemporaneous performance. That said, something is off with the audio from Viscount organs vs. Hammond B2 organs IMHO (irrespective of Leslie speakers).
geez...the camera hangs on Joey and I never know if he's just kickin' pedals or if there's actually a bass player with them...maybe it's just the lower register on the B? either way, it's super stuff.
Been listening to him the past few days. What a swell guy and his playing is out of this world. Miss you, Joey. Rest easy pal.
RIP, Sublime musician, and super guy.

can't get enough of joey and his fellow artists-
words can't describe how transcendent they are!
Wow! That's amazing. I heard Joey and Troy playing at the Monterey Jazz Festival a couple years ago. Absolutely great!
Scary ow much talent these people got. Incredible
This performance also has a view from another angle. Thanks 4 posting.

Joey clearly digs Jeff. Duh. Everybody digs Jeff.
this is, without a doubt, the greatest Hammond B-3 player that's ever played it...I know there's been some great ones, but Joey rules, hands down.
Joey is a great talent and a nice guy also
R.i.p Joey...miss you too much Man.
I still can’t get over the loss of Joey.
RIP, legend
Monster players. Great jam.
No matter how you weigh’em Joey is the greatest living organ player ... pun intended
I’d go with Corey Henry but I’m ok with anyone who would say Joey✌🏾
Looks like he had relatively short fingers. Which didn’t stop him setting the bar pretty high in the B3 territory.
wow - first Peter Erskine, and now brush master Jeff Hamilton... only wish we could've seen him more... Awesome!!
drummer just with him all the way playing so responsively. for eg. 5:28 comin in on beat 2 together. that shit get me turnt up
Right? The sync between drums and B3 really hit the spot on this video.

Jeff Halmilton -- Legend! And I don‘t mean the organ…
To have Joey and Jeff playing together is a powerful combination. The tenor player is good, but needs more seasoning.
monster! rip
That was a good jam boys!
A real jazz cat !!!!!!!
Who else besides me caught themselves smiling while watching this video?
Troy Roberts on Tenor saxophone
Cheers!
@@timothyjensen179 Thank you!

There was no bass player; it's all Joey.
Incredible to hear (and see) the walking bass line while he's soloing 9:33-9:44 😳😃
Great guys! What mouthpiece and reed is Troy playing?
Vandoren V16 T7
Correct - Vandoren V16 T7 with V16 3.5 reeds. :)
What's the name of this tune? The melody is so familiar but cannot for the life of me recall the name....
Ring-A-Ding Ding. Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen tune recorded by Sinatra.
THATS RIGHT, THANKS MAN!
@@mitchfuku No prob! ;-)
Sounds like Take the A-train, but yeah Ring-A-Ding Ding.
@@jrgreiner thanks!
Joey DeFrancesco meets Francesco 1:30 :-)
Ughhhhh that drummer! Plays chops like nothing! 🔥🔥🔥
Mr Jeff Hamilton there
What's the tune?
Song?
Yes, it‘s a song.
Sounds like an adaptation of Take the A train, with the +5 chord in third bar.
It's "Ring a Ding Ding"
You need Eddie baccus Jr on horn.!!!!!!
God that snare sounds terrible
Yeah, birds way better than these guys.
