I'm not a keyboard player but I played music for a living for many years (guitar and bass). I see Joey going through these changes and playing the bass line on the lower register and it still blows me away. I realize he's done this for many years, but he's just laughing and looking around and playing these lines like he's not even really thinking about where he's going next...it's just mind-blowing to me, still to this day. God, what a wonderful player he is.
Jeff Hamilton on drums is an absolute monster. Listen to what he does during this vamp with a bass drum triplet at 8:14...absolute TNT blowout!!!!! Love you man! And Joey too, same goes for his sax man. Absolute control and power with taste!!! Also, at 7:12 where Jeff snares Joey...beautiful!!!
He was one of the greatest B3 cat's of his generation and his influence can be heard everywhere there is a B3 jazz musician coming up in the jazz music scene. He will be missed but his music will live on forever...RIP my brutha in Jazz!!!
JOEY'S entire family were organists -his father and brother. Joey played with the great Jimmy Smith when he was a young boy. Jimmy's talent certainly comes through. I cherish my Dvd both of Joey and Jimmy. They both are missed and won't be replaced anytime soon.

Jeff is fantastic. I couldnt believe my ears duribg his three little 8-bar solos from 5:17 - 6:09!! 😅 That last syncopated, quarter-notes to eighth note-triplet snare-bass fill was so unexpectedly sublime! 😊
Wow - Joey at his usual magnificent best! Jeff Hamilton on drums - wow - all those guys who think they need a huge drum set to make that much sound ought to have a look at how Jeff gets a giant sound out of that little set.
I had the pleasure of attending Joey D's saxophone clinic a few months before his transition. Somehow he was also a MONSTER on that instrument. A segment from that session became the core of this tribute video. th-cam.com/video/QphvtS2Xl1Q/w-d-xo.html
You mentioned a machine lifting itself which reminds me of a true story from a refinery during a strike. While the union members are out on strike, managers and engineers operate the refinery and maintain it. A go-devil or platform crane is a wonder machine for lifting smaller and lighter parts. It is small and maneuverable. A younger engineer was operating a go-devil and got a flat tire. The engineer had to change the tire himself. To lift the weight off the flat tire, he put the hook on the skirt above the tire. Fortunately, somebody saw what was happening and stopped him. You cannot lift yourself by your bootstraps nor can you lift a crane by hooking onto itself.
I have seen both Joey and Jeff but not together. I saw Jeff play in the restaurant where Beretta’s wife was shot play with Akiko tsuruga and it was great. He is a master and played with all the greats. Joey left us to soon. I hopped I would see him move when he moved to Scottsdale not the case
is this a chorus C3 effect? It is a little strange... but what a music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Master drummer...thanks Joey
That left hand walking bass is simply amazing !
Such a joy to listen to every time RIP Joey
Ahhhhh .... sweet stuff. Real music. Not just backing tracks.
Joey is the Oscar Peterson of the Organ. It's great that he's accompanied by a jazz legend like the drummer Jeff Hamilton and a great saxophonist
carlos nagy Oscar was a prodigy imho .. the man played after his stroke with one hand, still better than most even could with two .
Insane
Nice! Thank you! 👍🙂
Always amazing! I feel somlucky to have been able,to hear Mr. DeFrancesco live! Yes, Jeff Hamilton is elegant, and supremely talented.

The Joyful Conversations Inside the Groove is What It's All About!
Jeff Hamilton adhering to the song form in his drumming at all times.

Oh yeah . I was thinking the same thinking the same thing. Where is that bass player. Then I looked at his left hand ...oh yeah. Really.
Don't forget he can switch his left hand bass to foot bass in anytime.
So tasteful. Joey D Trio! That drummer is very skillful too.
Made my day!!! Love you Joey! You are special! Great players, sax and drums, “in the pocket!” 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎹🎼🎶🎵🥁🎷🎵🎶🎼

The great Joey !!!
04:43 Joey: mmmmh... ok, right hand’s fingers...go for a little run! 💥🔥🔥
It's good to see, how fast the drummer changes from "sweeping" to "hitting" and otherwise...
Because its Jeff Hamilton.
Swinging ,Love It! What a joy to hear great Music played by great musicians!
Brilliant. Nice to hear a lovely trio and just some great straight ahead jazz. The Viscount sounds really sweet.
Goosebumps
It'd be really cool if all the musicians were listed...
Troy Roberts on sax, Jeff Hamilton on drums.
Joey genius! Bravissimo!!!
Troy Roberts on Sax 🎷😎
Yeah is it too much to ask Kraft Music to list the band in the description? Sax players get no respect.😂

Feckin' magic!!!😮
Jeff Hamilton on drums and please, who is the tenor sax player?
It’s Troy Roberts on sax. Check out the band Void. Killer musos from Perth, Australia.
fun with Jeff
Joey jest najlepszy na swie
Great bass foot work.
Sounds good
Just think - the NAMM show! All that talent, all those experts, and not a single damn one of 'em knew how to mike a saxophone.
/watch?v=yeOLcYStSLI better angle from the other side ,sax and organ more in balance
EPIC!
Wonderful 😍😍
Drummer mind blowing. Consider his age ?? Not mentioning organ ? Wooooowee. Sax also So much talent. Unreal
Drummer is Jeff Hamilton. Among the best ever.
Excelenteeeeee!!!
Legends 🙏
With Jeff motherfucking Hamilton
WONDERFUL language skills ...
@@Tonetwisters No, that's actually his middle name.
Giants of jazz🎵🎶🔝💿
Would be nice if the sound man would turn up the sax player's microphone if he has one, he sounds great. Joey is the man.
Markus Arike sounds like it's recorded using the camera mic, he needed to move closer.
Sssssswingin'!
RIP Joey D.
I turn into Maynard G Krebs when the music is this good!
❤
Does this guy ever get confused for Nick Frost??
Lol and also, great set!
My broder francé!
👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 Awesome. 😀😀😀😀😀
That's a nice organ!
That what she said!
Todd Holsopple 😂😂
This one is especially for all the drummers who have kits so big you can't even see them play... Burner, using just a snare, swinging his a$$ off!
Jeff Hamilton is one of the best to play drums, so with a ride and snare he can make magic happen. Just as he just did in this video.
Hallelujah !!

This was the NAMM show, yet there’s no sax mic! WTF?!
I’m sure they were mixing fine in the room. They weren’t there to make a recording.
