Used by the RFDS in australia, able to land on dirt, grass or paved runways of around 900-1000 mtrs , & a range of about 3610km makes this one a very capable & very flexible aircraft
Seeing a transport type jet at max certified altitude in a 45 degree bank level turn is mind blowing! But nothing is cooler than the off pavement ops… What a capable and elegant aircraft.
@ It is, doesn’t change the fact that all modern jets have much wider range of speeds at high altitudes, so it’s unique anymore. Pilatus builds marvelous planes, I don’t quite see the off-prepared surface capability-lots of damage risks for little gain. Next we’ll be seeing accidents like on the owner-flown PC-12s-poor risk assessments and decision making. A wet grass runway is difficult to make performance planning, especially engine failure cases.
@@GLEX234 Also I have never seen a Lear/"Micro" jet with out a A-10 thunderbolt 2 engine placement which the A-10 has it's odd engine placement because of a few reasons related to it's combat role. But in this case why it matters is having engines above the wings means you don't have much of risk of engine ingrease from the runway... Meaning if you have a run way long enough their is no reason why you need to only land on pavement. Unless the ground was extremely soft and or rough then you would sink, bust a tire or even damange your gear... So you should be able to take a lear any of them and land off pavement as well as a sports car can drive and park on grass or dirt. Which in this video I seen no signs of big bush tires or even stronger naval acvation type gear... So the off pavement abilities is likely mostly marketing and if it has any backing it's this plane has better short field proformance then most lears on sell today... Which makes it odd that they just don't market it with that instead of off pavement which any Lear should be able to do which out any noticed difference then landing on pavement. Which I have seen mirco/small private jets that have engines under the wings but they all are combat jets or one of projects... Which mid and big jets land off pavement all the time even with their under wing engines as they are so big the engines are high off the ground enough to have the same effect. Not to mention big enough to not care about engine ingrease you get from off pavement landings/take off and they always have at least two if not 3 or 4 so having issues from engine ingrease is not a concern unless something horrible goes wrong.
Got her in MSFS2024 and was very excited about flying with that beauty - but: she's broken. Unfortunately the PC-24 in fact insn't ready to go! What a mess! Great video, great airplane!
One feature not mentioned is the engine tapered engine exhaust nozzles which help a swift rotation at take off . Good performance is a sum small details..and till now small twin jets weren’t that successful... but a Swiss Army knife versatility with a Swiss watch quality and precision made it happen…65 years after a “Swiss jet” which became William Lear Learjet 23…time flies like small jets.
Winglets only increase efficiency at high lift coefficient. (Low speed, or very high altitude). At high speed (the way jet owners fly, because they bought a jet to go fast, not save gas). Winglets don't offer much improvement.
th-cam.com/video/z0aQtBTNxWg/w-d-xo.html what she was actually designed for. hence why that massive rear door, not for cargo, which is a bonus, but so that an emergency hospital gurney can be easily loaded and unloaded. th-cam.com/video/RxrbsCOsPMw/w-d-xo.html in use.
Charley, how could you just sit there so stoic & silent? I'd be giddy all the way there and back. Also, what happened to the drone? Obviously you went back & got it, but did it just land after you got too far from it?
Super versatile aircraft that is more like an SUV than a sports jet. Would be nice if they could up the cruise speed to at least 450 knots. Sales would go through the roof if they did that.
The PC-24 has an MMO 0.74. Which is 425KTAS at certified ceiling of FL450. It has a published maximum cruise speed of 440KTAS. This corresponds to Mach 0.74 at FL280 on a Standard Day. That is actually a respectable mach number for an aircraft having low wing sweep, and high lift airfoils. (Two requirements for short fields). If they want "Sales to go through the roof" it would need nearly 50% greater range. New York to London should be the Econ cruise target. This would also allow New York to Los Angeles. And Los Angeles to Honolulu at higher cruise speeds. If it cannot make it to and from mainland and HI, or in between Pacific Islands, it cannot access Japan and Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. If it can barely make it to Reykjavik from NYC, this means The Americas to Europe is a two-leg journey. 3 legs from NYC to Italy or Greece. Unacceptable range for many Jet customers. This is seriously hindered range compared to other mid sized biz jets.
As already others have commented this jet was designed for the australian royal medical flying service. So this jet is purpose built for that. Being able to land on suborbital surfaces is a must for these medical evacuations. They dont care it doesn’t fit your rich guy private jet market.
Did you have to file COAs for those drone shots? or was the ATC, and Airport manager fine with it and said something to the effect of “go right ahead, just keep reasonable distance, wink wink” 😄
imagine some good aviation ai combined with this plane.... self flying planes... hello pc24 please fly me to the best beach near sf.... oh you could land there? ok.... surprise me!
Clickbait titles are exhausting, if you're "shocked" by where you landed it was either an emergency landing suggesting something went wrong with the plane or the pilots, or you didn't do the required preflight. Either way it's a pretty bad look..
That pilot is what we in the biz call "handsy"....he creates most of the roll oscillations with excessive roll correction inputs. Let the plane fly itself, unless the PC24 is that unstable in roll...which I doubt. Even the Learjet 24 which was my first type rating was not that bad it and it was bad...especially at approach speeds

Swiss perfection!

specially designed in cooperation with the RFDS. hence the massive back door. big enough for a gurney.
A good Swiss made plane.

With this behaviour at service ceiling, I wonder why she can't be certified higher. Would probably be fun to go "VFR on top"... ;-)
At F450, you could 45 degree banked turns all day long in a Global Express.
@@GLEX234 Isn't the GLEX rated for FL510?
Also, it's "slightly" more expensive than the PC-24... ;-)

I higly recommend you visit the HQ in Switzerland. It is amazing.

I haven't tried 2024 but the physics in 2020 feel like an arcade game. Things more feel like they're on rails
@@deekamikaze the physics are arguably better, but the game is very far from being release ready at this point :/
Awesome! I’m sure those students doing touch and gos were wishing they were flying this! Keep up the great work!
Amazing plane, great video 👍🏻✈️🇺🇸
Just WOW !!!!!! THANK YOU for these video's..... Really amazing jet ❤❤
Awesome. Well done.
I'm not saying that the PC-24 was designed specifically for smuggling, but it does give that impression. "Versatility" indeed..
I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years, but I guess a shitty spin can be put upon anything ...
This thing is designed for Arab Sheiks.
Their Falcons have expensive tastes.
@@Hurbie_53 It wasn't a criticism, I just can't think of a better use for a jet with a cargo door that can land on short dirt strips.
It is indeed designed for smugglers, it’s the pilatus strategy to get through to another addressable market.
It is a fair conclusion, albeit unfortunate. I’m sure the smugglers love this plane.
This is the Best Jet !
Wouldn’t expect anything less from the folks that created the PC-12
Thanks.
Very Cool Jet!!
Man, you are living the dream 😅
Love this jet!
That was nothing but fun! 🎉🎉
The guy flying never cracked a smile.
Great video!!! Thank you!

Love the Captains voice... Is he a former Blue Angel?
Was he landing on a carrier? Did the hard landing HUMS trigger?
i heard winglets make the aircraft fly further and saves fuel.plus it would look cool too with wing mounted fuel tanks for more range

BEST PLANE EVER
Now that was fun! and quite unexpected. Did you stop at Cutter in KABQ? thought I might have seen this plane before.
This thing can go where most light twins can't. Absolutely wild.
Please add afterburners 🙏🏻😜
Great video of an awesome Jet!
Congratulatioms to you and the Pilatus Team!
SWISS 🇨🇭 QUALITY ❣️
Beautiful plane all around. Unfortunately, I'm just about $9 million short to be able to even look at one...

what cameras do you use to doccument this?
Combo of go pros, drone, and nicer Sony/Canon stuff. Just depends on the shot!
Great aircraft in need of more range unfortunately they need an ER version
The avionics and cockpit video is not on screen. PIN in it comments section please

At 0.56, why is the Swiss flag 🇨🇭 in front of the airport , not a square?
