  • I have decided to deconstruct most of my eyeshadow palettes and keep only the shades I truly use from each one. Come see the process of creating a new single eyeshadow collection from my palettes!

    For anyone trying to depot in thr future, for palettes like the pat mcgrath just use your hot blow dryer on it for a minute or so to melt the glue

      And use a magnet to pop them up. Works with all magnetic pallets.

    I broke a ton shadows when I depotted 😢 I found out if you mix rubbing alcohol and the shadows into a paste, press them back in the pan, when they dry they are as good as new. 👍🏼

      Yes, I've done this with a lot of shadows and blushes in the past! Such a great tip, and hopefully helpful for anyone reading this! I just didn't have the mental focus this day to depot all of these and then also take the time to repress those that broke :( so they are casualties of the process, sadly.

    Depotting is a great way to really get to know all your shades and put them in a colour story that suits yourself - but I don't have the courage to do it anymore, it's such a gamble as to what will break. I usually lose a third of the palette's shadows, but maybe I am just not very good at it. Your large singles palette you made looks lovely 😍😍

      It's totally a gamble, but it has turned out to be worth it for me even though I lost a few!

    I’m so here for the makeup violence aka depotting great way to make room by condensing the collection and creating unique palettes of colors you want.

      Yes, it's been so great to have it condensed down!

    This is a great video. I loved how you showed what can go wrong and what to expect when taking on a project like this. I have a handful of palettes that need to be depotted. Ty and that’s a great z palette from Adept

    I have a ton of blushes, bronzers, and highlights that I want to condense into magnetic palettes but I’m so scared of breaking them. I wish all companies would make them magnetic.

    • @MorganWitteTaylor
      @MorganWitteTaylor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know, it would be so much easier! I know it is less environmentally friendly to have magnets with heavier packaging for shipping, non-recyclable without deconstructing, etc., but I think it would mean that most people get more use out of what they purchase!

  • @ceceking7445
    @ceceking7445 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I can’t lie this was infuriating to watch because you didn’t use heat or a smaller tool to get down the side and just tried to flick them up and I could just tell they would break and then you not repressing them and just saying oh well hurt my heart 😭😭

  • @ZelmaNLyssah
    @ZelmaNLyssah ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So for those little disks they are just metal and your big palette is one magnetic sheet this is why they stick because those eyeshadow pans are either metal which sticks to the magnet in the palette or they are aluminum pans which do not stick to the magnet palette . The aluminum pans are the ones that bend and shatter the eyeshadow because there is no structure like a real metal pan. I hope I explained this good lol I have multiple sclerosis and my brain is dumb lol 😂

  • @catherines2544
    @catherines2544 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You could have definitely made your own magnetic palette with the juvias place cover and colourpop magnetic sheet
    You are brave for doing this! Depotting plastic packaging is so hard. if a palette isn't magnetic it would be nice if it were cardboard so it's easier to deconstruct and potentially recycle :(
    The pat macgrath palette just grab some of the magnetic sheeting from one of the depotted palettes. The stickers are a magnetic material not a magnet

    • @MorganWitteTaylor
      @MorganWitteTaylor  ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case, because most of the palettes were destroyed, I tossed them. In most declutter situations, I’m able to gift the unkept items to friends and family who would like them!

      Floatingindreams depotted her UD and Too Faced using her hairdryer softening the glue and carefully prying the shades out working section by section. Especially with older palettes it should work out relatively easy.

    Try to add some alcohol under the pans. It disolves well the glue and you could also keep the packaging 😊

    With those shattered eyeshadows, there was no need to throw them away especially if you wanted them. Just repress them back with a bit of rubbing alcohol and they are good as new. Such a waste

    I sit my palettes on a heating pad, remove some shades, heat again, etc… The ones that aren’t ‘magnetic’ require a metal disc with adhesive instead.
