Hi Simon, I watched your video through, and will answer to some things in it. Yes, those are glow in the dark stars on the pouch. The Hermit is the default pouch card and is in in the printing when I make the deck, I have two extra spots when I print the 8 pages of ten each which makes 80, a deck is 78 cards. I chose the Hermit as the extra one for pouch covers, and he has the different star in the lantern. Sometimes I use the title card, which is a Star card on the pouch. Those two extras, the glitter cards, yes one is a medium and the other is a travel size. There will be some variation in exact size with versions. It is not exactly correct to say that my basis for the order I like to put the deck in is astrology. Tarot came first. My Astrotaro deck started purely as a tarot major arcana. I wanted to add courts, by then I was into astrology a bit, and saw it that they could be connected to the 12 signs or personality types. The order I put them in is derived from placing the tarot courts (minus the knights) in order as to suit, and I did put them in order as to astrology, fire first (wands) earth (disks) -air (swords) -water (cups). Then I placed the kings all together and started them with King of Wands as Aries, the beginning of the cycle of astrology and the year. Next the four queens all together, and last the pages. I saw a LOT of correspondence between the image and feeling of the cards and the signs with this layout. The queen of Wands fell into the place of Leo by this ordering. i did not choose her because of the cat. It happened to be there on the right place. When i painted the Original version it was before I had access to laser printing. The orginal paintings are around 5 x 7. At first I made decks using photography, and I kept on refining and adjusting the paintings to get better and better results. I had to re-do the photography every time I made around 10 decks so I could get a much better price on the prints, and this led to me being able to continue with the adjusting, as time went by.. So you can see I have been deeply involved in shaping and transforming the work over the years. Starlight is one of those transformations. At a certain point I started to do the different versions, in response to interaction with my clients. When I painted the original version I made two sets of paintings for the majors, the Magician of the Starlight is one, and the magician of your original version is a totally different painting. Here is a link showing the alternate majors: www.soul-guidance.com/tarotdecks/divinesparksmuseum/2019%20SS11.html This particular set was done up with glitter and added painting with fluorescent. Oh, and yes I also LOVE the Temperance card and painted it 4 or 5 times. I guess I really should post al of those images. At the bottom of all this is I love to paint. One of the things i have come to understand by painting the RWS so many times and in so many ways it that it almost makes no difference what you paint, it is what you do with it that counts. Not that many people really paint. One sees a lot of coloring, and even painting that basically is just coloring, also lots of digital imaging and collaging, but what i do is far from just coloring in a drawing. I go much further, and add a lot to it. What I do is about energy, and I get a lot of response from people affirming this. i hope to be able to continue making decks, but for now I am cut off from my source of printing. I have no idea what the future holds in this regard. I could be that this is over, and I will just go on to my other painting. I have a few decks available, people need to ask, If I do not have it I will put their emails into my file of order requests until i am able to do them. i will not send out any invoices or take any pre payments on things i do not have in hand. One last thing that comes to mind to explain here. about the clarity of the resolution for the new Starlight you just got. How I did it... first I scanned the images of the Starlight paintings, which are the black borders set. ( I print the black borders decks directly from those paintings on the color laser printer, and that is where I lose some resolution.) The new borderless was done by me going digital onto photoshop with scans I made at home on our scanner, of the black bordered Starlight paintings. I had to do some digital resizing to get everything in equal proportion and size. Also,on photoshop I could zoom in a huge amount, and I did a LOT of work to clean up the artwork. The paintings are kind of small, and when I zoomed in I could correct things that just were out of reach with a paintbrush. I think this added to some of the clarity as well. Anyway consider yourself exceptionally lucky to have the two decks you got. Only a handful of people have them, and the future looks uncertain as to more being made like that.
I do Carol, I really do, and consider them cherished tools that I’ll have with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for the detailed response and clarification. I will pin this to the top, so that everyone can see. 🙏🏼❤️
I did get lucky, Carol kindly sent me both decks, which I adore. I use Illuminated every morning and Starlight every night. Carol painted beautiful purple backs on Starlight. I have been a fan for years, I have three other versions from over the years but I do think the new borderless on thicker stock are my favourite decks! It’s worth any wait time.
I am SO excited to watch this!!! Both versions just so truly special. I agree with you, they both are beautifully detailed and the energy from them is moving. My glittered Starlight is one of my most favorite decks...magical.
What a lovely side by side, Simon! Thank you so much! 🙏 💕 I really enjoyed seeing both of the Illuminated decks and comparing with my Crystal Fire Illuminated Tarot by Carol that I now have in my collection and love!
Beautiful! I love seeing the two decks side by side. I got the Starlight Illuminated Tarot deck last year, it is stunning! Large size is the way to go, they are amazing. Just had to pull out my deck to ogle them, along with your video : ) I waited a long time to get a large size deck, and I'm glad I did. Well worth it, a birthday gift to myself. Also have the original Illuminated Tarot deck in the small travel size, at least 10 years ago.
I totally get why almost everybody is sending you something 😍 You so sweet and your voice is sooo soothing that even my freshly unemployed broke ass wants to gift you something 💜💜💜 Please accept bunch'o hugs 😁
✨Your side by side walkthrough is a treat! I am so excited to say that I have the softly lavish Illuminated Elemental Rainbows 🌈on order, and I will be getting the magical elevated Illuminated Starlight to have alongside. The contrast will be heaven. ✨ Thank you, Simon!
Lovely to see them side by side! I've wanted one of these for a long time, but there are so many versions and I can never decide, and "all of them" isn't really an option. Now the starlight may be inching out the others 🙂
I ordered the Illuminated Tarot and Carol is working on it now. It will take some time to get them but I’m really looking forward to getting them. Something to look forward to!
Just in case any of you missed this, here is my fun Starlight video, with me playing my harps and singing bowls and singing a kind of mantra-song I made with Starlight Starbright first Star I see tonight... th-cam.com/video/dw6PGaJ5K0Q/w-d-xo.html
The starlight was always a tad sharper than the illuminated 2 which is the third I have. I thought maybe it had to do with the smaller version I have that sharpened.them, but looking at yours I am seeing it’s on larger cards too. I love my starlight medium size tho. And that bag is beautiful.
@@the_hermits_cave The source images for what I now call the Illuminated Two BBD were originally created so I could make medium size decks. This was a long while back, and it had to do with limitations in production and the capabilities of the printing machine, the laser printer. I used a set of the original version to do it, a set of prints small enough to fit a full page of 8 cards on the 11 x 17 copier scanner, on the glass and reduce them to 8 1/2 x 11 to get medium size.. The results were less than perfect so i did a lot of adjusting by painting into the prints i was using. I worked on refining this for a long time, years maybe. Some of them got to be quite changed, others not so much. The prints I used as the base were from way back when I printed on a Canon 500 laser printer. The images on that machine tended to be sharper to begin with. So the Illuminated Two, the original version with black borders is unique. I really like it. I like to paint into the copies for decks to make the glitter iridescent and fluorescent decks. You can see some of that work in my Divine Sparks of Light archives. Here is one set i did: www.soul-guidance.com/tarotdecks/divinesparksmuseum/2017-02.html
carol herzer Thsnk you Carol, they’re beautiful. So how many iterations are there of the illuminated? I know now of the Starlight and the BBD, are there others? I love the deck you created for my friend Patrick (the living wheel, who comments above). I would love one of those one day, but will need to save. Unless my summer holiday to Glastonbury is cancelled in August and then I’ll be in touch. 🙏🏼
(SIMON - PLEASE BE CAREFUL - Things I now notice, that I hadn't before. You received a postal package today handled by others and opened it in an unboxing on camera proceeding to touch your glasses and your face without washing your hands first. I've been seeing notices that say let cardboard parcels sit for 24 hours before opening, or clean them (or yourself) before/after handling.) As to the cards - I'd be hard pressed to choose. I like the warmer color palette of the former, but the star patterns of the latter. I think I might almost want to order both with the same backings and mix up my favorites from each deck a la carte.
I will torture myself a bit more by watching this. Meanwhile my Birthday gift-The Illuminated Starlight Tarot"- is waiting in its postal package till mid April till I am allowed to unwrapped it. Arrrgghhhhh...
