Greetings I watched this walk through Friday. I waited until today to post now that my deck has arrived. I have both editions. I like both editions in different ways. I love the moody otherworldly sepia of the first edition. The second edition is beautiful but I need to spend some time with it to get too know it. Thank You For Sharing ☕️☕️
After a more thorough look at these cards, I agree with you David. Some of the essence of the early artwork has been lost in the 2nd edition with certain details and less subtle colouring.
@@redwing3969 Those were my thoughts too, that the original preserved the faded colours of actual manuscripts, which adds to the antique feel. I always loved the azure (caused by Lapis Lazuli) in medieval art, especially in those old Books of Hours, which feel so personal to the owners. I think that's what makes it different from, say, Kat Black's Golden Tarot. It's more like a montage of medieval "works of art", whereas Serpent & Peacock seems more manuscript based.
Lovely walk through 😊 Can't wait for mine to get here. I agree, the original moon card is my favourite. If I hadn't seen this, I wouldn't have realised what I'm missing lol. 🌻
I seriously cannot wait to receive my copy. It must be a few days away now. Thank you for another wonderful review! I always watch your videos for a trusted opinion on deck's quality 💎
Wow I really like both of them. The images are amazing! I like the new moon card though and the old world card. Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing! (I need this deck) lol ❤
This edition is absolutely gorgeous. The colours are full and saturated. So rich- I had to order a copy. Was able to place my order straight away! Thanks for this awesome review ❤
Just wanted to say Simon received The seasons of a witch Mabon Oracle deck today, love it, Thank You for the walk through. 💖The art work is beautiful, and I will place them on the altar nearer the time use them until the next sabat.💗 Now I can watch this walkthrough. 💗
Oh! I'm so torn! I had the first edition, but it left me a bit cold with an imperceptible tint of blue over the cards and their being not the sharpest resolution. I LOVE the new card stock and warmer palette and sharper focus. I'm not sure about the card size and thickness as I don't generally like bigger cards. I do appreciate more image, however, the way the cards are cropped off the edges make me wonder what else I'm missing, whereas, the bordered version kind of sets the limits on what you see reining them in for focus in a less FOMO manner. I wish they'd added a very thin black border on these like they did on the card backs. I'm really going to have to think about this and decide about ordering before they're OOP. By the way, they feel like they'd pair perfectly with the Zammer oracle.
This is so beautiful, I love it 😍 I wanted to back it on Kickstarter but couldn’t at the time. Hopefully I will be able to still get a copy at some point. Lovely walkthrough as always my friend 😍❤️
Thanks for this deck comparison Simon. The art deck is so vibrant and really brings the creatures and characters to life. I've just ordered my copy, better late than never! 🤓
It's so nice being back home, in my bathtub, catching up on some of your videos Simon! For some reason this deck, the Art version that is, gives me Alleyman vibes, but a lot less random. Fun😍❤️✌️!!
i didn’t know this deck existed before this video! i’m completely in love with it. the only thing i thought was odd was the pentacles. they don’t necessarily look blended into the artwork as i would have liked. it stands out too much, but i’m also thinking it’s because i don’t have any decks with silver (as opposed to gold) pentacles on it. i think i’ll get over it, though! just ordered my copy and am very excited! thanks for the video :)
Random extra tidbit: the Ace of Wands has an owl, and next to it is a Greek word, it says 'glaux' which means owl😊, i just had to look it up. Also, and severely cool imo, you can see around the word where they gummed out earlier text... It's a reused parchment, aka palimpsest! That makes it look so medieval ❤.
Great walkthrough! I prefer the colours and size of the first edition, and exvept for the Moon card, which is not medieval and feels like a intruder, I also prefer the versions of the first edition because they are less busy.
Wow looks amazing in the video. It is a beauty, the images are fascinating. A good chunk of a deck and the antique gold is perfect, not glitzy. It's not a sterile mass market, mass produced deck, produced for profit, but a lovely independent project.
I have both decks and they each have their own unique offering, however, the additional art book is definitely not worth the price, IMO. The LWB that comes with the deck is truly all you need. There is definitely not enough different content: you get a tiny little bit more info about the art, maybe location, maybe one or two more words for the keywords, but that is already in the description, and the description of the cards is exactly the same in each book. The only real difference is the actual art piece she pulled the card image from is included. Sadly, the image on the cover is askew and is not the quality one would expect for $44 USD. All the details about the art that you need is included in the LWB.
My copy arrived today, and I was honestly very disappointed. The wands and swords that the creator edited into the images look so amateur and lack any polish. It looks like they did it in Microsoft Paint. The art is lovely, but the lazy editions of the objects to represent the suits totally ruined it for me. Also the card stock is SO flimsy, and the gilding on my copy was damaged. I regret this purchase, to be completely honest.
Do you know if the second edition is going to replace the first edition? Or it was just the kikstar especial edition sale and it's over? 😢 Because I had this deck in my Amazon wish list for some time but now that I see the artwork borderless I'm just in love! Thank you for the video 😊
there's about 350 left of the art version.... and about 250 left of the original version.... the art version is limited and will not be reprinted and I'm not reprinting the first version again either. There is a third version with words on it that will pair with the mood of the moon... that would be the most recent one kickstarter coming soon
I love it!!!! this is a deck that is just my cup of tea, I really need to have it in my life lol... Went on the website but there is only the tin version for sale at mo. Is this deck not yet for sale or....? please don't tell me it's already sold out 😶
What stunning artwork. I'm fascinated by early works of alchemy, mysticism, and spirituality. A most beautiful deck indeed !😍🌞🪐⭐🌙💜💫

You’re welcome ☺️
To be honest, I prefer the original one. And I like it so much that I think it could be the first deck I'm willing to pay overseas shipping for.

Oh wow…. The art deck is stunning
Agree 💯
Lovely walk through 😊

I completely agree. It’s one of my favourite moon cards ever and so I’m quite sad it’s not in this version 😞

You do! 😝
I really love the old moon card, but I can live without it I guess 😂
Beautiful quirky deck the colours and art work is stunning. Thank You for the walkthrough. 💖
You are so welcome! 😍

I fell in LOVE with this edition!!! Ordered!!! Thank you for sharing. I think this will become a new favorite of mine!
It’s certainly become an instant favourite of mine 😍

Hmmm. I can't find the new edition on the website. It looks like they may only be selling the 1st ed. in a tin.
I thought the exact same thing, regarding the pairing!
My copy arrived today - just so gorgeous! Love it! Great video (as always) Simon!
Isn’t it beautiful? Such good quality too. Good to see you Patrick. I hope you are keeping well 🙏🏼❤️
Oh my this new edition is incredible 🤩🤩🤩
I agree 😍
@@the_hermits_cave I just ordered it 😎

I have the original version and I like the newer version more. I like that the colour is more saturated and that you get more of the image.
Agreed! 💯
Hope you’re doing okay, lovely 😊
I love the size and shape of the cards in the 2nd edition but prefer the thickness of the stock in the 1st as well as the more desaturated colors.
I would get both decks and use them to make one deck with all the cards I like the best. And I'm in love with the original Moon card!
They are differently shaped though 😍
Apart from a few nice changes in the second deck I much prefer the first by far 👍🧙♀️

Fair enough. Mine is far from flimsy though.
thank you, interesting deck

I’m not sure, with it being sent for review. Is there a way to contact the seller through the shop?
Does anyone have an issue with the printing quality?
Not at all. Love it 😍
