I have this exact car in a MY2017. Everything you've said about it is exactly true. I've personally pulled the same test numbers as your team and it's consistant. I've been on three 13hr road trips in the 14 months I've had the car and it was extremely comfortable and trunk space is amazing. The last trip was three adults, 13.5hrs straight with a full trunk and a trip average of 28mpg. Best car I've ever owned It's fun, comfortable, spacious and performs wonderfully.

I would buy the charger if I was younger and had a vehicle for winter but since I have 2 car seats 30yrs old ++, I will probably take a stinger and drive it the whole year. That 392 engine engine and exhaust sound though can never be replaced by that v6 turbo.
sadly they dont offer the hemi with AWD anymore i guess the take rate was so low but they were a beast I have a family member that lives in the mountins in PA that has one.
I drove a 392 Charger through 3 winters, all they need is a snow tire package. The cars are tanks, but do not even attempt to winter drive them on the performance tires - it wont even move on snow covered flat ground.
My cousin drives an escape bc he has a child and is 34. It's no bigger than a sedan. He feels he is old so he has to drive a crossover. I'm 32 and have 5 kids and I drive a 300, challenger, and my wife drives a Durango. If I have to I'd fit us in the chrysler. Long story short please don't let your 30+ determine your vehicle.

I don't have an issues with the size and weight or looks of what Dodge is producing. I also enjoy the color variation I love a a dark purple car or bright green, orange instead of 10 shades of gray. I like certain versions of the Challenger, Charger and Durango. It's the inside that just fails for me, these vehicles are just so long in the tooth and need a complete refresh. Having said all of the above I would ignore it all for a Magnum with the 392. I'd pay way too much for one with a a manual and AWD. I rally enjoy this reviewer, just had to add that.
The 8-speed auto is actually not specific to "Chrysler" or Mopar vehicles. It is the ZF Friedrichshafen 8HP70 transmission which is used in many High end luxury/super cars, such as the Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin DB11, Aston Martin Rapide, BMW Alpina B7, Lamborghini Urus, Rolls Royce Ghost, Maserati GranTurismo, Audi A8, and Jaguar F-TYPE SVR, just to name a few.
Purists will hate me for saying this but I think it would be awesome if Dodge made this available in AWD in their higher trim levels for us in cold weather, and think of the acceleration with that traction!
You seem to be well informed about this car. I own a 5.7 Daytona and I’ve raced a Kia stinger and it didn’t out run me but I didn’t out run it so the stinger is not a competitor to the 392.
The Charger and the Stinger aren't that comparable. The Charger is a true full-size car. The Stinger is barely even a mid-size car, and that's because the Kia has a disproportionately large cargo area for it's small passenger area. Interior room-wise, footprint-wise, the comparison isn't even close, the Charger is just more car.
Good review on a badass car! I prefer the Challenger myself, 392 is the sweet spot. Great courage going it with a Demon, and you beat a lot of cars before it! Good job!
2019 Charger Daytona 392 has lots of updates dash and every thing is leather, lots of black trim. all set pages. mine is basically a hellcat without the supper charger. and in 2019 Daytona is next one down from hellcat with right options
I like the spongey feel of the breaks, ive driven cars whete the "bite" during normal driven feels like it's jerking you around and especially in traffic. I will agree the accelerater is a bit touchy but when you get used to it its good. I found out the hard way when I drove my Hellcat home the first day off the lot and with just a little rain the turn almost turned into a fish tail lol. But that being said it's very controlable even when you purposely slam the gas ;)
The stinger gt and charger 392 are nothing alike, and the stinger gt is about one full second slower through the quarter as well. @edmunds I have a lot of experience with both cars since I’ve work at both Kia and mopar dealerships
I think this is the first professional 392/485 Charger review I've seen, all the rest have been Hellcats or Demons. Now get Carlos to take it to Big Willow for a track workout.
If I needed a V8 four door sedan that was also fun to drive, this would be it. Ford could learn a lot from Dodge, as they have nothing in their vehicle lineup that even compares to this.

Great review. I couldn't agree more about the comfort and ease to life with. That said, as much as I love my 2015 Charger R/T Road & Track I must some day own a 392. Nice reaction time on the first run. Out-paced what looks like an SRT Jeep (which is awd). The Demon wasn't here for games. lol

Lama 67 no I agree, they need a similar system to BMW AWD for the M5. A system that would let you go from AWD and switch it to RWD
the Daytona 392 trim comes with AWD and front-axle disconnect.
