The 2024 Lotus Emira Is A Supercharged Precision Track Weapon With Supercar Vibes

- A brand-new #Lotus sports car doesn't come around very often. After decades of very little changes to the Evora, Elise, and Exige, the company has replaced all three with the brand new #LotusEmira. This mid-engine sports car has the looks to turn heads with handling you'd expect from a Lotus. The 2024 #Emira is the company's final gas powered vehicle before going fully electric in the future. Also, shoutout to Mason from @CarConfections for joining us in this driving scene!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! Be sure to check out the driving scene where we had a chance to show the manual emira and the automatic equipped model back-to-back and huge shoutout to Mason from Car Confections and Sofyan's fiance Keith for coming along for a ride during the driving scene. We're hoping to get our hands on the 2.0L turbo version of the Emira sometime next year but for those of you wanting the performance of the V6... be sure to get the manual. 😀
This was a great one to collaborate on! Thanks for letting us come along and have a great time, especially in the tunnels! 😁
“Clunky” is exactly what that sound was😂
Always great comprehensive reviews from Redline…. Great team!
my 100K is going to my E-ray. If GM stops delaying it.
Car needs at least 500hp…Unpowered makes it overlooked and boring af👎🙄
*I just worked an overnight shift and can barely stay awake, yet I saw you reviewing the Emira and I HAD to click on the video. I LOVE THIS CAR!* 😭
No one cares
@@nunayobiznasssounds like somebody doesn’t work 😂 embarrassing…
@@Peak_Mid I do just not shift work anymore.
@@nunayobiznassGet off your high horse. You’re not any better than the next person.
@fldashxam didn't say I was, but we don't need a stupid story about working a night shift.. dumb comment all around. Like the video and move on dork.
Lotus built the MR2 that Toyota refused to do. The 2GR-FE V6 is legendary in its tuning capabilities, smoothness, and reliability. And the exhaust Lotus has used makes a Camry TRD sound pedestrian. As for the automatic, Lotus is clearly dialing in some durability hesitation. I'm sure that can be tuned out. Toyota's own FWD Camry V6 will roast the tires if hammered from a stop.
I think this is a great evolution of the Evora. And way to go on SAVING THE MANUALS, Lotus.
Even if Toyota eventually releases a new MR2, they'll most likely use the GR Corolla's engine. That engine is a powerhouse, but it doesn't sound as good as this one.
@@damilolaakanni which they shouldn't. Their V6 is a masterpiece and I think they overlook that themselves because they put it in their "regular" cars.
@@thomaschristopherwhite9043 they're moving away from N/A V6 engines. Even the beloved Camry will lose its V6 for 2025.
Lotus also built the first gen NSX 2.0 Honda refused to build with the Evora.
@@damilolaakanniI hate CAFE laws. I hate European emissions laws. I hate the EPA.
Because it’s the reason why Toyota is ditching the V6.
“I thought it doesn’t rain in this state” the subtle shade but I’m living for it 😂
Damn that sounded so good for a v6
Imagine if Toyota used this engine and added AWD in the TRD Camry.
The V6 Exige does sound better and it's quicker. Wasn't sold in the US and sadly no longer made :(
@@BlatentlyFakeNameit was sold for like 2-3 years didn't it? I saw like one or two for sale in the states. Definitely not 25 years yet, so nothing related to that stupid law.
@@2010ngojo Maybe sold for track use only. They were never road legal in the US.
@@BlatentlyFakeName nah, no stipulations about any mode being restricted in that kind of way. No warning on the dash or anything like that in the manual. So no, not restricted to track use only.
Interesting that Hagerty drag raced the Emira against a Camaro, M2 and GR Supra and the Emira beat them all to 60 in 4.1 seconds. It lost out to the M2 eventually but was way quicker off the line. Anyway it's not about 0-60 times, it's a Lotus it's all about how it drives, which is brilliantly. When you combine that with drop dead gorgeous supercar looks for sports car money I think it is one of the best driver's cars, if not THE best driver's car available today.
You buy those cars if you wanna go fast in a straight line and be disconnected from the road. You buy an Emira if you wanna drive and have a connected feeling to the car. It's the best new old car you can buy today. Hydraulic steering, no fake pumped in exhaust sound through the speakers, no fake programmed synthetic riced out burble tune, 6 speed manual, mechanical LSD, RWD, double wishbone suspension that looks way better than a Supra, M2, Camaro, Corvette, Nissan Z.
Also take into consideration that carrying another passenger and camera equipment added at least 200 pound to the light 3200 lb Emira. That hurt the power to weight ration by more than 6%. I have owned over 124 cars including '91Toyota MR2 Turbo, '02 Boxtster S, '16 AMG GT, ''16 Jag F Type R,.'20 Cayman S PDK, '21 C8 Corvette Z51 and '23 Merc SL55. Currently in '24 BMW Z4 M40i. One of my favorite cars at of all of these was the MR2 Turbo in manual. The Emira looks like it would be the best mix of all these cars for beauty, fun factor and value.
M2 ⁉️ As in Toyota M2⁉️ Those still AROUND ⁉️

Best in the business! Appreciate all your videos so much detail and information without overdue and love all the 0-60 times
Can’t go wrong with Toyota engine, least you know is reliable. Nice look too
It almost looks like the auto starts in 2nd gear your right it just crawls off the line. Great vid, you gotta love the backgrounds in Cali what a beautiful state to drive in!!
its a beautiful car. it gets u those super car looks without having to pay as much
Love the car confections collab, also love the laughter and fun you both had while driving. Great Review!!!
1 million incoming!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Most likely my next car. Toyota engine and transmission durability and good looks.
lotus should do well in the ev transition given they have access to all the geely ev tech
Should have used magnetic dampers so ride quality is adjustable. Beautiful ride though.
I’ve seen a lot of your videos and I this one definitely has the most laughs and giggles. Must be a fun car to drive manual.
Thanks for the Great Review, LOVE this care !!! I purchased a used 2015 miata club hard top, BUT this is on my bucket list !! gotta get one before it goes buy bye v6 gas
Was planning on putting a deposit on one but they jacked up the price in an insane amount.
They did the same thing on the Evora years ago, sadly.
yea....from 70k~ to 100k.....kinda ridiculous.
Blame the current financial disaster and Putin for that. Production costs of everything has rocketed due to energy prices.
Let me downshift to 1st at 30 MPH and blame the car and limiter. Yes, it's the car not the driver. 🧐
I love the Roma
My Roma tomatoes did well this year.
Best in the business😀
Fiancé ?! Congratulations Soyfan !!! 🎉💪🏽
Really unique design from lotus!! Love it 🎉🎉🎉
Been watching and liking your videos since 2019. Thanks for doing what you do for us vehicle obsessed people.
Race car vibe!
Styling is spot on 9.9 out of ten!! One of the best looking cars ever made
Question what is the gadget in the middle of the windshield? is it a radar? where are the cords looks pretty cool if it is.
I dont know how yet, but it will be my next car. Nice review too , well done.
Do the rear windows go down?
Thank you Soybean Fey for covering Emira
Great review! OMG these two guys giggling together like high school girl's every time they get on the throttle... having too much fun!
Nice review. Still out of my price range. So glad Lotus upped their game on the interior. On the front. There is nothing under the hood for the consumer. I think there are mechanicals. Though understand the tool kit has a wrench to remove the hood if really want to. I live in So Cal, driving a manual gets old. Curious between the Automatics, which is the way to go - Toyota or AMG engine?
It looks good. Really, really good!!❤️
I totally appreciate and can understand anyone wanting one of these as a 2nd car. I do wish it was slightly quicker and properly the 4 cylinder you could easily be able to tune to be quicker with that AMG engine.
From a look and interior quality, it really does look special, and I'm sure the handling and chassis are amazing!
Porsche, I'm sure, is better in many aspects, but personally, I love the rarity, looks, and heritage more.
Exciting things to come from Lotus, and hopefully, they will bring out a new replacement for the Esprit further down the line.
Great informative video as always, and you really deserve that million subscribers by the end of the year!
My dream car 😍😍
Nice supercar Sofyan.
Sofyan, it looks like you had the seat raised up? Which may be the reason for the cramped feel?
9:42 what happned to the outside view lol did it just glitch? Were you using a multi-lens camera device that decided to switach at that moment?
Looks like a baby 488 and I love it!
My favorite guys in one review. Not with my back. Thanks. Too fun.
The first video I ever saw from you was your review of the Evora years ago. I loved how you were giggling about the performance of that car. I subsequently went to test drive one myself and bought it of the spot (and have been giggling myself). And I’ve become a fan of your channel since. I now want the Emira (I really need to stop watching your videos… 😂)
The price is a bit up there but I love the car itself just not sure if people will go Lotus without the value add.
I have to drive a Lotus, the way you and others have described them, they seem very interesting. I need to recommend The Car Care Nut to review one especially since he's a Master Toyota Technician.
$105k damn wasn't it supposed to be 70k to 80k? What happened?
£70-£80k, $100k+
what happens when you have the wrong ppl in charge destroying the economy
Mini Ferrari 360 anyone? Love it! Best looking Lotus since the Esprit
Thank you for your energetic review. You clearly enjoyed the car a great deal. The lower rev limit is due to bureaucrats and emissions, where legal, a quick chip tune will sort that out, the rev limit sadly not the bureaucrats. Honestly if you are struggling to get in an Emira and only in your thirties I am worried for your health. At 6'3" I can get in (and out) an Elise with little problem I am also closer to 60 than 50. In terms of weight the Lotus fans are not happy! It is heavier than a Cayman!
Tire pressures are drastically under flated. The number one factor effecting vehicle performance are properly inflated tires. Have another drive in the car with correct tire pressures and the handling, vehicle dynamics, performance times, will have all greatly change. Shoddy vehicle prep for a review if you received that vehicle directly from Lotus..
What’s the recommended psi?
@@kmahal711
38psi. Tire psi on display showed 25-27 and those were HOT pressure. Can subtract 4-5 psi for cold recommended pressures. So YES he was driving vehicle with basically flat tires.
This is the kind of car review that makes my day.
I would appreciate the relative rarity of the Lotus over a Porsche.
Lotus did a great job on the design
I would buy the Corvette and save the extra money
If you've never heard of KEF, check out their T-Series ultra thin home theater speaker system. I have one, and it's amazing how crisp it sounds, especially considering the low profile!
BTW, Malibu and Calabasas have some of the best roads (and BEST scenery) around…..period.
If they (Lotus) were doing a giveaway allowing us to build our own spec all paid for by them, I'd be in to play to try and win.
Honestly, if you’re going to be using this as a daily driver, and going on road trips, get the touring suspension, the automatic transmission, with the paddle shifters, and the adaptive cruise etc. it will be more liveable. If you’re going to track it, go for the manual with the sports suspension. I’ve driven both, and if I were buying one, I’d get the auto.
But the linkage window!
That looks good I’d get one
Seems like a great drivers car!
My man you gotta bring those rpm's up for the launch, then drop the clutch. Don't cold launch from zero. Watch the 0-60 time drop to lotus's official time of 4.3. Bring the rpm's up to 50% of redline, then experiment to find sweet spot maybe 60% redline. Launch control or not, bring the rpm's up then drop it.
He can't drive stick well. A good car to have for 1 day.
I might learn more towards a Porsche, but I fault no one for picking this
BEAUTIFUL CAR
I miss the Evora already.
"If you have roughly $100k to spend". "Roughly" is the operative word.
Sure is nice looking.
Is there a 2024 model that is automatic? Or are all models manual?
Future collectors item... will always be highly desirable with those looks and last petrol engine.
I haven't owned a car in 10 years by choice but this maybe my next car. 🔥
I have a manual Evora GT, I do not understand the comments about how bad these cars are as daily drivers. Mine has been a daily driver for +9 months a year for the last 3 years (I park it when snow/salt hits the roads) and I love it. With the Emira having more creature comforts and weighing a bit more I would think it would also be easy to live with. Agreed, not of fan of the auto trans with the v6.
The only thing im switching is all 4 lanes,
leave Knob for thots cuz..
I dnt want it if dnt Glimp, Glimp..
Holla back, Screaming Money ain't a thing.
Torn between lotus emira mt and nissan gtr. My mind says gtr because of space and performance but my heart says emira for spirited driving during weekends.
You mention Lynk for the infotainment. I recently rented a CUV in Europe and it was a pretty nice vehicle from a Chinese car company called Lynk & Co. maybe they’re related?
I love how he's testing the car at the speed limit.
Absolutely magnificent looking super car that make it reliable thanks Toyota!
Hopefully Lotus ironed out all the quality issues by the time they arrive Stateside…they had 2yrs to fix issues like the freezing infotainment screen and window trim/weather strip gap.
I know that looks are subjective.. but to me this Lotus as got to be the best looking car out on the road today. such a good looking car!
I love this vehicle. Unfortunately, I’m too tall for it.
Are you sure? I'm 6' and with the seat all the way back I can barely reach the pedals. Evora was a 2+2 but this one isn't, so there is a lot of room behind the seat.
Anyone getting in line to buy one of these is in for a very long wait. Lotus fans ALREADY have all the allocations locked up for several years.
I’m appalled by the transmission response off the line. I’ve seen camry v6s with way better response
You're appalled. Do we care?
Yes...and he's right
This weighs around the same as the Type R and Type S? That's really impressive for Honda/Acura.
From that exhaust, OMG you wouldn’t tell that this is a V6 sourced from Toyota 😆😆😆😆 it sounds amazing~~
Nice to see donut boys hang out with you
Love this car.
I imagine since you're probably a bit above sea level, that's why you're getting those 0-60 times.
looks amazing, but very, very slow... i shouldnt be able to gap it so much in my 15 years old upgraded turbos bmw 335 n54
Looks very much like a small McLarren
I’m excited to have money and buy one of these used in 10 years 😂 seriously this thing looks awesome
everyone knows those toyota/lexus V6s sound good as hell
I absolutely wish Lotus would also release this as a "kit". They've released a kit before back in the day. The reason why I'd rather have this as a "kit" is because kits aren't held to production car standards. I'd love to have an Emira "TOTALLY base" with little modern junk beyond necessary engine management. No air bags or other crap. Use the weight savings from dumping that junk and you could run just a small "touch" over stock retuned Camery engine with a smile.
Supply just a simple (aesthetically pleasing but little more than) track car dash and interior. Only luxuries necessary are heat, AC, and a small flat place on the dash where one can stick a Garmin GPS and plug it in. It would be nice if a little more luggage room could be conjured up, and a lightweight "comfort focused" passenger seat that could be angled back enough for a "non-car enthusiast" wife to genuinely nap in while traveling up the road.
I hope in the future they do a proper British racing green than this black but is green in the sunlight color. I think overall Lotus knocked this one out of the park. If they could have made a frunk even better.
Why are you calling it a 2024 Emira, when I've already got one 🙂 Great review.
Sofyan, what exactly do you mean "not drivable on the street?" Is it too harsh on the normal road? Is it not a daily driver car? Nice video by the way, keep up the good work!
Yes, the sport suspension is too harsh on the street for us. The Touring spec suspension is definitely more livable but still not as complaint as a Porsche Cayman.
Definitely not a daily car.
If that is the case then I am less interested in this car as of now.
@@713vinh you best bet on a daily is a Porsche 992 or a Cayman S.
I've driven this in both Sport and Tour setups. I'd be perfectly happy driving the sport suspension daily, I don't find it harsh at all. Focused yes, but that's exactly what I want from a Lotus. Lotus is legendary at making a suspension that soaks up the bumps on British B-roads. Check out the Harry's Garage reviews, he covers the difference between sport and tour quite well. Tour just glides over the rough stuff. I disagree that this car isn't a daily, but maybe I'm crazy.
First launch 0-60 was scary. Passed by a popo. Lol😅
Finally, a reviewer that says the Sport suspension is too harsh. I believe Harry spec’d his with the Touring suspension.
I saw every video of Lotus Emira, you guy alway complain about the flip up start button of staying up, for what then you have manually pull it down again, you just flip up and start the engine and it will go down by it itself. I think it better that way.
O and this hole time I was thinking Rob was the finance 😮
Great video!! The 6800 redline really is a buzzkill. I test drove one, wasn't a huge fan of the supercharger whine, but I can live with that with an aftermarket exhaust, but the 6800 redline, like you both noticed, kinda dampens the fun :(
Current RS3 smokes it
I like this car doesn't have a sunroof. The engine sounds good. The trunk has enough room for a pair a backpacks, good enough for the driver and passenger
They literally built what the c7 vette should have been. This body style is way better
He had my attention till the EV comment, good luck with that!
How does this compare to the 911 careers or the Lexus LC 500
LC sounds way better and it’s way nicer inside
@@naveenthemachineAgreed and also looks a lot better in my opinion.
@@naveenthemachineand will get its doors blown off in every way compared to this.
@@kellyoubrejr544I like the lc500 but y’all greatly exaggerate how the car looks. It’s beautiful but it’s not so beautiful that nothing else compares.
@@mogulme6190 You can’t really “exaggerate” an opinion. Nothing really else compares to the looks of it cause nothing else looks like it. Its got it’s own charm that no other car has in my opinion. It’s not just the LC, it can be other cars… But I personally disagree with what you stated cause you can’t really over exaggerate an opinion unless maybe it’s your own. I don’t think many cars compete with it at all because no other car looks so different but in a good way like the LC500. Again though, it’s my opinion. You have your opinion also which I respect.
"High revving" it redlines at 6800. Its a great car for sure but definitely not high revving. A coyote revs to 7500 rpm stock. Great review overall.
So does that mean they are reliable? I’m graduating with a degree in engineering in may and looking for cars that I may consider buying?
