Tbh sensitive skin has become such a relevant topic now that people are more into skincare and experimenting with hyped up products that have been labelled as "holy grail" or a skin care "miracle", only causing them to experience desensitization and a compromised skin barrier (basically my experience lol) Would REALLY love to see a detailed sensitive skin product recommendations video, as most of what's here on youtube are just people showing which products have worked for them (and they're usually just for acne prone skin but NOT sensitive) An overview of the ingredients list and recommendations would be so sooo helpful! 💖

I just experienced some very inflammatory acne on the middle of my face & I've been doing exactly what you suggested even before I watched. I'm just relieved to hear your advice at a time like this. It's very hard to not look at my skin & scream right now cause I'm not used to the sensitivity, the dryness but I'll get through it & I wont touch my face unless it's absolutely necessary! Thank you Liah
Thank you for the video Liao. This is by far the most accurate and comprehensive video/info given on TH-cam. As a sensitive skin person myself, I couldn’t agree more with what you shared. It took me more than 10 years to learn and know my skin as my skin couldn’t agree with many products in the market, especially drug store. My skin can’t even tolerate niacinamide, Vit C, AHA, fragrance etc as my lipid barrier is unbelievably thin (test from machine). For those having this skin issues, my 2 cents is to learn to ‘listen’ to your skin by observing it. This might take months or years to truly learn about your own skin. Take care
I can’t thank you enough for releasing this video. As a person that has been blessed with great skin till the last 2 months where my skin has been incredibly sensitive due to using a mask packed with citrus oil. I was so confused why my skin turned so sensitive and after a lot of research I narrowed it down to citrus oils. On top of that, my normal cleanser which contained SLS, which worked well for me till my skin turned sensitive, started causing reactions. Same case with my facial sunscreen - it contains oxybenzone and again, it was fine till my skin was sensitive and after that I couldn’t use it all and reverted to mineral sunscreens and my skin’s a lot happier. So happy to see the 3 culprits that caused my skin sensitivity listed here, citrus oils, SLS and Oxybenzone. I’m super glad I came across your channel via Annie Jaffrey. Thank you so much from a new subscriber. 😊
This is all what I’ve been looking for and what I’ve been searching for all this time about sensitive skin. All this time all I could find was some tips in one blog, then another tip randomly said in one video, people talking about products and brands but anything about the ingredients (maybe just a commentary randomly said here and there) and why something could cause more redness and sensitivity. Thank you sooooo much for this!
@@gabhandebrun1871 i can only get it online from resellers which is both risky and pricey because they mark up the prices (taxes and for their income) and it's very difficult to make sure that they're really selling products from the US.
I know what u mean. since I live in Australia it's quite difficult for me to get high quality Korean/ US skincare brands like primera, krave beauty, paula's choice, etude etc. But have u seen simple, la Roche posay, avene, the ordinary, the inkey list, laneige, youth to the ppl where u live?
This video is a game changer for me. I live in the US and have always found sunscreens to be irritating. Burning, stinging, red bumps the next day. So I just never wore it! I started ordering Korean sunscreens online-both mineral and physical-and I can wear both! It’s such a relief and my 38 year old skin is looking better than it did 5-7 years ago! 💖
Vit C, AHAs, benzoyl peroxide, dimethicone, silica... lots of things give me what I’m guessing is contact dermatitis. But no one is saying I have to use those. The pressure to wear sunscreen always felt like pressure to damage my skin. I’m finally getting it!
I recently bought the iUNIK Centella Gel Cream because it was highly recommended for those with sensitive skin (which I have). It was stinging my skin in the first use, and by the second use I had pimples and redness around my nose and cheeks. Centella Asiatica works great on my skin, and I can handle tea tree....I was confused. Until you mentioned Bergamot, which is in it. That must be it! Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of info with us. I'm loving getting to know my own skin. :)
I love the glossier milk jelly cleanser! The cleanser is so smooth on the skin and you don't tug your skin when cleansing so no inflammation caused by friction! It's also support hydrating and non stripping! Ik it was a favourite of Liah's in the past!
I feel like I’m a hopeless case because my asian skin is hypersensitive, oily and dehydrated. On top of that I have acne and hyperpigmentation. I have no idea what to do
I had the same problem, so I decided to totally change my skincare routine. These products have helped me: - CeraVe Normal to Oily Skin Cleanser (amazing ingridients such as niacinamide, glycerin, chloesterol, ceramides) - Pyunkyang Yul - Essence Toner - this one is AMAZING when it comes to soothing your skin - The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc Serum (at the very beginning use only a grain size, because your skin is not used to it) - CeraVe moisturizing lotion - And of course an SPF - I'm from Poland and I use the Polish one, so it probably won't be available abroad but look for mineral one - they're the best for sensitive skin. After a month of this routine my skin finally feels so good. I even bought The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner to deal with my breakouts and hyperpigmantation and it doesn't irritate my skin! I highly recommend learning how to read ingridient list and what ingridients to avoid - it saved my skin! I hope these products will help! Good luck!
Could you make a video recommending products for people with sensitive skin or rosacea? After watching this video I've realized that most of the products that I use have sensitizing ingredients. I'm really struggling trying to find products to get rid of acne and to have clearer healthy skin, but it seems that everything makes my skin react with more pimples. Also, I would like to use your products, but I live in Canada so I can't get them. Thanks for all the information that you always share with us!
Can you please make a video where you compare AHA and BHA and recommend products in each category? I've watched many of your videos but I still don't have a good understanding of how AHA and BHA work and what products in these categories are safe, gentle & effective. It doesn't seem like you have talked about this topic much. I would be very interested in learning more about it.
I was introduced to mainstream skincare products in middle school which caused me to break out more so in high school I didn't use skincare products at all. I'm now 25 and have found a gentle gel based cleanser that I Love. It contains natural safe ingredients and has a cooling sensation as opposed to a burning sensation. I also use witch hazel instead of toner. Mineral based suncreen and fragrance free detergent have also been a life saver. I've also disocvered I can't use anything cucumber scented or that contains lanolin however lavender, eucalyptus, and lemongrass don't cause any issues for me.
Got a terrible rash on my forehead after using Cetaphil cleanser for only a few days. If you’re skin is sensitive, I would suggest playing it safe and opting for something else.
Sukin is my all time favorite brand for the basic skincare needs. But if you wanna target a specific skincare need as acne or hyperpigmentation, you’ll have to add other products from other brands. But honestly, this brand is amazing! Not only is the ingredient list amazing, it feels great on the skin too xx
Thank you so much for this video, very informative!! My skin is over sensitive, almost intollerant and the majority of products irritates me (my skin used to literally crack and bleed it was so irritated and red and sore); what saved me is pure organic coconut oil. I use it for cleansing, as a base for a homemade cold cream, when I have skin rashes etc. A blessing! Over the years I learned that the less I do to my skin (and less products I use) the better, sometimes just water is enough. And silicones are my #1 enemy apparently..
I got your beet shield last week and I got your helpful acne ingredients newsletter email today. SO informative and SO helpful! I have it bookmarked to keep for future reference. I am sad to say that the cream skin did not do well with my skin 😭 I wanted to love it so bad, my skin soaked it up! But it broke me out 😭
Hi Liah. I have been using the Krave cleanser since about february, and so far it has worked nicely for my skin, which seems to break out to everything even cleansers. It doesn't leave my skin either hydrated or super dry but I am astonished my skin doesn't break out from it. So that's good.
I love watching your video. I had never care for my skin before , now I take your recommendation and it literally works well on my skin. ❤️🙏🏻 Thank you.
Wow that makes so much sense why my skin gets irritated toward chemical sunscreen in the US and not chemical sunscreens in Europe or Korea/Japan. Well I really don't need to worry too much about finding the perfect chemical sunscreen because I already am using the Beet Shield and am planning to buy another one after it comes in stock and I'm done with my first bottle
well this explains a lot.. I've been using peppermint oil for a diffuser in my room, and for the past week my nose and forehead has been SO itchy and bumpy with pimples like I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. 😔 I really hope my skin will heal on its own...
thank you so much for this video! Would u mind doing one on rosacea in the future? I find it hard to know what to do with my skincare and which products would calm down my rosacea flare ups. Love you!
Man, years ago my friend warned me about lavender oil but I tried looking into it & couldn’t find any studies to prove that, and I had access from my school account... now there’s a bunch! So I didn’t believe her, but I’m glad there’s more info available about it now.
Loving Kate Sommerville Goat Milk cleanser. It is so soothing. When I need a deep cleanse I love Lanierge multi purpose cleanser. Everyone should just get a px for retinol as it is holy grail for every skin type. If someone is sensitive you can moisturize. Nothing shows results like it. Everything else is do what works for you. Skincare that stays on the skin like treatment, moisturizers or sunscreens should be clean. DE marula oil, c-firma framboos (night), b-hydra, c- tango eye cream and their sunscreen are clean and legit just work. Overpriced yes, but the products perform and produce results.
Anni_maa Get ceraVe that’s should be in Germany And Is fragrance free with cerimides to protect and repair the skin barrier and Hyrauluonic acid to hold on to water check out dr.Dray here in yourube she is a dermatologist is a wealth of knowledge and rely recommends cerVe And she is not sponsored by anyone CeraVe is great and very affordable
Wash with non foaming cleaners and use a milky cleaner' avoid cleansing brushes too once a week if you can handle it and a good mask like aloe vera or calendula help.
I found out that my skin barrier has been damaged last year and it's been exactly a year since I started learning skincare ingredients and changed my whole skincare routines. I easily get fungal acne too, it gets triggered from time to time but I can manage it now. @@self_lovecare i control my sugar, oily foods and dairy intake. Try to keep my guts in their best condition through consuming enough fiber, veggies n fruits. Have strong immune system n eat healthier basically, it helps managing my yeast n sebum production naturally. As for skincare, my skin was over sensitive because of intensive acne treatments so i focused on calming them first, healing my skin barrier. Use mild skincare with anti-inflammatory benefit such as centella, niacinamide, panthenol etc. I avoid strong active ingredients like BHA/AHA and retinol. Also hydration is super important
Thanks for this Ms Liah! Now I know why my skin do not accept any citrus or with vitamin c products. I am photosensitive it’s very challenging to choose the right products for me.
Do you feel itchy after exposed to sunlight? I dont know why, but lately my skin is sensitive to sunlight. everytime i exposed to sunlight, my skin becomes itchy and rash formed.
nur aleeya Yes. I am diagnosed with Photosensitivity. Spf is my best friend. I do not go out without sunblock and umbrella. I also keep my skin hydrated I use Physiogel wash and lotion. My toner right now is Avene. It is soo expensive but I have to or else my skin will get angry 😭
BTW, I just finished using your matcha hemp cleanser. Previously when I tried it for the first 3 weeks I didnt feel the magic much. But after using it for 3 months, it reduces my sebum regulation. I just finished the cleanser a week ago and using another cleanser atm (while waiting for my second bottle) and I could feel the oil stuck in my pores. And it gets oilier in the afternoon! I rarely experience this issue throughout my usage of the matcha hemp cleanser. Thanks for producing a realllly good cleanser especially for oily-combo acne prone sensitive skin like me! :3 ANDDDD OOOHHH, JUST RECEIVED MY 2ND BOTTLE OF THE MATCHA HEMP CLEANSER :>
Hi Liah - great job with the product suggestions! I am however skeptical of the farmacy cleansing balm which has micro plastics in it. Any way you can make another video with clean or natural skincare products?
Yedda mulato has sent you the video, but in case, I'll sum it up for you. 1. The Ingredients Active ingredients such as vit. A, vit. C, benzoyl peroxide, chemical exfoliator (AHA, BHA), and physical exfoliator can cause purging, but things like sunscreen, moisturizer, and cleanser shouldn't cause any purging whatsoever. 2. The Place Purging usually takes place in places you usually break out on. If you always break out on your cheeks, then it's usually there too. Break out happens in new places that you didn't usually have break out. If your forehead suddenly breaks out although it never does that, there's a high chance it's break out. 3. The Time Purging is usually done after one month, because the skin is done fixing itself. Break out is never done. If it's been more than a month and it's not clearing up, there's a high chance it's break out. There you go
I definitely regret using jojoba oil. I didn’t break out for 6 days of using it then next day. I have so many pustules and my skin is so inflamed too much red and itchy. Huhuhu.
Yes! Purito has a sunscreen with the good ingredients she mentioned, as well as a cream that have both been getting amazing reviews. But I've never heard of the brand before and am scared to throw cash that way.
I don't really have sensitive skin but ever since I suffered from a skin allergy, I become skeptical of trying new products and only use products for sensitive skin and my is is better than ever!
@@HOTkhunniegirl2 same, but the rash is on my face only, not the whole body. Until now i dont know the cause. But i think it's because of skincare. Did u get the rash after exposing to sunlight? Or just after applying the product?

I had such a severe contact dermatitis from the AmorePacific Vintage Single Extract Essence. It left my skin red, swollen, texturized, burning and dry for over a week! I'm still not sure what the culprit ingredient is. I've never had a reaction like this to a product. I was so upset and disappointed.
I have extremely sensitive skin and I get super irritated when I use mineral sunscreens ! I‘ve been using the purito centella one which is a chemical sunscreen and I really love it so far
I bought a cleanser a few weeks ago while using grapeseed oil and the CeraVe lotion as moisturizer. I had such a bad allergy reaction at the bridge of my nose and my chin, it's going down but the burning I had for a week left me traumatized. I can't put my glasses on because I'm scared it might comeback. But I still don't know what caused it, the oils, the sunscreen, the exfoliation, the cleanser, the sun, the heat.
Do you think the be plain greenful ph balanced cleansing foam would be bad too? I’ve been looking for a moisturizing cleanser for my broken skin barrier, but I just ordered this cleanser before watching this video. I would appreciate your opinion 💗

Yassssss! I would love your perspective on Clinique’s clarifying lotion 1.0 and Clinique’s moisture surge hydrating lotion! I have dry ( not flaky ), mild rosacea, but VERY sensitive skin. I have to be sooooo careful and picky with skincare. I don’t wear makeup anymore cause of it. Now, spf in the USA that I highly recommend for post procedure and very sensitive skin is the eltamd line! Fabulous line! Also, do you plan on making a fragrance free, dry, sensitive, rosacea skincare line?
Uh-woooow. Liah, after watching this video, I realize why AHA never suits my skin! I never have problems with BHA, but everytime I try products with AHA+BHA combo in it, I have breakouts!!! 😭 And I never know that citrus families and tea tree oil are bad for sensitive skin!!! I still have my G9 skin grapefruit cleanser for a half bottle full (doesn't strip off my skin, but something always felt wrong after using this so I use this cleanser just once/twice a week) and my moisturizer is a combo of centella and tea tree (but the moisturizer doesn't come out wrong on my skin, but when I use TBS tea tree oil I find tea tree doesn't do well on my skin phew). Thank you for this video, really!!!! 💙💙💙
Washing my face with water in the mornings is one of the tips I got from you that has made such a difference to my skin. I was worried my skin would get really clogged up and break out but it's actually been more stable. My skin is annoying because it's sensitive and also breakout prone. So many products recced for acne such as tea tree, vitamin c and acids are way too much for my skin. :/ Wish kravebeauty was available in the UK. :(
Totally helped me with infos. I hope you read this, I have this redness(that looks very identical with the one on the thumbnail) on the lower left and lower right of my lower lips, imagine Pikachu's cheeks but under my lips and small. I dom't know exactly how it started but it never went away for almost 4 months now, I feel very conscious and shy about it. At least I have a little idea where to start now.
Sometimes it's not even just ingredients, tap water can have harsh minerals,I try not use everyday, now I just wear sunscreen, but at night I use a hyperalegenic cleanser lotion, and only when I use face mask or chemical exfoliating do I use water. I've stopped using facewash to
Use cerave hydrating cleanser instead. My skin hated cetaphil as well. That cleanser is not gentle at all. Maybe for normal skin it is. But not for an impaired skin barrier.
I thought i had sensitive skin, until i started using tretinoin and my skin barrier got damaged temporary: only then i noticed that products with perfume or certain extracts sting. But i also realised that my skin is definitely not that sensitive. Like i can wear pretty much any chemical sunscreen with no burning or problems.
HI Liah! I was wondering what your thoughts were on black soap? I see online that some people say the ph can be as high as 6-8, but I find it really helps with my acne.
10 out of 10 correct for me!!! 😭😭😭 now i understand why cetaphil didnt work for me before! 😭 every thing you said is correct liah. i have a super super dry and sensitive skin. sometimes when i feel that my face is so so dry i put olive oil for 3-4 nights just to help it recover from dryness. now i also understand why whenever i use foaming facial soap my skin feels tight and i feel that a layer of the skin is stripped off after washing😅😅😭😭 TIP: one product that worked for me is OATMEAL. anything that has oatmeal makes my skin calm :)
I went to a dermatologist 6 months ago and they suggested me to buy their products. Their products help a lot not going to lie, my face is almost clear of dark spots and I rarely have breakouts now a day however like a week ago I noticed my face becoming red, it's the first time that it ever happened. Does this mean I have to drop their products? I hope someone can answer, thanks.
Hello! I love your channel so much! I just have a question about The Beet Shield sunscreen's ingredients. I've been told again and again that alcohol should be completely avoided in skincare because it's so drying, so why do you recommend The Beet Shield in the description for sensitive skin when it has alcohol in the ingredients? Thanks!

I know this video already has some years behind but you mentioned Neroli essential oil for phototoxicity. I've read that the Neroli essential oil is extracted from the blossom of the bitter orange. Does this essential oil present any concerns for phototoxicity? Since it is extracted from a flower and not from a citrus fruit itself.

@@gabhandebrun1871 they are not affordable here, it cost like 1k pesos.
Cannot agree more re: cleansers! Changed to a gentle, low pH cleanser and my skin improved significantly! Thanks to your channel 💖
Which one did you get?
I love the glossier milk jelly cleanser! The cleanser is so smooth on the skin and you don't tug your skin when cleansing so no inflammation caused by friction! It's also support hydrating and non stripping! Ik it was a favourite of Liah's in the past!
Theirs is really hydrating indeed!
I feel like I’m a hopeless case because my asian skin is hypersensitive, oily and dehydrated. On top of that I have acne and hyperpigmentation. I have no idea what to do
Ellen Åkerblad same
Try ordinary that helps to the oily face
You wanna make it simple
gentle cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen and add a treatment for your acne
Try Adapalene (Differin)
I had the same problem, so I decided to totally change my skincare routine. These products have helped me:
- CeraVe Normal to Oily Skin Cleanser (amazing ingridients such as niacinamide, glycerin, chloesterol, ceramides)
- Pyunkyang Yul - Essence Toner - this one is AMAZING when it comes to soothing your skin
- The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc Serum (at the very beginning use only a grain size, because your skin is not used to it)
- CeraVe moisturizing lotion
- And of course an SPF - I'm from Poland and I use the Polish one, so it probably won't be available abroad but look for mineral one - they're the best for sensitive skin.
Good luck!
Check out chizu saeki’s toner mask guys, her method in general actually. Good luck :)
Your editing is becoming better and better. Thanks for the information too💕 You are truly the best, Liah!
Violet Adams it’s really a great team work!! Not mine 🙌🏼 but thanks for noticing
@@LiahYoo OMG, you replied! I am fangirling right now😊💙
I was introduced to mainstream skincare products in middle school which caused me to break out more so in high school I didn't use skincare products at all.
You're my most trusted skincare advisor. Thank you so much, Liah.
could you perhaps review the brand la roche-posay or sukin??
a l i c e I love Sukin and have some la Roche-Posay samples so that would be good
The toleriane line from la roche posay is amazing! And a great sunscreen for sensitive skin is dr g. Green mild up skin
Sukin please!!! 😍
@@Lisse... yea I just got their hydrating cleanser and I've used it once (on my chin) and it doesn't feel irritating!
You're not alone! I also get really irritated with a lot of US chemical sunscreens :/
@@LiahYoo I really hope in the future the FDA can allow updated ingredients so many of us who live in the states can used chemical sunscreens!
Thank you, I have super sensitive skin!❤️❤️❤️
Which means I love Krave beauty!🥰🥰🥰
bless your soul!!!!!
well this explains a lot.. I've been using peppermint oil for a diffuser in my room, and for the past week my nose and forehead has been SO itchy and bumpy with pimples like I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. 😔 I really hope my skin will heal on its own...
I love how informative your videos are explaining both pros and cons of ingredients. It helps to choose. Thank you!
thank you so much for this video!
When will krave beauty be available in Germany? Cause I can‘t buy it here but I want to try it so baaad

Your channel has been helping me so much n i'm happy to know that I've been doing exactly what you said in this video. A long journey but it's worth it. Liah, you're amazing. keep going!
How did you treat Fungal acne?? With sensitive skin

Hi Liah - great job with the product suggestions! I am however skeptical of the farmacy cleansing balm which has micro plastics in it. Any way you can make another video with clean or natural skincare products?

How can I tell if my skin breaking out or purging?
sometimes if youre purging you could break out in areas you don't usually break out i believe.
th-cam.com/video/veiZS0KhuVI/w-d-xo.html
You will only purge with active ingredients (like bha/aha, benzoyl Peroxide, retinol...) and it will come in areas you normally break out
Yedda mulato has sent you the video, but in case, I'll sum it up for you.
1. The Ingredients
Active ingredients such as vit. A, vit. C, benzoyl peroxide, chemical exfoliator (AHA, BHA), and physical exfoliator can cause purging, but things like sunscreen, moisturizer, and cleanser shouldn't cause any purging whatsoever.
2. The Place
Purging usually takes place in places you usually break out on. If you always break out on your cheeks, then it's usually there too. Break out happens in new places that you didn't usually have break out. If your forehead suddenly breaks out although it never does that, there's a high chance it's break out.
3. The Time
Purging is usually done after one month, because the skin is done fixing itself. Break out is never done. If it's been more than a month and it's not clearing up, there's a high chance it's break out.
There you go
Hey see lab muffin Michelle video.she has a video on it
Fragrance & essential oils really destroyed my skin... lesson learned!!!
Yes sis spread the word
I definitely regret using jojoba oil. I didn’t break out for 6 days of using it then next day. I have so many pustules and my skin is so inflamed too much red and itchy. Huhuhu.

I don't really have sensitive skin but ever since I suffered from a skin allergy, I become skeptical of trying new products and only use products for sensitive skin and my is is better than ever!
Do you mean skin allergy is itchiness and red rash? I have been experienced it too, especially when i exposed to sunlight.

Very good, informative and professional movie. I love watching you and knowing more and more about the skin!
I tried the cetaphil gentle cleanser and it actually burned my skin where I have rosacea! So I guess I just can't tolerate any SLS.
Same, so did the Cerave everyone raves about, my face was on fire!
Ginger Badjie you too!!! Omg, my face HATES the cerave moisturizer.
Princess Mallow you’re not alone. I don’t care for that cleanser. I use it to shave my legs with.🤣
you can use the rest of the product as a body wash instead i guess ha!
Use cerave hydrating cleanser instead. My skin hated cetaphil as well. That cleanser is not gentle at all. Maybe for normal skin it is. But not for an impaired skin barrier.
The last part is adorable 😂😍😘
I thought i had sensitive skin, until i started using tretinoin and my skin barrier got damaged temporary: only then i noticed that products with perfume or certain extracts sting. But i also realised that my skin is definitely not that sensitive. Like i can wear pretty much any chemical sunscreen with no burning or problems.
My sunscreen was literally stinging my skin just this morning. So getting to that part of the video made me feel less insane.
You are so pretty 🥺❤️❤️
HI Liah! I was wondering what your thoughts were on black soap? I see online that some people say the ph can be as high as 6-8, but I find it really helps with my acne.

10 out of 10 correct for me!!! 😭😭😭 now i understand why cetaphil didnt work for me before! 😭 every thing you said is correct liah. i have a super super dry and sensitive skin. sometimes when i feel that my face is so so dry i put olive oil for 3-4 nights just to help it recover from dryness. now i also understand why whenever i use foaming facial soap my skin feels tight and i feel that a layer of the skin is stripped off after washing😅😅😭😭

What do you think if we use Apple cider vinegar to our skin as a toner when our skin is sensitive and has a fungal acne?
I know this video already has some years behind but you mentioned Neroli essential oil for phototoxicity. I've read that the Neroli essential oil is extracted from the blossom of the bitter orange. Does this essential oil present any concerns for phototoxicity? Since it is extracted from a flower and not from a citrus fruit itself.
