From Japan They started off with this song at huge American festivals like Aftershock and Lollapalooza. It was vocalist Saiki's idea. We look like cute maids, but we're a real rock band, look at my instrumental team. The members have remained the same for 11 years, and they continue to perform wonderfully and create wonderful songs.

They do definitely have a proggy side to them, but also alternative, punk, balladic, funky, and just straight up hard rock! There's a fun little number called Hate that they did at Yokohama arena that shows off a lot of skils -- might want to check that one out.

I believe so did many of American audience in their 2022 & 2023 US tours. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄

Yes, difficult to play. They played this live on every stop of their 2022 U.S. tour except one when Kanami was too exhausted to play it. There's heartbreaking video footage of her collapsing backstage during a break. Of course, the audience didn't know this and she came out later and completed the set with a smile.

The reason BAND-MAID's Rhuthm Section is so tight is that Akane (drums) and MISA (bass) have known each other since the Tokyo School of Music. Even after graduation they had done projects together before BAND-MAID. Kanami (lead guitar) had also worked with Akane before. So, when Miku (rhythm guitar) asked if she knew a good bassist she called on MISA once again.

That caesura (pause) at the beginning gets the same reaction every time. Kanami did the singing with her PRS guitar. You two have only just started what could be an epic journey with Band-Maid.
Thanks for taking a listen to this song. MISA, Akane, and Kanami are all great instrumentalists and Miku is a solid rhythm guitarist that compliments her bandmates wonderfully. For future BAND-MAID videos, I recommend the *live* version of "Real Existence." It's heavy, it's intense, it's fun, and it'll be a good way to welcome back Saiki because she owns that performance. My other suggestion is to never say "slappin' da bass" again, please. I know it's from a movie, it's a cliche, blah blah, but as a bass player for most of my life, it's the last thing I ever want to hear from anyone. It's not just me, either. There's a bass player on here named Charles Berthoud, wildly talented guy, and in his video "10 BEST and WORST things about playing BASS," hearing "slappadabass" is what he calls "the absolute worst thing about playing bass" and he's absolutely correct. I'd rather explain to the thousandth person that Seinfeld's bumper music was played on a keyboard, not a bass.

You should check out some of their other instrumentals. There is an OLV for Onset, and there is audio of Don't Be Long and Without Holding Back. They have also done some imstrumental only versions of their songs that have lyrics. Giovanni is a good one of those.

Hate is the new Domination, just a kick butt song that shows off their talents. But fair enough, I always think Dice is one of their best songs to hear early on.

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Thanks for taking a listen to this song. MISA, Akane, and Kanami are all great instrumentalists and Miku is a solid rhythm guitarist that compliments her bandmates wonderfully. For future BAND-MAID videos, I recommend the *live* version of "Real Existence." It's heavy, it's intense, it's fun, and it'll be a good way to welcome back Saiki because she owns that performance.
My other suggestion is to never say "slappin' da bass" again, please. I know it's from a movie, it's a cliche, blah blah, but as a bass player for most of my life, it's the last thing I ever want to hear from anyone. It's not just me, either. There's a bass player on here named Charles Berthoud, wildly talented guy, and in his video "10 BEST and WORST things about playing BASS," hearing "slappadabass" is what he calls "the absolute worst thing about playing bass" and he's absolutely correct. I'd rather explain to the thousandth person that Seinfeld's bumper music was played on a keyboard, not a bass.

You should check out some of their other instrumentals. There is an OLV for Onset, and there is audio of Don't Be Long and Without Holding Back. They have also done some imstrumental only versions of their songs that have lyrics. Giovanni is a good one of those.
