Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
Imagine being the boy who is addressed this way... I guess that guy Saiki was addressing has probably turned the colour of a corpse upon hearing it. And then died out, with no one caring about it.
30 seconds into this song when you pause it describe how you love bass and this particular bassist is killing it... I just kick my feet up and wait for the breakdown. You arne't the first person to fall in love with Misa (the barefoot assassin (she doesn't wear shoes at shows so she can feel the music better, and her maid outfit is all black and has been through several iterations, they jokingly referred to it as an 'assassin maid' outfit and thus the names have stuck)) Welcome to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo of course) This is a band that's been around for a decade and is prolific in their song output. They vary their style quite a bit from song to song, they aren't afraid to try new things, they mix in various genre's from pop, to punk, to metal, to blues, to traditional japanese instruments... and everything they write is good. They just don't make bad music. It's a band that will reward you for relistening to it over and over. I constantly pick up new things because their songs are so fscking dense that it is impossible to hear everything the first or even 5th time through, but despite how dense the songs can be they still maintain the catchy ear worm-ness you need to fall in love with a song. It breaks my brain to try and figure out how they pull it off over and over and over again. If you liked this there are so many places to go. You can hear one of their instrumental tracks "From Now On". I like some of their more recent videos that are fun "Warning" and "Shambles" Or if you want more Bass highlight songs "No God" and "Don't You Tell ME" are good bets.
I love how the facial expressions progress as a new Maidiac is born! And that Band-Maid smile! Welcome! I stood 10ft away from MISA in Seattle in 2022…. I underwent… feelings… I totally understand your reaction to her… music!
They are not your average rock band .. If this group of friends decide to do something it will be something very well thought out and very very special Great reaction ty
MISA, the bassist, didn’t like her maid outfit and switched to a black dress, the other girls jokingly called it an assassin maid outfit. She often plays barefoot, so she can feel the drums, so her nickname is “the barefoot assassin”.
MIKU thought here voice "lacked potency" she says "I want more coolness" so she went looking for another singer to do twin vocals. MIKU found SAIKI who was singing on her own. MIKU's manager said that if MIKU told SAIKI the truth about the maid outfits SAIKI would probably not join. So MIKU tricked SAIKI into joining the band. SAIKI says "they told me there were 5 girl members and made me listen to the songs. She remained silent about the maid outfits or there being a pigeon. Then MIKU told SAIKI about the maid uniforms. Before that, they only told SAIKI they were making the costumes, and asked her she didn't like frilly things right? SAIKI said yes, I won't wear anything frilly. And she got "we can adjust it for you in the future, so it's ok." So SAIKI got a sense of discomfort because it felt like things were being kept from her. Then they sprang the maid costumes on her the day before the live. She's omg noooooo, it's frilly.... The costumes at the start were uniform for all of them. (like in the video THRILL - Note SAIKI is not wearing the apron) SAIKI threw the apron saying she's not wearing that. But they already cut off her escape route (forced her to do the 1st live because it was decided already). But SAIKI had a lot of fun after that 1st live. But she still hated the frilly stuff. Note the apron being thrown around by SAIKI in this video - th-cam.com/video/tQPIvADL42k/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the reaction and comments. A huge shoutout to Roger for spreading the good word. These ladies are FIRE!!!!! Arguably the best live rock band on the planet, exuding pure joy and energy, their stage presence is at a level most other bands only dream about. Check out From Now On (MV) if you have any lingering doubts about their musicianship. You won't regret it. Cheers!
I loved her bass playing when I first heard her. But when I saw them live, I got to stand about six feet away from Misa. She's so much more busier on the bass than what I thought I heard, and it doesn't mess up the music. It's a perfect combination of rhythm and melody. Also seeing her that close up I was also stunned at how gorgeous she was. 😻
Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).
MISA the bassist is a Rock Goddess whose presence is usually invoked by offerings of whisky or beer (actually, best make that whisky AND beer) and chanting "MISA, MISA, MISA". Akane, the Rock Goddess drummer, often gets overlooked in their two call-and-response pieces (the other one is in the song DON'T YOU TELL ME, which is on their YT channel from this same concert) but when you watch this MV again (and we know you will), listen to her non-stop precision drumming during MISA and Kanami's 'duel'.

@@jackmeri Mmmm... Album reviews? What do you think? Although I saw you very very much focused on the lyrics. Then you should probably focus on the official MVs with lyrics. There are also non-official videos with lyrics. One of my favourites is their early song FREEZER. It's not on TH-cam, it's in someone's blog, but I think it's easy to find. The music is very good, and the lyrics are heart-rending. Also, it features a very interesting dual vocals between Miku and Saiki, where they sing each a couple of words in turns. It explodes my mind each time when I hear it. It's top vocal skills, no doubt. And they were 20 at the time.
@@jackmeri I'll post the link, but TH-cam will probably block it... japaneseonestoplyrics.blogspot.com/2017/11/band-maid-freezer-lyrics-and-translation.html
Any Maids track always ROCKS!!! The ladies are in their early 30s now and have been rocking for 10 years with plenty of Solo work from Misa, Kanami and Akane. The great thing is they always look so happy. Try Thrill the track that blew them up on the world stage, after a slow start it suddenly went viral outside of Japan (the label was about let them go when this happened in 2015), Freedom, Onset, From now on, Without Holding Back, Hate? Are all great tracks and they have an extensive back catalogue. Welcome Masters and Princesses to the 5 Band-Maid members: SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. The youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock front women... or front men! MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku), "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals and lyricist. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon. Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. She couldn’t play when she formed the band and was tutored by Kanami. KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more! AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa), "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA!
Welcome to the Band Maid family ❤ That was fun! This song is not my favourite but there is no bad song of the maids 😅 As far as I know the lyrics are written by Saiki about her friends husband after a divorce (or something like that) To loosely quote another Maidiac 😅 🎸 Bass solos by Misa are more likely to happen than not. 🥃 🎸 Guitar solos by Kanami are short and crisp 🥁 Akane on drums is 'a beast' 🦍🍌 🕊 Don't underestimate Miku Kobato: She is the founder of the band, bundle of energy, Maid Cafe magician 🪄, is invaluable as a second vocalist and also has a small solo project of her own (Cluppo) 🎙And there is Saiki: She was the Ice Queen but the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed 🤣 🎶 More hooks, riffs and motifs in a song than most bands have on a full album. 💃Their LIVE videos are mostly superior to the official studio MVs, but the MVs are also excellent! 🎵 Many songs have catchy phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well. 🥳 They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-) But if you want to start at the beginning of their career (2013-2017) then go with Thrill (MV, their first video), Real Existence (second video), Alone (MV, first own composition), Freedom(best LIVE performance), Choose Me, Play (LIVE!), ... 👉 I have a next song for you in my mind: Play(Live) would be a good suggestion. And as always many other songs come into mind: "From now on" (MV) for example. But as many Maidiacs would say: Pick any song from their huge portfolio: No song will disappoint! 😍 Some other band recommendations? Then try "The Sixsters" from Ukraine (Pick any song) Have fun... Po
I totally agree with you, this song doesn't make it into my top 25, even though this is a great performance. I think it's a bit of a shame that this song is now often requested as an introduction for reactors to Band-Maid because it's an uncharacteristic song for them.
@@chrisegbertky Ah, you were the original author 😇 I found your comment and liked that wonderful summary of what makes Band Maid so special and copied them to my text book 😆 .... but didn't note the author😅🥰
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. Isn't it amazing how they can take a song of pure hatred and make it sound positive and up lifting? Dive on in to their fantastic portfolio. It is deep and diverse. Only 120+ songs to go...so buckle up and enjoy the ride. PO!🕊 WORLD DOMINATION!🤘😆🤘
Band Maid will rock your world --------- Yeah, they are tight -11 years together and world class musicianship. Keep checking them out and they will make your world a little bit better!!!
10 years and 120+ songs of pure greatness ❤️ They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent.. Imo best band in this planet. Magical band, amazing musicians. Lovin’ Band-Maid ❤️ Thank you for reaction 🤘🇫🇮
Pauze.... From a maisiac, never ever pauze during a solo or a battle of the strings. Ok, now the good part: welcome on board, glad you enjoyed and so much more to dive in to. Be fast, this summer new album so... don't fall behind. Keep rocking
Saiki the lead vocalist wrote the lyrics for this one, she was seriously pissed off with someone apparently. 97/100 Miku the rythm guitarist writes the lyrics which tend to be positive and uplifting.
Great reaction! This band is such an entertainer. I agree that they have brought back the guitar and bass battle to the rock scene recently and the other bands from Japan seem to be doing the same. Absolutely phenomenal rock band.
Welcome to the fandom! I suggest these BM songs: Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, No God (live) & Puzzle (live) I'd also suggest The Warning. They're another all female rock band from Mexico I suggest these TW songs: Money, Sick, Automatic Sun, Enter Sandman (official video with Alessia Cara), Evolve (live VMAs) & Dust To Dust (live Teatro) I'm going to Japan (from oHIo) to see both of them play together in Tokyo (& visit for 9 days) next week! *can't wait*
Eh, why stop with a single listen? It'll take 4-5x just to realize what has now happened to you. You've opened a fresh can of Band Maid you may NEVER be the same again. 👍
Welcome, Jack. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 200 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! @@eatsmylifeYT I'm also quite surprised each time I hear it. Immediately I have all the examples of anime openings rotating in my mind. Does it remind us of Maximum the Hormone in the Death Note opening? Does it remind us of Magia by Kalafina in Madoka Magica? MINMI in Samurai Champlu? I am quickly lost. Well, it may remind us of Different by BAND-MAID in Log Horizon, I agree. Or of Sense by BAND-MAID in Platinum End. So, yes, it may legitimately remind people of anime, that's for sure.
Anime is not a musical genre. Therefore it can't really be defined as a reference, whereas Rock is a genre and that's what they do with lot of other genres sprinkled in to make it BAND-MAID
@@VladimirChupin You have a point, but those two examples don't define Band Maid's sound, or any other Japanese band's sound. I would even say that Babymetal doesn't sound very much like anime.
Misa stole my heart the first time I heard her growling bass, it was in 2020 during lockdown and Band Maid came into my life. They are all so humble and talented, they recently celebrated their ten year anniversary so they must be doing something right po!
Lately I've been listening to - When I'm in the mood for power metal or speed metal - LOVEBITES - When I want to headbang - NEMOPHILA - When I want to listen to hard rock (but not only) - Band Made - When I want different stimulation - 花冷え。. I would like to explore foreign bands, but I don't have enough time to do so, which is a great difficulty.
By Chance was this recommended? Yes. Who recommended it? Guess who. 🤦🏻 Welcome to Band Maid! You seemed overwhelmed with sound at first, which isn’t surprising. This particular song is one of their chaotic, dense ones. I’m recommending a less chaotic, more melodic composition that might grab you quicker: “Play,” official live version. Enjoy ❤
Welcome to the BandMaid experience! The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts: •Bass solos are more likely to happen than not. There's a bass solo on their very first video! •Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be •Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen. •Genre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre! •You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that. •April Fools Day 2019 As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect. MV is stunningly beautiful. •The linchpin member of the band gets the least notice/praise. The Mighty Miku Kobato founder/lead singer steps back to make way for a new more hard rock vocalist. They want her to hold a guitar so she does and learns to play on the fly, performing all the while she's learning. So the person who willed the band into existence, who is the primary lyricist, the only member who sings and plays an instrument most of the time gets the least comments from reactors. Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yrs) •There is no "I" in BANDMAID. Well ok there is one "I" but my point is the songs are written by BandMaid. Not just Kanami Tono. The highly innovative bass and drum lines are created by Akane and MISA. There are no George songs and John&Paul songs. There are only BandMaid songs. •10 plus years with the same line up. Think about that. •More hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole. •Use of puns, wordplay using homophones between Japanese and English are not the exception. They are typical of Kobato's lyrics. •Despite the fact that their LIVE videos are superior to the official studio MV"s the latter are excellent. Funny, graphic, innovative and stunningly beautiful works of art describe what you get with BandMaid's official MV's. •As close to the Beatles in terms of unique persona of the members as any group since the Monkees. MISA is quiet and drinks. Akane is happy and eats, Miku is klutzy and CUTE, Kanami is an airhead who crushes on Saiki and Saiki was the Ice Queen. But the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed. See Yokohama's Endless Story! Their image is carefully crafted or spontaneous or both. •Many songs have catch phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well. •They're having a ball. They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. •Make no mistake, this is not a regular band.
Misa is one of the greatest bassists to ever live. Band-Maid features the bass. The bass guitar is prominent in most Japanese bands. Lead guitarist Kanami composes all the music and is very prolific. And the drummer Akane is phenomenal.
HI, Good reaction to our Favorite Hard Rocking Band of Maids, regarding your question if the Lyrics took a change? Some people get that mis interpretation, but to answer your Question, NO, She is still talking about the same persons that its the reason for this song, some others have already mentioned who is this song dedicated to, Principally to Saiki (lead vocals) friend's husband who cheated on her friend, and secondly dedicated to all cheating husbands. Lesson learned: Don't piss Saiki off! or your hear it from her
I enjoyed your reaction. You haveva good ear. Unless it is a ballad or slower song, I don't pay attention to the lyrics first few listens. Too much to process
Thanks so much nice reaction! They usually have this speed, That's probably why people mistake it for mistake it for an anime song. I recommend the song Manners to you. I hope you`ll enjoy it. Good luck!
Hello...I would highly suggest that when listening to BM that your first listen....don't worry about the lyrics. These are top quality. musicians with very sophisticated written songs. Enjoy the performance and then go back and focus on the lyrics. Otherwise is is easy to overlook just how good these young ladies are at their craft !!!!
If you love bass and since your already in Japan, go ahead and check out BabyMetal - Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (don't let the name fool you, they sell out arenas, Kami band is front and center, invite only arena, Ozzy played at this arena back in the day, nightmare ballad, more on the heavy side, perhaps the best bass player on the eastern hemisphere).

JACKMERI: Thanks for reviewing our MAIDS! There’s lots more bad ass BAND-MAID rock and roll to explore. Their talent will blow you away! I suggest you just ignore the lyrics at first and focus on the musicianship until you are familiar with the song. More BAND-MAID please!
"The Bass player is killing it." They don't call MISA the barefoot assassin for nothing. The lyrics were written by lead singer Saiki in response to men who used Covid lockdowns as an excuse to cheat on their partners, specifically the husband of a friend of hers. The moral of the story? Do not piss off Saiki.
I remember someone published a "Kamasutra for Lockdown" during COVID. Which poses to take when you have to observe the safe distance between you and your sexual partner. Also, I heard that the prostitutes added a condition to their offers, that a man calling them must have a penis not shorter than 1.5 meters. So, starting a side affair at the time was also an affront against society. People are strictly limiting their personal communications, and you go and spread the disease. Unforgivable. Hence all the harsh words. Probably.
Their lyrics are usually very positive but Saiki had something she had to let go with some hate on this one - it's about a close friend of hers that was cheated on by her husband/boyfriend during covid, or something like that.
HATE? was #27 of a 33 song set list at this concert with 18K attending! Every song that BAND MAID has done is precisely as you described it! There are no bad BAND MAID songs. Think about the outfits as if they're a MAID-CAFE: Hostess - Saiki - Spanish Suit - singer 1A Waitstaff - Miku - French Maid - singer 1B - rhythm guitar Waitstaff - Kanami - French Maid - lead guitar Barkeep - Misa - Ninja Maid - bass Chef - Akane - Pageboy Maid - drums Please note that it's been pointed out that Akane loves to eat and Misa loves to drink so there will be no food or booze left at this particular restaurant.
I recommend you listen without reading the lyrics. Saiki’s melody and prominence in the music is important. Also, never interrupt solos in BAND-MAID songs! Shut up when Kanami is speaking!
f you like anime BAND-MAID do get commissions to do anime theme songs. They did 'Glory' for Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS as well as the season two closer for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura. They also have a song called 'Unleash' in which they appear in anime form.
Saiki (lead V) wrote the lyrics from a 4th person prospective (Cheater, Victim, Mistress, Saiki). It appears Saiki is a "The Simpsons" fan, and wanted to use Bart's "I Hate you" phrase in a song, and here we have it, Po! Down the Pigeon hole we go, Po! 🦍🍌
Oh … did you say you like bass? Misa is one of the best bassists in the world and the band knows it. She is featured virtually every song. She plays with her fingers, a pick and slap and pop. SOMETIMES IN THE SAME SONG!! AND She and the drummer Akane ARE THE BEST rhythm section on the planet hands down. And here come the Band Maid fans to flood the comments. They are sweetest, kindest most loyal fans on earth!!!
The bassist, Misa: "You don't know her...but you will."
Everybody pauses at "limp gymnastics," but the next line being a chorus of vocals singing, "nothing much to it," is really the cherry on top.
It's the twist of the knife all right, to really make the poor bugger's kidney pop...
Imagine being the boy who is addressed this way...
I guess that guy Saiki was addressing has probably turned the colour of a corpse upon hearing it. And then died out, with no one caring about it.
@@VladimirChupin 😁
They never overpower each other. Comes from the mutual respect and friendship they have with each other
30 seconds into this song when you pause it describe how you love bass and this particular bassist is killing it... I just kick my feet up and wait for the breakdown. You arne't the first person to fall in love with Misa (the barefoot assassin (she doesn't wear shoes at shows so she can feel the music better, and her maid outfit is all black and has been through several iterations, they jokingly referred to it as an 'assassin maid' outfit and thus the names have stuck))
Welcome to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo of course)
This is a band that's been around for a decade and is prolific in their song output.
EXACTLY!!
Brain broken so many times ive lost count.
I love how the facial expressions progress as a new Maidiac is born! And that Band-Maid smile!
Welcome!
I stood 10ft away from MISA in Seattle in 2022…. I underwent… feelings… I totally understand your reaction to her… music!
They are not your average rock band .. If this group of friends decide to do something it will be something very well thought out and very very special
Great reaction ty
Thank you
Listen this comment NAILS IT! in a nutshell. That is what BandMaid wants to do and they have the facility to do it.
@@chrisegbertky They are verily equal to their purpose.
Yeah well i'm in love with the lead guitarist & you paused during her solo. That's fighting talk that is, put 'em up.🤣
Mincho thanks you for your chivalry. 🦁

@@GaryHolloway-810 Yes sir, we sure do! 😁
(like in the video THRILL - Note SAIKI is not wearing the apron)
SAIKI threw the apron saying she's not wearing that.
Cheers!

@@bandmaidfanATL
The very, very long line.
MISA MISA MISA!!!
and again
MISA MISA MISA!!!
Hey Jackmeri,
welcome to the world of Band-Maid !
Glad to have you on this journey.
There is much more to discover not only basswise
If it wasn't a word then it definitely is now.
Congratulations on hearing your favorite band for the first time.
Want to hear more? Just pick any song. They really shine live, but don't skip their MV's.

Very cool reaction from you, you noticed a LOT of details. Thanks! I hope you decide to check out more of them.
Rock on, Jack!
Welcome Masters and Princesses to the 5 Band-Maid members:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.
MISA!
"Suggested by Roger Chance" has become the calling card of new Band Maid reactors...lol. Welcome aboard Jack.
Welcome to the Band Maid family ❤ That was fun!
This song is not my favourite but there is no bad song of the maids 😅 As far as I know the lyrics are written by Saiki about her friends husband after a divorce (or something like that)
To loosely quote another Maidiac 😅
🎸 Bass solos by Misa are more likely to happen than not. 🥃
🎸 Guitar solos by Kanami are short and crisp
🥁 Akane on drums is 'a beast' 🦍🍌
🕊 Don't underestimate Miku Kobato: She is the founder of the band, bundle of energy, Maid Cafe magician 🪄, is invaluable as a second vocalist and also has a small solo project of her own (Cluppo)
🎙And there is Saiki: She was the Ice Queen but the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed 🤣
🎶 More hooks, riffs and motifs in a song than most bands have on a full album.
And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-)
But if you want to start at the beginning of their career (2013-2017) then go with Thrill (MV, their first video), Real Existence (second video), Alone (MV, first own composition), Freedom(best LIVE performance), Choose Me, Play (LIVE!), ...
👉 I have a next song for you in my mind: Play(Live) would be a good suggestion. And as always many other songs come into mind: "From now on" (MV) for example. But as many Maidiacs would say: Pick any song from their huge portfolio: No song will disappoint! 😍
Some other band recommendations? Then try "The Sixsters" from Ukraine (Pick any song)
Have fun... Po
I totally agree with you, this song doesn't make it into my top 25, even though this is a great performance. I think it's a bit of a shame that this song is now often requested as an introduction for reactors to Band-Maid because it's an uncharacteristic song for them.

But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.

The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
I really hate (?) it when reactors say they're reminded of anime whenever they hear a Japanese band.
It is annoying but they have no other frame of reference if they are new to Japanese bands.
@@Lord_Heron Maybe, but the music in anime sound very different.
Welcome to *Band Maid!*
Maidiacs incoming 😂🤯
MISA MISA is your bassist
🕊🕊🕊
Lately I've been listening to - When I'm in the mood for power metal or speed metal - LOVEBITES - When I want to headbang - NEMOPHILA - When I want to listen to hard rock (but not only) - Band Made - When I want different stimulation - 花冷え。. I would like to explore foreign bands, but I don't have enough time to do so, which is a great difficulty.
MISA on bass and Kanami on lead guitar sing with their instruments. Many conversations on stage between these two…
By Chance was this recommended?
Yes.
Who recommended it?
Guess who.
🤦🏻
Welcome to Band Maid! You seemed overwhelmed with sound at first, which isn’t surprising. This particular song is one of their chaotic, dense ones. I’m recommending a less chaotic, more melodic composition that might grab you quicker: “Play,” official live version. Enjoy ❤
You have a long journey ahead of you down the pigeon hole. Screw the anime comparison brother. This is just a straight up hard Rock song.
MORE BAND MAID!!! Great reaction and that you again Roger Chance 👍
I love watching folx discover Band Maid!
Taylor Swift: I write the best breakup songs! Band-Maid: Hold our beer, and don't drink it either.
MISA - "Hold my beer, if you drink it I'll kick your ass!" - Loved this comment!
Welcome to the BandMaid experience! The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts:
•Bass solos are more likely to happen than not. There's a bass solo on their very first video!
•Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be
•Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen.
•Genre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre!
•You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that.
•April Fools Day 2019
As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect.
Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yrs)
•There is no "I" in BANDMAID.
Nicely put, if I could I'd suggest they put this on their home page.
Aw shucks! Very kind of you!@markyg236
Only 100+ more songs to go ...
Welcome to the Pigeonhole and good work as always Rodger .
If you are falling in love with the bassist, you will have to stand in a long queue.
I will admire her from a distance as I am taken.
Misa is one of the greatest bassists to ever live. Band-Maid features the bass. The bass guitar is prominent in most Japanese bands. Lead guitarist Kanami composes all the music and is very prolific. And the drummer Akane is phenomenal.
The Barefoot Assassin claims another victim!!
I think they found some long lost lyrics to You're So Vain. Or at least, they were in Carly's head.
fun reaction! Shock and awe face all the way through, and BandMaid deserves it!
I am very happy you enjoyed my reaction.
Agreed
We’re all in love with MISA.
Thanks so much nice reaction! They usually have this speed,
That's probably why people mistake it for mistake it for an anime song.
I recommend the song Manners to you.
I hope you`ll enjoy it. Good luck!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band Maid❤
Welcome home!
Brother you just got introduced to the best band on the planet.
She is pissed at an unfaithful dude and she is letting him have it
If you love bass and since your already in Japan, go ahead and check out
BabyMetal - Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (don't let the name fool you, they sell out arenas, Kami band is front and center, invite only arena, Ozzy played at this arena back in the day, nightmare ballad, more on the heavy side, perhaps the best bass player on the eastern hemisphere).
👋 from the UK 🇬🇧 something you might like to check out the band is called Nightwish it's a symphonic metal band from Finland with a Dutch singer floor jansen ( the vakyrie) This band has a massive following in Europe and the Internet the go to song to start your Nightwish journey is
Nightwish ghost love score wacken open air concert 2013 official music video
And prepare for the Nightwish army arriving at the door 🚪 lol 😊
MISA, the barefoot assassin on bass
Band Maid take no Prisoners.
Never thought my favorite Rock band would be 5 Japanese women dressed as maids. But here we are.
Welcome home. 😁
Welcome Home 🤙, thanks 4 reaction
JACKMERI: Thanks for reviewing our MAIDS! There’s lots more bad ass BAND-MAID rock and roll to explore. Their talent will blow you away!
I suggest you just ignore the lyrics at first and focus on the musicianship until you are familiar with the song.
More BAND-MAID please!
Good honest reaction, well done mate.
Thank you
They're real deal. 🥰🤘
Best rock band on the planet.
If you love Misa, the bassist, at NO GOD live and watch her really take off.
Congratulations you just found the best band on the planet 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🎎🤘🎎
Band Maid is as much a team as a band.
MISA the barefoot assassin on bass
HATE? was #27 of a 33 song set list at this concert with 18K attending! Every song that BAND MAID has done is precisely as you described it! There are no bad BAND MAID songs.
Think about the outfits as if they're a MAID-CAFE:
Hostess - Saiki - Spanish Suit - singer 1A
Waitstaff - Miku - French Maid - singer 1B - rhythm guitar
Waitstaff - Kanami - French Maid - lead guitar
Barkeep - Misa - Ninja Maid - bass
Chef - Akane - Pageboy Maid - drums
Please note that it's been pointed out that Akane loves to eat and Misa loves to drink so there will be no food or booze left at this particular restaurant.
On base we have misa the bare foot assassin
Skip the subtitles the first time. Just enjoy.
大切な事だよね! 大切なバンド仲間は 心が通じ合いながら新しい音楽が出来るんだね~と 思いましたよ~と。
We all know that look when we see it.It's down the pigeon hole for you po!
I recommend you listen without reading the lyrics. Saiki’s melody and prominence in the music is important. Also, never interrupt solos in BAND-MAID songs! Shut up when Kanami is speaking!
That is very good advice
You have two choice join or JOIN PO!
f you like anime BAND-MAID do get commissions to do anime theme songs.
Anime not. That said they have recent songs for animes, but only because theybecoming more popular in Japan.
The question mark in the title is a kind of pun. The Japanese word that sounds like the English word “hate” means “what?” or “huh?”
That is hilarious
She is singing of a husband to a friend of hers. A husband who cheated on her friend.
Maidiacs and The Warning Army unite!
Did you see something amazing?
😆👍😆👍😆👍
from 🇯🇵❤
Misa Misa Misa "The Barefoot Assassin" is the bad ass bass player ! She plays barefoot on stage so see can feel the music !
Nice reaction greeting from germany
1:58: _"... this bassist is freaking_ 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 _it..."_
Yes... that's why she is called 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔹𝕒𝕣𝕖𝕗𝕠𝕠𝕥 𝔸𝕤𝕤𝕒𝕤𝕤𝕚𝕟.
Lol and the call and response you will learn is bandmaid doing band maid things
🤘🤘
This is just a straight up hard Rock song. Throw the Anime comparison out of the window.
One of these days I'm going to remember which show's opening credits this song reminds me of.
