Yes. Band-Maid is a rock-core band with pop sensibility combining elements of punk, metal (also funk, jazz, rap, hip-hop, blues, fork, country depending on the song) and from early on, they had touch of prog. Their music is becoming increasingly progressive these days. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of anime songs but some of their anime songs are unique and still has the unmistakable Band-Maid quirkiness in note choice, use of pause, Akane's colourful and melodic fills...there's so much to take in and enjoy that those bloody anime songs sometimes become my favourite!😂 About their sound, they definitely use traditional Japanese sound here and there, including the traditional pentatonic scale-influenced sound (in parts), they never do anything all way though. The drummer uses so many rhythmic patterns in one song, fast yet very fluid...I can't get enough of her. Kanami the lead guitarist - her playing style is so...one of a kind. Honestly, every member of this band has her unmistakable style and sound, the band embrace everyone's difference (individuality) to create their sound. Yolo (one is the most unique second verse) Sayonakidori (Akane's unique drumming), Giovanni (progressive masterpiece), Onset, Moratoriam, Wonderland (slower but one of their most complex composition) Their music is very addictive. You go through other great bands and come back to Band-Maid and realise how different their music is from other bands.

There are many western and Japanese bands that influenced them and they play a wide range of styles. Their newer music tends to be more progressive and complicated. If you’re looking for math rock, other Japanese bands like tricot and Sokoninaru are a closer fit.

Her sister makes all her outfits. Someone in the comments mentioned her cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop", and while it is great, the original with Elizabeth Fraser of The Cocteau Twins, just makes me fly back to 1985 when I bought "Treasure" by The Cocteau Twins on vinyl at Tower Records when I was 15. Which I still own. Elizabeth Fraser's voice is otherworldly. Please look into them. Although most of her lyrics are just unique sounds, her cover of Tim Buckley's (Jeff Buckley's father) "Song to the Siren" with This Mortal Coil is just gorgeous. It's a big circle because she was dating Jeff Buckley when he died and wrote Teardrop for him, but had covered his dad's song. Check out "Song to the Siren" or any Cocteau Twins.

The LIVE version is even better, like Way Better! Go back and do the LIVE version! Also, not a set. That's a real temple! And BAND-MAID has Anime Theme Songs. They even have a Music Video where they appear in anime form. It's called 'Unleash'. As well as commissions, like 'Shambles' for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura.MISA is a Bad Ass! She is the Bad Ass Barefoot Bass Assassin! Make time for more BAND-MAID! They have so many influences, Hendrix, Santana, Smashing Pumpkins, Sheena Ringo.
