1989-91 MJ is the perfect combo of his earlier nuclear athleticism + incredible mid-range game + frantic defensive energy, in addition to having better decision making than his 85-88 yrs. Insane player
Being a 6 times NBA Champion and having two three-peats with a great teammate and a great coach between 1991 and 1998 it made Michael Jordan very special
this is my personal favorite season as a die hard MJ fan since UNC. MJ perfected all aspects of his game this season, and was still at peak athletic performance age/shape, he was absolutely unstoppable. Its tough, because 1988 season was such an important and loved season for me but he was still working out how to play with his teammates to get that championship (but his athletic performance in 88 was superhuman/other worldly/impossible to re-create).
I agree personally think 88 is for sure his physical peak but his peak as a player is 90-91. I think a lot of people think the 80s version of MJ won rings but he was unfortunately drafted to a franchise in turmoil
@@Ctybg none taken, I was a toddler but went to his games with family and honestly I can remember parts of it still today. Im 46 grew up in NC so MJ was our superhero.
Thank you so much! This is much longer than the original upload. You don't know how important these videos are for me during my daily cardio sessions on the treadmill and stairmaster. I've lost a ton of weight watching Jordan highlights 😂 Watching the 🐐 gives me so much extra motivation. Thank you!
Perfect timing. I’m reading the Jordan Rules right now about the 90-91 season. It’s amazing they even won the chip with how much they had going on behind closed doors. Btw never say Jordan is better bc LeBron would always get his teammates traded. Jordan was on that too lol
crazy part is, Mj wasn't going full speed at all. He was just going enough to beat his defenders. The only times he went full speed is when the crowd needs to be fired up!
He goes exactly the speed he needs to, not too little and not too much. Conserves as much energy as possible too along with just being pretty to watch.
Mike won for the first time in his 7th year as the lone all-star/all-nba player for the Bulls. Lebron won for the first time in his 9th year with two all-star teammates with Wade also making all-nba.
Y’all are always backwards with it… 26 of the top 75 players all-time came from the 80’s & 90’s… 12 came from 2000-2019. Lebron didn’t accomplish less because his era was harder, he accomplished less because he’s not as good.
Im 29 so Mj was a little before my time however as a hoops fan, I had to go back & I really see if he was as great as they said he was… and the fact is he wasn’t just great he is the greatest & that kills people my age and younger. Don’t get me wrong the game today has evolved significantly and players today are much more skilled because they’re asked to do more. However, that doesn’t mean the players back then were less skilled or the game was ass, it was different they played a different more fundamental style of ball. With MJ though when you look at it objectively it’s really not hard to see why MJ is the greatest, he never ran from a challenge, he never begged for other stars to come play with him, he over came every challenge that stood in his way and made the players around him better by pushing them to step up. Even when the mental collapse of his father being murdered caused him to lose his joy for the basketball, what did he do? He went and played another sport at a double A level, just to come back and help the bulls win 3 more championships. Then he came back again in his late 30s I’m too bad legs and played against what everyone considers “modern players” and was still a top 20 player. Now was Mike without his failures. No he failed a lot in the 80s and 90s and had plenty of bad games but as he famously said I failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeeded thats why too me he is the 🐐 he epitomizes what a great basketball player is and elevated the sport to levels we haven’t seen since.
More fundamental = more skilled, because fundamentals keep you efficient, meaning less wasted energy. That's why Jordan could play both ends of the floor, and could play 82 games a season, and could perform at the highest level at the end of games, and could win series after series (only lost one playoff series in his career). Today's players are exceedingly wasteful of their energies, which is why they still cannot put up the consistent totals of mj, and why they often can't play both ends of the floor at a high level, and why they can't have consistent playoff runs year after year after year. Also, efficiency = intelligent, which is why MJ's game is the most beautiful. It is intelligent and crisp and to the point. Whatever looks extra is still always what is necessary in the moment.
@ 1000% its whats lacking from the modern game, they don’t play balanced fundamental basketball its all analytics based they all want to be the warriors. MJ stayed 3 years in college and mastered the fundamentals that’s why when he came into the league. He was already elite no wasted movements no wasted dribbles was executed at the highest level.

A complete Jordan
@@Broshaun pretty much, greatest multi-yr peak ever
Just like 2002-04 Kobe, that 2003* season in particular where he jab step Spreewell and took it to the basket and reversed dunked on em
@@bobbyvalentino6773 in terms of a 3 yr stretch, I think Kobe's 06-08 was better. Singular season though, 03 was right up there with his best
