Main reason for Jordan being considered as the goat from those who saw him live, and those who have taken the time to study film, is the fact that he was the goat. Look at this shit, this is beyond absurd. He guarded the much bigger Magic Johnson for 7/10s of the series (dont believe the bullshit that Pippen took that task, watch the full games), picking him up FULL COURT. I shit you not, he was pressing Magic fucking Johnson from one basket the other for the whole series. He was drawing double and tripple teams for the whole series and throwing laser beam passes to his teamates under the basket, averaging more than 11 assists per game. ACTUAL ASSISTS, as in giving the ball to his teamates under the basket to lay it in uncontested (not passing it to someone 35ft from the basket to make a defended 3....). He was scoring in everyway possible with his right, with his offhand, midrange, longrange, in the paint, posting up, off the ball, off the dribble, crossing over with the left, crossing over with the right, stepping back, beating a double team, beating a tripple team, beating four at once, averaging 31 ppg (bare in mind Bulls were scoring 100 ppg, compared to today where they score 120 in the finals) and as much as the next two Bulls (Pippen and Grant) on fucking 56% AS A TWO GUARD. He was making all the clutch shots, including the one that tied game 3 over Divac. On top of that, he scored *13 consecutive baskets in a game* (all time NBA Finals record). And of course, as per usual, he provided us with highlights for all time (as the famous reverse hand lay up). And he did all that, with the outmost finesse. This is beyond absurd, this is unfathomable. The level of activity, of stamina (there is nobody today that could defend someone basket to basket for a whole series, let alone do that and combine it with what Jordan did offensively), of efficiency, of leadership, of artistry, of skill, of imagination, all combined and manifested at the max and leading to victory. If Jordan hadnt happened, one couldn have imagined it was possible to play basketball like that. If film wasnt available, descriptions couldn do it justice.
Man, this is just a master class of offensive basketball. The style of shooting, the jab steps, the passing, cross-overs, reverse lay-ups. Everything. Very nicely edited too. Looking at MJ in his prime, it's as if a team of scientists genetically engineered the perfect basketball player and let him loose in the NBA.
forget the 6-0 vs 3-6 (that's a team accomplishment)and forget the stats (lebron is bigger he should get more rebounds and plays are ran through lebron where as Jordan played in the triangle offense so he's not going to get as many assist) just by what you said the jab step, the cross over, the reverse layup not to mention the DEFENSE no doubt Jordan was better than lebron. and I'm a lebron defender.
This was the very start of the summer before my freshman year of high school. I taped each game on the vcr and literally spent every single day that summer watching each game and pausing and rewinding play after play from Jordan. I did it so much the vcr tapes wore out. I would do chair sits in my room the entire time I watched with the chair close enough to push vcr buttons and then when I couldn't wait any longer would run directly outside and practice the moves over and over for a couple hours then go right back in to watch and do chair sits. I didn't just do this for a week or two but the ENTIRE summer. My mom thought I was crazy. That was until school started and that Oct basketball started. I made varsity and ended up starting after a couple games and went on to be the all-time leading scorer at my high school and held the record from 1996 to around 2011 or so. I also ended up having around a 40 inch vertical from all those chair sits. For the young ones reading every word of this is true and if you want something bad enough just know you can usually get it with nothing more than sheer work and determination. Thanks for posting. I have not seen these in years and watching brought back some incredible memories and emotions. Michael Jordan in this series embodies the closest anyone will ever get to a perfect basketball player. The most memorable were dropping 3's on Portland, beating one of his best friends, coming back ! Winning number 4 on Fathers day and the Flu game after retirement no.2 No one did it better and one ever will...
Does anyone actually believe that if Jordan felt he needed to be the best passer in the game in order to win, he wouldn't have been the best passer in the game... every bit if not better than LeBron? I for one wouldn't bet against him. Most underrated passer of all time as is.
Well if someone challenged him he could. When he played point the league shouted "unfair". As what Doc Rivers back then said, it's a scary thought. Isiah also said that MJ can be the goat PG during that time, better than his bff Magic! They were right though, 10 triple doubles in 11 games in 30+ppg... 😁
Lookup what Jordan did the games he played the PG position...it was triple double after triple double something like 7 in a row and he averaged almost 10 assists...but Lebrons the better passer lol
How great is he? 11:36 is all you need to see. He is up in the air, gets bumped, is moved from his shooting position but has enough hangtime and concentration to keep his shooting form and hit that shot... I am sold. He is the greatest of all time for me.
Oh my gosh, he scored and went through the whole Lakers defence like he was toying with them. MJ and Pippen were such great defence-fastbreak partners.
Passing, not playmaking, is easy man. Jordan could avoid 2-3 players at a time and put the ball inside a narrow basket better than anybody else in history, throwing that shit close to someone's hands should have been easier than walking to him.
This 91 Bulls team was just too much for this Lakers team.... Younger, quicker, faster, and way more hungry! There was absolutely nothing that L.A could do to stop these Bulls.
I would say that Rodman was the best rim finisher on that team. I watched that whole Bulls season live. Very, very rare for him to miss at the rim. And if he did, that was his rebound.
***** You're a clown making statements like that! What're you a teenager who wasn't even born in 1991! Get real! If anyone can criticize Michael Jordan's performance in the NBA, there is no such thing as a great player! GOAT bar none!
Michael Jordan shows in this game why he is the greatest of all time. He never takes breaks on either offense or defense. He left it all on the floor and he did it every one of those six times that he went to the finals. Guys like LeBron take vacations on defense even in the finals. LeBron will never be on Michael Jordans level.
6:02 just amazing, and he makes it look normal. His movement, how he hung in the air twisted his body to make plays. Won't be another athlete like him.
This is spot on. He also changed the speed of the game. Watch the early videos from the 80s and its almost like something new and revolutionary arrived with Jordan. He was like the Tasmanian devil out there.
+Michael M and that's why i could never understand how people can compare kobe and jordan. i fight all day with people who don't know shit debate with me, so i say thank you sir for posting the stats so others can compare
It's best to compare Lebron to Magic and Bird. Jordan focused on scoring and added everything else. Lebron focuses on passing first, scoring second, rebounding third, depending upon need. Different players, different roles. You can compare Jordan to Elgin Baylor or Wilt Chamberlain, both of whom focused on scoring.
no one can stop that man! he is the greatest of all time! Its not that the defense is bad but all the guys on floor cannot jump 40 to 48 inches off floor to block mj! lmao
Hassan Abdallah : you're exactly right not only could he jump higher than anybody else his hands were so big he could take that basketball in one hand and put the ball wherever he wanted that's why he was one of the best too because his hands were so damn big just like dr. J The man had the all. GOAT.
I still remember me and my cousin breaking my bed from jumping up and down during these Finals and being punished for it. This was my favorite Finals from MJ because it's like we knew they were more to come. MJ played like he couldn't miss and his athleticism was unreal.
@@VMakNYC Actually, I remember that play. I knew he saw the lakers player out of the corner of his eye and switched hands thinking he was going to jump and block the shot. He even mentions it in an interview. It wasn't about style; it was about instincts.
@@weednsteak 96 was not in his peak in 96 actually 91 was his peak as he was still in his athletic peak his jumpshot was pure from mid range and he had started to make his teammates better.
Its pretty much unfair to compare anyone to Michael. He was ridiculous. He had every skill, and tool you could think of. When he ran out of those he'd reach into his bag and pull out some magic.
Grant had to be careful not to slip into watching MJ like a fan coz MJ would always find him with a lightning quick pass if he was open. MJ the assist king!
Dear social media. MJ, is the only player that checked all the boxes. Free-throws, Speed, jumping, quickness, scoring from anywhere on the floor. He even became a good three pointer shooter because he was challenged by the media. The man made 14 straight shots in the playoffs. My goodness!
I don't know how the younger generation don't see the Player. He is not a social or giving person to others like him. The basketball is his. His game is smooth.
Michael Jordan IS THE GOAT!!! There are a lot of great players now, but they are not on MJ's level! I'm not saying anything against LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, or Giannis, they are all great players, but MJ is in a class by himself!
Byron Scott said that he enjoyed guarding MJ because he was smart enough to never piss him off. I think he's fine. If only some of his teammates knew better.
Still to this day. Watching Jordan and Pippen play is a work of art. Those dudes were too smooth and fluid with the way the played on offense and defense. A joy to watch.

Isiah also said that MJ can be the goat PG during that time, better than his bff Magic! They were right though, 10 triple doubles in 11 games in 30+ppg... 😁
All he needed was for someone to challenge him and then it would've been on he loved a challenge
Lookup what Jordan did the games he played the PG position...it was triple double after triple double something like 7 in a row and he averaged almost 10 assists...but Lebrons the better passer lol
@@arthurthomas4204 Jordan Would've Taken It Personal
He would have TAKEN IT PERSONAL and entered god-mode if anyone challenged him to a passing contest. #MJMentality
Jordan was such an underrated passer! He wasn't good at it, he was GREAT!
the double nickel game winner. jordan to wennington (cartwright wasn't playing that quarter) i believe. remember that?
Best passer in the NBA MJordan .
@Gary Thompson wilt, russell, kareem are centres I am pretty sure jordan passed better than wilt, russell, kareem.
Kdot Mart glad you pointed that out I was thinking the same thing
Passing, not playmaking, is easy man. Jordan could avoid 2-3 players at a time and put the ball inside a narrow basket better than anybody else in history, throwing that shit close to someone's hands should have been easier than walking to him.
This 91 Bulls team was just too much for this Lakers team.... Younger, quicker, faster, and way more hungry! There was absolutely nothing that L.A could do to stop these Bulls.
This mj version isnt even his best version.
@@corbinblackstyles6880 but very close to
@@corbinblackstyles6880 fuck . That's mean he was extremely good ...
His 4th ring is the best MJ for me.
@@diocre7446 You mean in 1996 when they battled the Seattle Supersonics.
Michael was completely dominant this series simply ready for the challenge. He was everywhere
Not one person in NBA history can finish a layup like Jordan...dude was a damn contortionist.
Check out Rose 2011... otherwise agree
Kyrie Iriving makes the craziest layups. He's shorter and not as atheltic but will get to the hole somehow all the time
I would say that Rodman was the best rim finisher on that team. I watched that whole Bulls season live. Very, very rare for him to miss at the rim. And if he did, that was his rebound.
jordan back to the rim was so deadly. especially during the 2nd 3peat when he developed that deadly fadeaway.
Man was a machine. Nothing else you can say
***** yeah cuz no one gets old. Smdh
***** You're a clown making statements like that! What're you a teenager who wasn't even born in 1991! Get real! If anyone can criticize Michael Jordan's performance in the NBA, there is no such thing as a great player! GOAT bar none!
ricosauve5 Only dumb people will questioned MJ's greatness. 6 finals, won all. 6 titles despite retiring twice in his prime.
+ricosauve5 Basically! "God in basketball shoes!
+ricosauve5 oh even a better. a human being with the perfect talent and dedication for what he did
Michael Jordan shows in this game why he is the greatest of all time.
MJ is the greatest b/c he changed the paradigm for winning with a dominant wing player as opposed to having a traditionally dominant center.
This is spot on. He also changed the speed of the game. Watch the early videos from the 80s and its almost like something new and revolutionary arrived with Jordan. He was like the Tasmanian devil out there.
"To guard him one on one---a nightmare!"
Yupp
well, to guard him three on one---- a nightmare too!
To guard him two on one~~two nightmares!
Double team was his breakfast
This is a classic display of a guy making the players around him better...something that the late, great Kob's lacked in his game... RIP Mamba.
Jordan averaged 31.2ppg, 11.4apg, 6.6rpg, 2.8spg, 1.4bpg, and 56 percent shooting from field amazing
series average
+Michael M and that's why i could never understand how people can compare kobe and jordan. i fight all day with people who don't know shit debate with me, so i say thank you sir for posting the stats so others can compare
+actlikebanks or when people compare LeBron to mj.
Minecraft Kid lebron stats are at time similar but his game has never been based on scoring only if necessary.
Never seen anyone move with such grace.
I forget how ridiculously good he really was.
Lol for real
Love these old classics.NBA on NBC good days.😊😊
MJ played like LOSSING is not an option! Simply amazing! 🙌
The GOAT period NO DISCUSSION until further notice!😆😎
losing
I miss the days when players didn't complain on every single foul.
no one can stop that man! he is the greatest of all time!
GOAT.
welder77 jorge well said
@@welder77jorge16 hahaha very true. Incredible he had his hand bigger than all players . He was perfect for this kind of game
Every time you see Michael Jordan dunk, those wings always expand out his back; causing his him to fly like an eagle.
13:36
if this happened today Twitter would crash
Lol
Lol
Dkouts57 this been long considered one of MJs most iconic move
facts
True
I watched MJ playing at old Chicago stadium in 1993 , that was wonderful memory in my life.
I still remember me and my cousin breaking my bed from jumping up and down during these Finals and being punished for it. This was my favorite Finals from MJ because it's like we knew they were more to come. MJ played like he couldn't miss and his athleticism was unreal.
2:23 When they say LBJ is a better passer i put this on their faces.
The best team mates of all time "Chicago Bulls"
Jordan always made the improbable look easy. From buzzer beaters to unbelievable plays. I went to six of his games in Chicago. Great memories. 🎉🎉🎉
Jordan elevated his game to god mode in the playoffs. GOAT.
Man, That switch hand layup in GM2 always gives me the chills. Who other but the GOAT could risk such a shot in a crucial Finals match.
Weren't the Bulls up by 20 points when Jordan tried the hand switch layup?
13:35, the call by Marv Albert, "OH!" gets me to this day. Then you see coach Phil Jackson smiling at the aftermath, almost saying, "That's my dog!"
@@VMakNYC Actually, I remember that play. I knew he saw the lakers player out of the corner of his eye and switched hands thinking he was going to jump and block the shot. He even mentions it in an interview. It wasn't about style; it was about instincts.
This is MJ in his true prime right here
Michael L he has no weaknesses
Gary Thompson because those teams had hall of fame players! Duh
96 was his prime
@@weednsteak 96 was not in his peak in 96 actually 91 was his peak as he was still in his athletic peak his jumpshot was pure from mid range and he had started to make his teammates better.
@@kaushiksinha793 96 primetime buddy. Gotta face it. His highest precentage
One season highlights of Mike's is more exciting than most have in their whole career highlights.no argument why he's the greatest
This SIX games of highlights is ridiculous 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Wholly Fuc..ing Shite
The will of Michael Jordan was second to none. BEYOND DRIVEN.
Its pretty much unfair to compare anyone to Michael. He was ridiculous. He had every skill, and tool you could think of. When he ran out of those he'd reach into his bag and pull out some magic.
As far as I could tell, he had no weaknesses
greatest basketball player of all time
Damn all those flashes going off every time Jordan shoots lol
Talk about difficult
Jordan=GOAT
The man had no weaknesses or flaws to his game, NONE
You can tell from the Lakers body language that they we're trying to compete as hard as they could. But it's pretty clear that they are in Awe of him.
I love the physical game of the 90s' when players are sharing each other sweat.
Grant had to be careful not to slip into watching MJ like a fan coz MJ would always find him with a lightning quick pass if he was open. MJ the assist king!
The best the best the best Michael Jordan ❤
Chicago Bulls ❤
Dear social media. MJ, is the only player that checked all the boxes. Free-throws, Speed, jumping, quickness, scoring from anywhere on the floor. He even became a good three pointer shooter because he was challenged by the media. The man made 14 straight shots in the playoffs. My goodness!
Most skilled basketball player ever!! I never get tired of watching videos of the GOAT!!
No individual player has ever played at the level that Jordan was playing at during these times, NO ONE!!!!
When MJ was playing u were glued to the tv!! Nothing else mattered
I think that the bulls will always go down in history as a great basketball team.
At 13:46, Phil with that look like "This cat MJ never ceases to amaze me!"
I'm glad the play at 1:50 was included, it's a special all time play.
The true King, the GOAT, Leflop couldn’t even hold his jock
The era of Jordan is the most beautiful to watch, he's seeking for legacy, always😁😁😁🗿
Is it just me or MJ was so great at scoring that nobody gives him credit for his passing ability 🤷🏽♂️
MJ absolutely tortured Byron Scott! I bet Byron had nightmares for months after this series.
He dealt with the nightmares in therapy
He Had PTSD Fasho 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Byron Scott said that he enjoyed guarding MJ because he was smart enough to never piss him off. I think he's fine. If only some of his teammates knew better.
Even though I'm a Serb, I have to say - Divac is like a schoolboy who doesn't know when MJ is coming, what hit him!!!!
Oh what a spectacular move by Michael Jordan !! G.O.A.T
This was the game that defined Michael jordan as untouchable.
Still to this day. Watching Jordan and Pippen play is a work of art. Those dudes were too smooth and fluid with the way the played on offense and defense. A joy to watch.
That switching hands layup was my favorite MJ highlight until the Flu Game came along.
Lord
In case you were looking for "The Spectacular Move" it's at 13:38
