  • I've literally put up about 50,000, probably 100,000 posters or flyers through the years. For a long time, it was the number one way we got students at Pan Theater. We let people know that might want to perform in one of the troupes about our performing troupes, and we also got the word out about shows, posting anywhere from San Jose up to Sonoma and Napa.
To be honest, I just find making posters, looking at posters, and going in all the coffee shops to be a lot of fun.
That's how we started really growing as a theater-through posters and flyers.
If you have an improv class, improv theater, acting classes, writing classes, or anything like that, everyone talks about digital marketing like Facebook and Google ads, but posters and flyers work too.
If you have the time to distribute them yourself or use a flyer service like Thumbtack Bugle, they can help get the word out. Over time, it compounds, people start to remember you, and your presence grows.
As you're building up your classes, shows, and everything else, definitely consider flyers and posters. They've done wonders for Pan Theater. Even these days, as we move more and more towards digital, we're still doing a good portion of our marketing with flyers and posters.
Definitely check out the Thumbtack Bugle if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area. Think about it!
