Lexi Tracy I noticed I had a typo. I meant “sew” not “see”. So I just meant I never seen going back to sew the closure directly to the first two braids in the front to make sure it does it doesn’t slide back. So that was new and helpful to me. Thanks again!
Ohh yeah! That definitely helps to keep it in place. You’re very welcome❤️ i will be uploading more videos more frequently soon. I’ve been trying to get my website up. If there’s anything else you would like me to film. Just drop some suggestions down in the comments❤️

Thank you for that tutorial! I’m going to try this braiding method. The first time I did my install I did my braids straight back. My closure began slipping back and my edges were a sticky mess. Hope this works out better for me!
Thank you so much! I actually like to use makeup powder and then spray it with hairspray after. My closures have definitely improved a lot since this video.

Hello, great video and thank you! However, I noticed several people asking for hair and brand, but I have not noticed a response. May you please let us all know the Hair that was used to make the unit? If this is not possible, may you please state that so we at least will know that you are unable to share. Thank you in advance.
Sewing it on your head is a big more tough. I would do my own closures as well. The main thing to sewing closures on yourself and anyone else is by having control. To keep it from sliding back you wanted to hold it. The easiest way to do that is by going back and forth from side to side and adjusting it as you go. I would move slow by doing this or ask someone in your house to hold it while you sew it. The only thing with using another hand is that you have to explain to them exactly how to hold it, where to hold it and WHY they need to hold it. (Even if you’re doing it on a client) explain to them saying, “this is the most important step for your service and install. It’s important that you hold the closure tight enough so that it does not slide back. This closure is going to resemble the hairline and if it slides back your braids underneath will show. And it will not look right at all. However we will have to redo the application again” ... it doesn’t have to be that long of an explanation but clients really do appreciate when you tell them especially if they don’t understand the application.
I use small metal clips on either side in the front to hold it in place as I sew. And I also pull it further down on my forehead to allow for any tugging back while sewing.
Yes! I'll do one very very very soon :) Just click the bell & turn your notification settings on for my youtube page so you can be the first to see it!
hey love! the length of time for when you bleach the closure is all determined by which volume of developer you use. the higher the volume (40 volume) the quicker it will process through the hair and bleach the knots. I would stick with 10 or 20 volume, keep it on for 15 mins and check on it after. If it looks bleached enough, take it off. and if it doesnt, take it off and keep checking back on it like every 7-10 minutes. you dont want to leave it on tooo long though or it will overprocess and look orange or brassy. if that happens let the lace dry and go back over it with a toner to get the orange/red/yellow tones out. or use a purple shampoo.
Yes! And yes! You would cut the thread around the closure & the thread around the top couple of track. Then, reapply the closure FIRST until secure. Lastly, sew the tracks back underneath. You may have to cut excess/leftover tracks so that it’s not bumpy at the top.
Do would it make sense to do the video in reverse by sewing the sides last and do the middle sewing first especially on yourself!? Only so there isn’t as much tugging!?
You are the Magician of hair sewing! You are fantastic in what you do? I would travel to where you are just to put my full wig on. Where are you? Houston by any chance?
You sew you own this way as well ? Only asking because abt 75% of time I do my own hair but never tried a closure on myself yet. Is it much harder on your own head?
it is very possible. I self taught myself by practicing. My first couple closures did not look like this at all. They were sliding back and a hot mess lol. But as you keep practicing you’ll come up with your own technique and methods.
You can have your client hold it. Just make sure you are direct about it though, place their hand where to hold it and let them know that this is basically their hairline so they must hold it taut & to not move it around while you are sewing.. Because there are some clients that hold it while being on their phone, not really caring & then when youre done sewing, it looks like the closure is pushed back. So check in between if you’re going to do it that way. Personally, i do everything myself because i know that i will make sure that it’s secure. It takes technique and positing your fingers and hands a certain way while sewing but it’s very advanced. So i highly recommend just utilizing your clients hands. Don’t feel bad and think (I’m the hairstylist, i shouldn’t have to ask the client to hold the closure down) to an extent, that’s understandable… but this closure placement is literally the most important piece of a closure install and it is for them. If you can explain that professionally, I’m sure they will APPRECIATE it more than you putting a closure on their head that is sliding backwards lol.
A quality sew in can last you for about 2 months or more. But i don’t recommended keeping it in over 2 months. It will be hard to take out & you’ll definitely need your scalp cleansed.
when you sew on the sides at the front, do you sew where the closure touches the braids or where the hair starts but from the side? I hope I make sense lol
lol im not quite sure what you mean. but i sew where the braid starts first because thats going to hold the closure in place. and then i go back and sew the front down to keep it in tact, keep it lasting longer and keep it from sliding back. i hope i answered that for you lol
Uniquely Niqueee, do you mean if she goes out past the closure to create a stitch in the braid versus going straight down into the braid after passing through the closure? Cuz it looks like she sews it out a little past the end of the closure rather than down into the braid itself, toward the scalp.

What size was the closure?
This closure was a 4x4 but i HIGHLY prefer and recommend a 5x5. It looks more natural
@@itslexitracy what type and length of hair was used?
With this method does the closure still push back as the hair grows? If so, can u remove and re-install it without taking down the whole sew in?
Yes! And yes! You would cut the thread around the closure & the thread around the top couple of track.
Then, reapply the closure FIRST until secure.
Lastly, sew the tracks back underneath. You may have to cut excess/leftover tracks so that it’s not bumpy at the top.

Yes they were

No she didn’t. That’s the pupose of anchoring the closure down in the front to the first braid. She didn’t have to because it was tacked down.

No i didn’t love.❤️
