If you like the Autopark, try Summon. You do need FSD but I love it and use FSD daily for my commute to work. Summon is great at the grocery store or lowes when you have heavier packages, etc. I live in Ohio and rain and cold are common so staying in the doorway while the car some is great. Check it ou!
Very informative video. However, the one thing that caught my attention was The comparison with the ice vehicle and the EV range price. I notice a lot of EV reviewers will never compare it to a hybrid that gives over 50+ miles. Then the cost breakdown will be drastically different if not negligent. What do you think?
We are about to go this Friday and decide in person from 3 or Y. We currently had a 3 but was a victim of not at fault totaled accident. Wife prefers the Y despite the non upgrades but with future kids on the way I see her point. (I’ll miss the way the 3 drives tbh) can you send code? Thank you!
Hello, very impressive. Around 2000 kilometers in an electric vehicle. I am considering buying a Tesla. Thank you for sharing your experience on a road trip.
Hey all! Let me know if you have some favorite Tesla features! And, if you're looking at buying a Tesla, let me know and I may be able to save you some $ if you act fast.
Hello Rivian, dad and a fellow Colorado resident :-) We are thinking of either getting a Model 3 or waiting for the Model Y Juniper. Interested to know about a possible incentive, you mentioned in your video. Thanks!
@@johnj2803 it’s a fair question. The R1S is a better road tripper. However, as I mentioned, the Tesla charging network allowed us to take a different route. I think the R1T would’ve been a tiny bit more comfortable. Definitely the R1S would have been more comfortable, but the Tesla was easier once we were at our destination. So it’s a little bit like comparing apples and oranges. I would put them in this order: R1S, Tesla, R1T. But that order would change depending on the activity.
@RivianDad thats good to know. The superchargers in your route are older ones that do not allow rivians to charge? I do have both a MY and an r1s took a similar road trip and its hard for me to decide what I prefer. The FSD over the comfort of the r1s as a driver. Maybe as a passanger they will choose comfort over anything else.
Absolutely, I agree 200%. I pay monthly for it too, mostly because there are months when I pause it if I’m not driving as much or if I know I’ll be road-tripping a lot. Now, I know some people say it’s not worth it, but I’m on version 12.5.6.3, and honestly, it’s incredible. I use it in standard mode, and it drives just like I would-center lane, 5-10 mph over the speed limit, passing smoothly on the left and getting back over to keep pace. It’s not something I use locally, of course, but on the freeway? It’s a total game-changer. Where it truly shines is in heavy traffic. Sure, as the driver, you’re still in charge and need to pay attention, but the car’s capabilities are remarkable. Think about it: it’s got two cameras on each side, one in the rear, and the front-facing one. It’s taking in more data than you can as a human, so when you combine that with an attentive driver, it really is safer. For example, it’ll spot a car coming up from behind at a fast pace even if you’re focused on what’s ahead. It’ll pick up emergency vehicles, alert you, and move over. If it detects an aggressive driver two lanes over, it’ll adjust-move to the center lane, slow down, and notify you why. And it’s constantly monitoring the speed and flow of the traffic around it, adapting as needed. Sometimes, I catch myself looking down and wondering why it’s going 68 in a 70 zone, wishing it would just move over already. But then I realize it’s being cautious, and honestly, it’s taught me a bit of patience. Overall, it’s like having a super-attentive co-pilot that makes freeway driving smoother, safer, and way less stressful.
@@DavidsRSA Yes. It is part of Tesla's FSD package. It works really well, but it can be a little slower than parking it yourself if you don't know how to use it. Still, I like using it because it gets it right every time.
Thanks for all the content from the early days before the Rivian’s hit the road…to this video as well. We’re considering a Model 3…but not sure if we should wait for the model Y Juniper?
Love it! Hope you guys love your model three as much as we do!
The car is super....but your family is the greatest! Bless you all and kind regards from the Netherlands 🎉🎉
It was a fun trip! I will say the back seats are NOT as comfortable as the front (or the Rivian) but still worked surprisingly well for a long trip!

Would you have rather taken your rivian to this road trip?

is FSD worth buying?
At $100 a month, no. To buy the package at purchase? Still no. It’s great for parking, but I don’t trust it for the other things. (Video coming)

What Model 3 version do you have?
long range all wheel drive
Is FSD required for that self-parking feature?
@@DavidsRSA yes. The autosteer which is part of the package. We may only have it for a month because it’s not cheap ($100/mo)
