I dont think it should be in downtown or pop culture street… the mansion needs grounds, a gated drive etc.. maybe in the country

In the comics and the movies, the mansion is meant to be outside the city in a more remote area. In the first X-Men movie, Xavier states that the school is located in Westchester which is just outside New York and in the first Lego Marvel videogame, the mansion is on a remote hill, just outside Manhatten. So I suggest putting it in the more countryside area where you could have lots of nice trees and bushes surrounding it.

This was such an out of touch thing for bricksie to say. For most people, $330 is an absurdly high price for a set like this. It looks ridiculously small next to most other sets from the same theme, and for something called a “mansion” it’s laughably miniscule. They didn’t design the set this tiny to “inspire creativity”. They made it as cost effective as they think they can get away with to work within their set budget and are hoping people will buy it regardless because of their loyalty to Lego or nostalgia for x-men. Not all of us are given free copies of a $330 set just to have the privilege of spending another $330 to make it into the size it should have been in the first place.

A set like this with this price should not be made in mind to double up. For this price the amount of stickers, reuse of figures (again not using the wolverine from the cmf is criminal) and the small size of the building is criminal. Even the minigif count. The mos eisly cantina had 20 figures for 350 (Now 400 but even then). This set is a ripoff in any way that I can see and should be 250 or MAX 280

The two side wings, might actually, need to be a baseplate, each.
Say each section, being a baseplate wide, 1.5 deep, double Boutique Hotel staircase, all the way upwards, with the elevator on the back, on one side, WC-room on the other side.
Too little dormitories or class rooms.
Say three of your big grey baseplates.

I hate to say it, but this building is a lot more along the lines of some of the decade old creator 3 in 1 city sets like the “bicycle shop and cafe” or “toy and grocery shop”. It’s got very simplistic architecture for a 2024 set, and like those sets I mentioned it’s too small to look like it belongs on a street of modulars (even ones that haven’t been enlarged as yours have) without a lot of custom modifications and additions. I think a lot of the cost is in all those minifigs, the sentinel, and the costly IP, so there wasn’t much left for the building. It’s a set thats good for its play qualities more than its display qualities. If I were a kid I would love this for play, but the price probably puts it out of most parent’s budget. With all that, I am confused who the intended audience really is. I am disappointed. I won’t be purchasing it, and I’m not inclined to recreate just the building only for my city because it’s not interesting by itself.

It's very reminiscent of the 90's cartoon, so I think Beast and Jubillee should have been included instead of Iceman and Bishop. It looks a good set, though but you could expand it if you have the bricks for it and it would look great in the countryside - perhaps you could have a cave nearby where the X-Men's jet is stored.

Mountain top display, on the side of the mountains overlooking the downtown core, back behind the ninjago lake. Let's you make easter eggs below ground, that showcase the below ground training grounds under your raised platforms. Only seen when you pop up through one of your access holes, but still cool!
Then you can also have Wayne Manor on adjacent grounds with a secret bat cave, with a hidden entrance in one of the "closed" arches of the raised platform coverings!

I really appreciate your attempt at being positive about the set Bricksie, but I agree it doesn’t live up to the other Marvel modular buildings (or really any modular building!) Getting the $330 to buy one of these would be a stretch but needing two or three to truly make it appropriately sized and detailed is out of hand for the majority of collectors. I love the X-Men but I hope that Lego gets the message that they can’t skimp out and then charge a premium.

Unfortunately, Lego is pricing out a lot of adults with this set for it being so expensive and really so small. This is the X-men Mansion!! It should be a lot bigger ( like they should have added a 3rd floor) and they should have added more detail to the exsisting figures for this insanely high price of $330. For example, look at the Daily Buge set that is only $20 more and the Bugle set is a 1000x better and bigger than this set and with a lot more figures! I saw this set at my local Lego store the other day and it was incerdibly underwelming! I won't be buying this set unless I find it for a fantastic deal. This set is a crazy let down.

The mansion looks more like a toy you would go out and buy for a kid, I can see Lego needs to keep costs down but there are other ways. One being to sell modules for the mansion with 1 or 2 figures and once you have them all they form the mansion to the correct size, it could still be customisable by getting extra modules or just using what parts you have. Each part would be affordable with the final build costing far more than this one but spread out over time as they release sections. Displayed as the mansion is now is the only thing its good for, A lot of money for a dust collector.

You've heard about tiny houses, now make way for LEGO and their invention, the tiny mansion!
Can the sentinel can stand on it's own? If so it's a waste of space to put it on the studs for their design. If they did use the blank space you'd pay even more with the increased piece size, and the height would still be dissapointing. If there is the argument of them wanting to display a battle scene it's kinda meh, there is plenty of action to be found on the box image of the Avengers Tower and the Daily Bugle and it didn't need to have this space up front to do so. On the box of this one Wolverine and Cyclops are still standing on a flat surface despite having the garden and sidewalk.
This would be better without the presence of the sentinel and a increased size for the mansion all around. Give Magneto's sentinel as a GWP or make it a set of it's own with a few (missing) minifigures and you're done and people can make it a battle scene if they want to. Despite this criticism the modular design of it and the interior design is nice.

I was wondering what everyone else was doing with the mansion because it would look crazy in combination with what I got. My plan for now is to put it on the nightstand I have next to the dresser with the other buildings. Everyone knows the X-men mansion is isolated. It’s like just like Wayne manner. Until I get my own place and have more space I’ll probably do an L desk and do one side city and other rich residentials.

Remember the X-Mansion is not just what is above ground. What is below ground takes up even more space. Then there’s also the launch for the Blackbird out the wide of the hill/cliff. Hilly countryside would be better than city or suburbs. Watch X-Men the Animated Series for inspiration. The danger room and other elements were below the school as the dorms and regular schoolrooms were in mansion. The Xavier estate was large. The hangar is usually featured as being under the basketball court. There is also a cemetery on the grounds.

I actually wonder if rather than doubling up building back to back might be a solution with this set to feel more Mansion like, the reverse would need some heavy edits. so you can incorporate the easter eggs on the back.

Definitely the set needs more width depth and height. At least 2 more sets would accomplish that.

How about at your layout access point in the countryside (the cut out section of the tables) you place the X-men mansion on the mountain right at the edge and detail the bases lower levels. Maybe more interesting building the lower levels then just more rocks of the cut away mountain.

I feel like this should have been like five sets? Like having a danger room with some figures and so on. So if you get all of them you make the whole mansion. This would get you the figures and more space. Coming back to lego, I am shocked at how tiny the interiors are in a lot of sets.

The Mansion isn’t even in the city. You need to put it the country side like the shows and movies.

Put it in bedded in the mountain facing pop culture street. That way it’s size looks bigger as it’s higher and further away

The question I am about to ask is not a criticism against Jordan. I understand the situation the people invited to Billund are in, but do any of them actually call out the developers on the criticisms? Did anyone ask why the set is so small, why so many stickers when AFOLs hate them or why the price is so high? It’s the one chance to really get the answers everyone wants to know. I’m sure it could be done respectfully.

Another reason why it does not look good on pop culture street is because you have modified the size of the buildings. If left original…. It would have looked better

What about a "mansion expansion pack" with just the parts needed to expand the building? I don't think a whole second set is needed... you don't need another roof, another sentinel, another cerebro, another beast desk. All you need are the parts to make the rooms taller and wider. Could be an opportunity for some entrepreneur out there! Fan made expansion packs for LEGO sets that are too small or just need some beefing up.

You could put it on the raised platform above the residential section. Yes I know that you plan to put mountains there but perhaps the could go around it.

I would increase the size of the mansion. Customize the interior and place it in the countryside with a walled and gated perimeter. I would also place it close to the mountain and create the underground areas inside with an access tunnel.

It is not only way too short and with far too wide an empty a front, but it lacks the detail required to match the modulars. No thanks, is my view, because I couldn't give a fig for the minifigs. The Sanctum is a different matter - the building is gorgeous, it fits perfectly in the modular city and you can just hide that port-hole by placing it in the back.

Does it actually have to be in the Lego City at all? It seems like it needs to grow so much that you may as well make a MOC from scratch, and that's even if you want it there. Sounds like it needs to eat so much into the countryside just for it to be enough of a spectacle to work, and that's a lot of retail space
It's interesting on the surface, but like everyone else seems to be saying, they dropped the ball on this, and it feels like a Creator-standard set with an 18+ price

It seems like a more stand alone set than meant to be in a lego city. I agree that it definitely looks more like a 14+ set as well. It does have a huge amount of potential though! It can be made into so many things if it isn’t used as the mansion.

You should put it in the park area. There was a time in the X-men comics where the mansion was located in Central Park. Would make the set visible and close to the other super hero related sets in the city.

Apart from there being so little depth to the mansion, its floors are not tall enough. This is notable when it's compared to the residential area - the 3-story mansion is as tall as a 2-story house.

I get creators not wanting to express their concerns to designers especially with how strict the LAN is for example brixie being put on watch for accidentally leaking the rocket raccoon set despite it being Legos fault. It’s a difficult situation where being a successful Lego content creator is often reliant on LAN despite them being a pain to work with.

    • @robertdavies3842
      @robertdavies3842 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@shimarindango7810 I do agree but if there going to listen to anyone's opinion it will be the content creators as they definitely do no listen to the general public and they still remain with LAN after the critics in there later videos in most cases

    • @shimarindango7810
      @shimarindango7810 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@robertdavies3842that would require a lot of creators to express the same concerns though, because people have spoken out and have been subsequently removed from LAN only to cause no change as to how LEGO works. I would love to see a mass criticism of LEGO from content creators for the many issues they seem to ignore but I just can’t see it happening. The only thing that has changed how they work in the past was due to them almost going bankrupt.
