Cassandra Geminni (from Frances The Mute) and the first 3 tracks from Deloused in the Comatorium. Both of those albums are well worth a listen. Could I also request that you play a NEW ERA Alice in Chains song, perhaps: So Far Under or Looking in View? Many thanks and keep up the great work.
The Mars Volta is easily in my top three bands of all time. Pretty much anything else you listen to is golden, but the stuff from their first four albums in particular is incredible. Anything from the albums "Deloused in the Comatorium", "Frances the Mute", "Amputechture", or "Bedlam in Goliath" is potentially mind blowing. The album "Octahedron" is good too, but it's a lot softer than the others and isn't as popular. Though I will say that once you get used to it, it has a certain "beauty" to the music that I really enjoy. Then there's "Noctourniquiet", and which is good too but it's entirely different from everything else they've done- like almost unrecognizable. But you could react to any song from this artist and I would love it.
@@TheAlibabatree I think it's great. It's almost hard to compare it to other TMV albums because of how different it is, though. It doesn't pull me in as much personally as albums 1-4, but don't get me wrong I enjoy the music and I've definitely been in the mood to listen to it over other albums quite a few times.
@@kingofhearts642 I dont judge albums based on the artist, i try to judge for what they are. In my opinion, Octahedron is easily their worst album. Not bad by any means, but completely lacking originality. I think Deloused, Frances, and Noctourniquet are the only (almost) perfect albums they put out.
Matthew Brock we keep suggesting Cygnus.... Vismund Cygnus. I really think it should’ve been one of the first, always my intro to the band for other people
@@dustinkoehle6676 That's one of my favorite opening tracks to an album of all time. Along with the combo of Son et lumière & Inertiatic ESP on De-Loused; Bombtack on RATMs self-titled; Immigrant Song on LZ III; and pretty much every Streetlight Manifesto opening track.
Please!!! As the biggest Mars Volta fan in the world since 2001 these newer albums were bland compared to the first 3. Deloused in the Comatorium is a perfect 10/10. The second half of Frances the Mute(their second album), a 32 minute song called Cassandra Gemini is the best thing these guys ever produced. I would love some reactions to their golden years.
Man you gotta do the first album. The intro, first and second songs will explain why. Also- wiki the concept. You’re like four albums deep! You don’t want Amputechture to be underwhelming!
Great video Jim as always. Not a massive Mars Volta fan but this song was pretty good. A lot going on which I like. :) Don't forget to listen to the following songs : Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence disk two The Faceless - Autothiest Movement part 1 to 3 Carcass - Heartwork Cradle of Filth - Lord Abortion (with lyrics) By the way my phone has this suggested list of songs on predictive texting. That's how many times I have suggested these songs 😂
The 3 songs you've heard are good but I've always thought they were running out of juice by then. The entire Deloused album is full craziness you wouldn't believe. Frances the Mute as well is quite amazing
@paula yeah I definitely couldn't say any album is "by far" better between De-loused, Frances, Amputechture, and Bedlam but Bedlam to me is a close second to De-loused with Frances and Amputechture being about tied for 3rd
Given you have liked what you’ve heard of the band and you haven’t done anything off the first album, I HIGHLY recommend doing a whole album reaction for Deloused in the Comatorium. It is an absolutely phenomenal album. Failing that, can you do Cicatriz E.S.P.?
Glad you liked it! TMV dethroned Pink Floyd, of all bands (& trust me that's no small feat for me) as my favorite of all time. Took my friend 2 years of badgering to finally get me to listen to them, & finally I did. This was when they had only 2 albums out. After they clicked with me, I became the one who told HIM about new album releases & show dates. Seeing them live is like a religious experience. Anyway, if you liked this you must listen to their first album, De-loused in the Comatorium, & their as-of-now sixth & final album, Noctourniquet. Some song recommendations would be "Televators" & "Empty Vessels Make the Loudest Sound" off each album in order of release, respectively. A lot of fans bashed Noctourniquet but it is one of my favorites. It's different, which so many fans can't handle when their favorite band does anything out of the norm. Anyway, hope your family gets better soon, & I'm glad I found your channel. 😃
Always good to listen to some TMV! Also, add this to your list even if it never makes in on the channel you should listen to it for yourself - Band ISON song Redshift, it’s space themed drone post rock and this song is frickin unbelievably emotional and amazing

Glad you keep doing TVM, interesting to see these. Really still holding out for vismund Cygnus vismund tho! It’s truly an amazing piece of music, so much emotion and skill
Thanks for another great video Jim.
Many have already suggested these, but I’m going to add the numbers....
Cassandra Geminni (from Frances The Mute) and the first 3 tracks from Deloused in the Comatorium.
Both of those albums are well worth a listen. So if you are thinking of doing entire albums, start with Deloused and then move on to Frances.
Many thanks
The dynamic in Cassandra Geminni is wonderful!
You can tell he just absolutely grooved to it from the start. One of my fav songs behind Cicatriz and Take the Veil.
Cicatriz or Viscera Eyes next please. Every day you put out a video it makes my day because it's a song from a band I love or I find a new great band to listen to. Thank you
One of my favourite bands, Viscera Eyes for me is one of the best 🙌 but then again Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt is a banger too, it’s all good really
Listen to more Mars Volta! Listen to In Absentia
You made a good song listening choice. This album is a spirit board of sound!
G.P. OXO
I see what you did there! 😂😏😉👍🏽
I subbed for your TMV stuff. Love it and love that you're even giving them a chance.
Rosa Rugosa by Anywhere is my suggestion.
And In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth : 3 by Coheed and Cambria
Drummer is the prodigy, Thomas Pridgen
PGP, Pinnick Gales Pridgen, was a really cool project, too.
@@Easy_Skanking that sounds legendary, i need to check them out
@@reesedavis3499 Yes! Doug Pinnick, Eric Gales and Thomas Pridgen. Enjoy!
@@Easy_Skanking thanks
Seen em live Brisbane Australia and at the drive in. Fucking kills
HI Jim. Congratz on the the now 10,000+ subscribers and I may say that you are deserving of it. Love the down to earth reactions you do. Keep them coming.
Noctourniquet is my second favorite TMV album. You really have to go into it with an open mind.
I from elpaso texas where the mars volta came from and I love TMV reaction videos
“Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus” or “Meccamputecture”
Matthew Brock we keep suggesting Cygnus.... Vismund Cygnus. I really think it should’ve been one of the first, always my intro to the band for other people
@@dustinkoehle6676 That's one of my favorite opening tracks to an album of all time. Along with the combo of Son et lumière & Inertiatic ESP on De-Loused; Bombtack on RATMs self-titled; Immigrant Song on LZ III; and pretty much every Streetlight Manifesto opening track.
Yessss, more Volta!! Cygnus Vismund Cygnus!
CASSANDRA GEMINI (32min "complete" version) live listen, who's with me?
Drums, you say? Might want to check out Wax Simulacra
Hey Jim, do a reaction to "Birds of Fire" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra. That band was an influence on TMV too.
The Bedlam in Goliath is one of the best albums ever made!
How about some of Omar's solo stuff, The Palpitations form a limit or Rapid fire tollbooth might be fun, the latter in contrast to your Goliath vid.
Feels like a new Mars reaction kinda weekend to me, Jim!
Don't forget to listen to the following songs :
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence disk two
The Faceless - Autothiest Movement part 1 to 3
Carcass - Heartwork
Cradle of Filth - Lord Abortion (with lyrics)
By the way my phone has this suggested list of songs on predictive texting. That's how many times I have suggested these songs 😂
Love your reviews and reactions. You should do “The Malkin Jewel” off the album “Noctourniquet” The Mars Volta 👍🏼👍🏼
The 3 songs you've heard are good but I've always thought they were running out of juice by then. The entire Deloused album is full craziness you wouldn't believe. Frances the Mute as well is quite amazing
He has done Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt, but that's the only song off De-loused
@paula We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I like both albums but to me, Deloused is in the top 10 best albums of all time
@paula yeah I definitely couldn't say any album is "by far" better between De-loused, Frances, Amputechture, and Bedlam but Bedlam to me is a close second to De-loused with Frances and Amputechture being about tied for 3rd
Awesome reaction jim....even though ur not feeling good....The Mars Volta- Cicatrez please!!!!!
I know u will love this song....becuz I do!
Let me suggest you something from Italy as
- Kantiere Kairos - La lista
- Under Attack - Beyond the sea
- Inside Mankind - Magdalene
Always good to listen to some TMV! Also, add this to your list even if it never makes in on the channel you should listen to it for yourself - Band ISON song Redshift, it’s space themed drone post rock and this song is frickin unbelievably emotional and amazing
I just recently found a Mars Volta Tee shirt wish I could post it to see what year and or album its from.
Constant Flow
Describe it... I’ll help ya out... probably had it myself. 😉
@@Sir_Blobfish it's old English writing across the top that says "The Mars Volta" and the color of the graphic is a lime green and gray...almost looks like it should glow in the dark. It has a pentagram in the middle as well as some hexagon with symbols inside of that and skeletons with wings...at the bottoms the band.
Constant Flow
Don’t know that one actually! Seems familiar but I don’t know it for sure. 🤔
I’ve probably owned 10 shirts myself over the years. 😉😂
@@Sir_Blobfish Any way I could send you a picture of the shirt?
Constant Flow
Sure thing...
send it to dedufour41@yahoo.com 👍🏼
Jim, please react to any song off of "Deloused in the Comatorium" or "Francis the Mute". All songs off of those are absolute brilliance.
You've gotta go back to their first 2 albums. I recommend "Cygnus vismond cygnus". Arguably their best piece of music imo, this coming from a huge fan dating back to years and years ago
You really need to get back to some Rishloo my man! I really think you'd appreciate their song Winslow, among others of course :D Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun is great too as well as Just a Ride
They have got back together recently...but sadly the bassist hates Omar/Cedric now and the keyboardist passed away. I don't have much hope that what ever, if any, album they make will be as good as the older stuff.
Please listen to "Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus" by The Mars Volta. It's a masterpiece. You will not be disappointed.
You should listen to COMUS - first utterance. The singing on this reminds me heavily of it and I definitely think you’d find them interesting
More volta!!
Energetic, chaotic, but controlled. If you want something with similar qualities I suggest 'Thank You Scientist' they have a pretty jazzy sound. Listen to A Salesman's Guide to Non-Existence. Also get well soon
Good suggestion. I just listened to 'My famed disappearing act'. I have something new to dig into. 👍
HELL YEAH! OUROUORBORUS!
You won't be able to say the same about the bass player on their first album, Deloused in the Comatorium. It's Flea from the RHCP, uncredited
Haha cool Style eh? I always get the feeling TMV is like Korn meeting RHCP and then they went Prog(ish)? For me it is kinda what Insanity in Prog-Form would sound like. I always enjoyed this band tho. My recommendation this Time (ill just keep adding :P ) The Aristocrates - Spanish Eddie(If you want Insane Bass-Guitar things) OR Desert Tornado(If you want my favourite Drum-Intro).
I recommend Puya - Solo (fusion of salsa and metal)
I find it hilarious that I find Bedlam to be one of my least favorites from them but it's still such a good fucking album. Goes to show just the quality of the band as a whole.
Yeah I'd just react to the first few albums in full!
Should just do an entire mars volta series
The creation story of this particular album is...interesting.
Ouroboros is a mythic antique symbol used in tons of religions and cultures. There are hundreds of songs called like that :D So it's easy to get them confused yes
You should try reacting to a band call Mars Red Sky. i think youd like some of there work.
Collector, Under The Hood, or Strong Reflection are good songs to start with i think
The Butterfly Effect- The World's on Fire...you will love it!
Cassandra Gemini :O
Conjugal burns
