      I hope wrc generation is an improvement in PS5. Tbh, WRC10 was quite a disappointment for me for 2 main and technical reason; 1). The night stage is waaaaay tooo dark (esp croatia) 2). Screeen tearing esp in Finland stage.

      @@elbowsout6301 what is going to EA and Codemaster? The next WRC game? If so, I actually wish it would. I prefer dirt rally a bit than WRC. At least in console experience, Dirt Rally is far less buggy.

    Happy to see someone, with finesse in his commentary, talk about Kylotonn's history of at least its previously primary series.
    FlatOut 4, V-Rally 4, and WRC Generations are the main games that make me a fan of the studio.

    I gave up on the KT engine after WRC 10 due to all the stuttering and freezing but recently I learned that having the WRC games on an ssd instead of a hdd cured all the stuttering for me. My Accuforce still cuts the fps in half so I have to use GimX to emulate a G27 to fix that. Now I enjoy a rock solid 141 fps and can enjoy what are very good games when working properly. I will for sure test out Generations.
    I hope KT can improve on the engine to the point that it is well optimized and just works with no fuzz and have a dream that Kyloton will bring us Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo 2 and some circuit racer with cars of yore.

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooh, that would explain why the PS5 and Series X didn't have strutting, and PC did for WRC 10, as they have SSDs. Glad you resolved that, and we hope Generations is smooth for you!

    • @flightis3dollars
      @flightis3dollars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youp1tralala Do you mean that Milestone still has the Sebastien Loeb license? Not that it would matter as what I want is a game that SLRE 2 would be, but not necessarily by that name. But of course, SLRE 2 would have a nice ring to it given Loeb's history and the fact that SLRE was a really good game.

    Haven't tried WRC10 or Generations but when it comes to handling and physics I prefer WRC9 over Dirt Rally 2.0. Sometimes it feels like DR2.0 has infinite grip even on RWD cars and on every surface. Stages, 4WD handling, and obviously tarmac physics are clear. DR2.0 ia a great game but it's glorified because of engine sounds and graphics

  • @SimsRacingDesign
    @SimsRacingDesign 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It is interesting to see the growth KT Racing made over the years and it is a significant growth.
    However, despite the evolution of the physics, graphics and more compared to WRC5, their games have never reached up to the standards put in place by other rally and racing titles such as DR2.0, Assetto Corsa and many more or the potential that was of their own making.
    The main reason for this, in my opinion, has everything to do with the development philosophy of the team behind the games. With WRC8 they managed to construct a strong foundation to build higher upon. But instead of doing that, they decided not to fully commit building on top of what they had put in place but rather around it, adding numerous new 'fluff' features which aren't core game elements. The livery editor being an example of such a feature. It is a lovely addition to have but it does not nearly have the same impact towards success as significant improvements to the core game elements.
    Focussing too much on those 'fluff' features means that far less time and resources were to be used for those core elements such as improvements to the physics, graphics/graphical optimisation, 3D modelling and sound. Sure, we saw core improvements over the next few years but those were not nearly as major or noticeable enough as they should've been.
    I think it's fair to say that because of the limited time and resources spend on those core elements, we ended up with an audio revamp which, despite what other studios managed to achieve with the same methods and programmes, was far below expectations or standards to say the least. Or we received an array of legendary cars which looked and felt underdeveloped time and time again by a significant margin compared to the modern WRC cars for example in the same game. Or that the franchise continued to struggle with graphical and peripheral optimisation over the years.
    They continued spreading their time and resources over too many different things which resulted in their annual releases feeling rushed or unfinished over the last few years.
    There was tremendous potential for KT Racing, especially after the release of WRC8. Potential which will remain untapped right up until the end of their WRC license contract.
    With the license changing hands and Codemasters (EA) now having the opportunity to show off their skills and build upon the knowledge and experience gathered from their past DiRT Rally franchise, I am convinced there's a bright future for WRC games and its players in years to come.

    I'm really excited for Generations. I have every title since WRC 7 and playing through then all is an amazing experience to see the development. Codemasters having the licence now is a blow for me. They are a storied company with an amazing history, but EA have come in and the first F1 game and its blinking F1 Life mode shows EA's priority is still in invading your wallet not focusing on the gaming experience as Kylitonn have. They are a great developer for the gamer and can't wait to see where they go next. Please don't give EA a penny for Ultimate Teams and paying for a blinking painted helmet. We have created the monster buying this stuff. It's the gamers fault don't encourage them! Great video guys and happy gaming all!

    I think KT's handling and physics model is exceptional. It'll be sad to see it leave the WRC franchise. That said, I do feel like their menus, game modes and general UI elements could do with some work. The "Gran Turismo" approach to car ownership in Dirt Rally 2.0 is really nice, I wish that was incorporated in WRC10's anniversary mode. It felt a little lifeless to just be able to drive all the cars on all the stages with no real incentive.

    In the main Codies will help ruin WRC. In F1, they've spent many years taking one step forward and two backwards. Codemasters will milk WRC for every penny they can get. I don't plan to support EA by buying WRC after Generations has launched.
    I'm looking forward to seeing what KT does with the Rallying genre after WRC. I hope we get even more realism, and longer stages moving forwards. I'd love to know from KT, what restrictions the FIA placed on the studio - which limited the games. But I guess nobody will ever ask KT this.

    WRC 8 got me into rally games I put quite a number of hours into that one thought it was a good game. I did start playing WRC 10 but to be honest I barely touch it now after finding dirt rally 2.0 GOTY edition in a sale cheap. I just find dirt rally 2.0 the better rally game the cars actually sound like cars and there's a level of immersion that the WRC games don't have for me. I will likely skip WRC generations. It could get interesting now Codemasters have the official WRC game licence.

    honestly, i *hate* the kylotonn games. the way they play, the handling model, the suspension physics... i always try, and they always feel like you're driving on clouds, it's floaty as all hell, like you're not driving cars but hovercrafts. it's awful. and it goes for all their games ; wrc, v-rally, their truck games (including the fia european truck championship one from 2019 released under "n-racing"), even the isle of man tt felt more like wave race than anything remotely ressembling bike physics... yet, i can't help but be fascinated at how the games and company have evolved, how the wrc series has progressed so much that they're sometimes positively compared to dirt rally, how they were the very first studio crazy enough to replicate rally stages 1for1, how they've been so ahead of the curve on official e-competition, how, in the end, they've been at it through *three* generations of wrc rules...... so yea, i hate the games, they're not what i want/like to play, but i kinda love what the studio's trying (succeeding?) to do... it's weird :P
